I am also a MAROON descendant from Jamaica.. so my heart goes out for my people in Baracara. Shamar's extraordinary performance on the world stage gives hope to this community... Much Much love ❤ 😍
Beautiful place. I know the amenities aren't sufficient but the place has wonderful flaura and fauna. To the Baracaran people... Your boy is wreaking havoc in Oz and decimating the most powerful batting line ups in contemporary cricket. He made your place known. Something to cherish... Someday I would love to go to this place. Wonderful place. Peace. From India.
The hamlet of Baracara where Shamar Joseph was born is a self sufficient place that was settled by freed slaves, it's roughly seventy files south of the New Amsterdam up the Canje Creek. The people there are self reliant, resilient, strong and independent. Their command of the English language is far superior to the patois spoken in the villages of Berbice and along the coast,( listen to Shamar speaking at any interview). This young man comes from a solid background with strong roots, and I see great things for Shamar and good things for the WI team with him in the bowling lineup. With the exposure he's bringing to his village perhaps necessary improvements will come along for his people.
Nicely put together! I am struck by the seemingly very strong community spirit of the people. The people seem to live simple but quite healthy ways. Kudos to all Baracarans, proud of you and your recently revealed star, Shamar! Trust everything will be done to protect you from the ravages of hostile nature and the basic amenities will be yours soon. Good job presenter.
I wonder why was this important piece of history never taught at school???????? Some of our ancestors managed to escape and establish a village???????? My God! This is good news!!!!!!!!
The reason why it was not taught is because the colonial powers determined what was taught in schools and even after they left the new politicians were not aware of that history. The Caribbean countries have a lot of work to do when it comes to education
Well thank you for the video, the people of Baracara are descendant of heroes. May God bless them. Hopefully, Shamar Joseph could lobby the Government to install an antenna so the people there could access the internet and get a high school there.
Wow this place is awesome real ❤nature life fresh fruits an vegetables fish and meat ..Do you welcome visitors from abroad by chance is there place for visitors to stay for few days 😅
The Government of Guyana needs to invest in education, jobs, health care ànd build roads in Baracara and other rural communities. This is 2024 and people should not be living like this.
Is it accurate ancestors of Shimron Hetmyer dwelt at Baracara? I recall pumping stations on the Canje river valley. . I also recall traveling from 66 creek bridge - Anamoromise Creek into Canje.
