as a Baptist, I think that Abstinence from Alcohol as part of the denomination is funny. Jesus quite literally made wine as one of his miracles and only is against drunkenness.
@IluvYahweh
@IluvYahweh 10 месяцев назад
The wine Jesus made is not comparable to today’s wine. Wine paste mixed with/ 3 parts water was a regular beverage in Jesus’ day. The water alone was not very healthy to drink. Let the H.S. be your guide, as for me, all I desire is Jesus, Jesus, Jesus and a drink of wine would alter my focus on Jesus.

Now may the Holy Spirit guide you to look even farther than your Baptist theological roots and find your Catholic theological roots. Even more foundational than the roots you find in your Baptist theology. The Trinity, Jesus Wholly God and Wholly Man, Jesus Son of God, Jesus materially existing vs being an image (Docetism) - these are just a few of the things that you believe but had to be fought theologically through the early Catholic Church. God bless you on your journey. As John Cardinal Newman, a staunch anti-Catholic before searching the history of Christianity prior to his conversion to Catholicism, once said, "To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant." Blessed be God. Blessed be His Holy Name. Blessed be Jesus Christ, True God and True Man. Blessed be the name of Jesus. Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart. Blessed Be His Most Precious Blood. Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete. Blessed be God in His Angels and in his Saints. Amen.

@@mmaphilosophytheologyscien4578 yes pretty much. "Reformed" churches carry a lot of Catholic baggage with their creeds (the Nicene Creed affirms baptismal regeneration, the Chalcedonian calls Mary the "mother of God)), hierarchy, sacramentalism, infant baptism etc. They teach that children of "elect" parents, are by default "elect". no true Baptist has ever taught that you can be saved based on who your parents are. these so called "Reformed" Baptists are teaching that, so they are not real Baptists. they want to be Presbyterian so bad they cant stand it, but they cant swallow infant baptism. however, if they ever join another church, it will def be Presbyterian, and they generally will not associate with other Baptists, but have no issue fellowshipping Presbyterians. they claim their beliefs are original to the Particular Baptists but they are wrong. The London Baptist Confession, which is the confessions Particular Baptists espoused, makes it clear that the individual must have faith for themselves. in my opinion, the "Reformed" churches do believe salvation is "conditional" upon being born "in the covenant"

By the Council of Dort it had become more agreed upon but even today there are people who identify as Arminian while believing in Eternal Security. @samm3561
@samm3561 2 года назад
You should educate yourself before making errant claims. Both Primitive Baptists and Southern Baptists believe in salvation by grace. The fundamental difference is that Southern Baptists believe in sharing the gospel with the lost and the Primitive Baptists typically preach to their churches and do not actively preach or share the gospel with unbelievers. As stated in section V of the SBC Baptist Faith and Message: “Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God’s sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility. All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end”.
@janeyue7491
@janeyue7491 2 года назад
I used to be a southern baptist, and I assure you that they teaches that you must do the ABC (Admit, Believe, and Confess) in order to ‘obtain eternal salvation.’ It wasn’t until a Primitive Baptist who has corrected me that those are evidence that he has saved His chosen people, the elect before the foundation of the world, and not the cause. @caman171
@caman171 Год назад
@@ReadyToHarvest the wording can be confusing. Some say that those who fall away, were "head believers" not actually being saved to begin with. Terms are tricky and depends on who is defining them. I myself, a lifelong Southern Baptist, have never heard of an SBC church that teaches you can lose genuine salvation. Some call me an Arminian for believing in general atonement, and some call me Calvinist for believing eternal security, I consider myself neither, and this is the mainstream of SBCers. If a church truly believes salvation can be lost, why would they be in the SBC rather that the Free Will Baptist Association? I (like you) have studied the history and beliefs of most denominations and churches. Did you know there are many Primitive Baptists who reject TULIP and believe in general atonement? Not all PB's are the hardshell type. Can you tell me how you came up with the number of 310 for PB churches? Is this number for hardshell churches only? The Eastern District Association combined with the Southern District PB Association, Hiwassee PB Association, and the Original Tennessee PB Association have a combined total of over 100 churches and none of them believe in predestination or that you can be saved without hearing the Gospel

Primitive soteriology is fatalism. It goes beyond hyper-Calvinism.
@joenettles5312
@joenettles5312 2 года назад
Only a tiny contingent of those identified as PB teach fatalism, and they are dying fast understandably. Primitive Baptists teach that the purpose of God in eternally saving his elect is immutable, superintended by the Father, who placed his beloved elect from among fallen humanity in covenant bond with his Son, who willingly came to represent the elect perfectly in a sinless life, acceptable death, redeeming blood. The merits of that predetermined death of Christ will be vitally applied to each of the elect sometime during their lives by the monergistic work of the Holy Spirit in regeneration. Those will definitely be in heaven totally due to the love, grace, work, and sovereign purpose of the Triune Lord. While the elect, blessed objects of this redemptive work do not receive it as a result of any work, choice, or response on their parts, there are still choices abounding in their lives which do afresh their experience of salvation while living here below on Earth. Some refer to these deliverances as gospel, time, or temporal salvation. These blessings (which only the eternally saved and regenerated children can experience) are to an extent dependant on obedient choices and conscious efforts through their Spirit-given faith toward God. The greatest of these temporal deliverance (salvations) is being justified by faith under the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the resultant peace we experience with God in our hearts.

When we are in Christ Romans 5v1 says"we *have* peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Salvation by god's Grace is a gift and when gifts are given they are possessions. We are in total quicksand when the message of his reconciliation given to all men was heard (2Co5v19) and received at the moment we repented (that's not our works, it's metanoia = a change of gnosis). God is omniscient and knows exactly when we change our mind now believing that He alone is efficacious to save to the uttermost. He does the saving and we receive it. Gift, gift, gift, gift, gift, gift, gift, gift.. can I spell it any other way? The dizzying complexity of all the Protestant groups is enough to give one vertigo and a headache. Your diligence about the denominations will doubtless shorten your time in Purgatory.

@@willmooneyham6659 I can explain the text critical stuff in detail if you really want. It gets dry and academic, though. Let me summarize by saying there are several early sources used in modern translations with slight variations on non essential doctrines (mostly divergent spellings of names). You have no reason to doubt the reliability of any major English translation imo. The one exception is the New World Translation used by the Jehovah's Witnesses, which significantly varies from other translations in order to support their teachings (it's a mistranslation).

With all respect and with no ill intent, why are so many Baptists faithful to Donald Trump?

He beats any alternative that has run against him. More lined up with Christian values, but I believe I’m beginning to see him weakening on our values/beliefs. 😢

1) against murdering innocent people in the womb “thou shalt not kill” 2) For freedom of religion “thou shalt worship the Lord thou God only”. The liberals are getting to the point that Christians will lose this freedom. 3) Less government control. Allows us as Christians more freedom to live out God’s word 4) He believes God created people male and female. I could go on. We’re not to judge anyone of their past. That’s between them and the Lord.

That's the point of it, Jesus did it with his disciples to show humility.. The God of Heaven was willing to wash our dirty feet and we should be willing to do the same for our other Brothers and sisters in Christ..

So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, “Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” John 13:12-17.

Yo when couples do it at weddings….🫣 Like, I love the symbolism but couldn’t we do communion or something that doesn’t involve sweaty bare feet in public???
