Barbarian Body Work! The Worst 55 Chevy Ever Bought- Getting It Road Worthy! 

I was kinda surprised you didn’t start with attaching a ratchet strap to that bumper corner and making a pull in an attempt to reverse the hit. You’ve had pretty good luck with the old ratchet straps and I think that would have pulled that out real nice. I have to admit sometimes I’ll find myself yelling at my screen watching but for the most part you get the desired result in the end I just gotta remember we all go about things our own way.

Dan always pull the bent parts as straight as possible before you take anything off because you will find that you have to do much less bodywork. You are going to trash the bumper anyway so us it to pull on so you don't need to beat on the panel. I bolted in clips to my floor to use straps to pull shit out. It truly works great, seriously think about how a straighting table works at a body shop, I just use my floor with anchors doing the same thing.

I feel like instead of cutting the end of the bumper off, you could have pulled back on it with a strap, chain, or winch from the tow truck, then tap on the creases with a little pressure on it. I think it would have popped back out quite a bit. As always, I love your content. I'd love to own one of your tri-fives. Maybe you will be selling some off when I can afford it better.

A bit of a "USAF Training" Story. While attending Electronics training in Biloxi MS, a squadron mate was the proud owner of a 1956 Chevy Nomad. The negatives about this car began and ended with the rusty quarters complements of its origins, Pennsylvania USA. None of us had much money, in fact, $85 every two weeks stretched very little. All who owned cars had access to the AUTO HOBBY SHOP. A part of that complex was a body shop with torches, sheers, and chunks of metal to bang sheet metal into submission. His fix for the rust was a poor boy's solution. The drums out of washing machines were pounded into shape and welded into the Nomads Quarters after cutting out the rust. This memory popped into my 77-year-old head while watching you weld the dogleg on the right side of the car. Did you follow up on the Harry Eamon and Keith Leah 55 Chevy 2-door drag car INSTANT KARMA photo I shared?

You need a shrinking hammer which has a waffle head. If you lightly hammer on the crease, it will straighten out nicely.

Love the kustom bumper! Radius the back fenders....

I think the 55 came a long way in this video. When you’re trying to fit something together that someone else hacked apart with damaged parts you have done a hell of a job just making it a car again. Hopefully the swap meet has some pieces that you need. Looking forward to the next video.

Get a soccer ball,deflate it and place it behind the fender. Fill it and tap with the hammer while it pushes out the sheetmetal.

looking at the back of the car. your left side of the trunk is overlapping like the rear panel has shifted right towards the trunk lid. Just what i see. you are the man Dan.

That driver quarter "repair" would have been so much easier and better if you had started by pulling it back where the bumper was shoved into it.

Use a deflated football. Push the between the frame and side wall add air to the ball till dent pops out.

Honestly, as rough as that car is, a set of new quarters and a one piece fiberglass front end and it would be pretty good. Id love to have it. Would be a cool start to a hotrod.

The car already looks way better I know money's tight right now but it's a pretty solid car and it's got a 2 door title it would be nice if you put it aside till you can afford quarters and you would have something alot of guys wish they had myself being one.

You got a flat side some washers weld them to the quarter panel then run a bar through the washers use your come along and pull the quarter panel out by come along and it off to something else works great

I get way more stuff in my eye when I'm wearing safety glasses than without. Much like I get weld spatter up my sleeve when I'm wearing long sleeves. lol

Order a pair of quarters for that poor car. Better get some tools as well!

Hi Dan .. you could call the car patches.. try welding the pull tabs on and pulling out the dents that way .. your hard work will pay off .. this car would make a great straight axle gasser and not much else …

A dent puller could also be pretty much helpful, I guess. 😮

Harbor freight has a Maddoxx brand body hammers and dolly set . I think its around 60.00 bucks.

Hate to be the one to tell you you're doing the body work all wrong when on those rear quarters beating on it with that big hammer and block of wood. I love it, looks mint buddy, keep it up👍😊

Most of Nasty. the time I agree with your decisions but cutting the otherwise good bumper which could have easily been staightened by undoing the quarter panel bolt and pulling the bumper back. Good solid bumper which could have easily been a cherry part when rechromed.
