Benny Goodman found success in the swing world with "Sing Sing Sing" and other songs. Goodman's great success in hot swing created a new style of imitators and admirers among swing dance orchestras that lasted until the end of the war. On the musical theory side, during the swing jazz era, large bands became commonplace and became somewhat more harmonically sophisticated. At the beginning of the swing jazz era, the essence of harmony was not much different from that of New Orleans jazz and Dixieland jazz, but sectional harmonies based on four voices (four instruments) were pioneered. After the war, big band leaders disbanded and the era of jump blues, bebop, R&B and blues began.
