Kensurfs I dare you to try the purple flavor of the barbasol, it's really one of the best shaves I've ever had even compared to using a brush and lather!

I shaved for nearly four decades with Barbasol and cartridge razors before switching to wet DE shaving, If I didn't take a shower during or after the shave, I'd be scratching my neck for a few hours because of a reaction to the chemicals which make up Barbasol. For some reason, a good rinse never completely got it off my skin. I've never had that problem since with all my new soaps and cream. I still use Barbasol for shaving my shoulders and back, though, because I'm in the shower while doing it.
@maxotterland

Shave- a-thon Could be the perfume in it. The soapy part is the same industrial ingredients as anything out there. Same as the Palmolive I use which I'll admit smells like German Irish Spring and makes me a little ruddy if I don't rinse fully.

I am very happy to see you use this kind of product. The one thing I ABSOLUTELY DETEST about wet shaving is the elitist, militant and out right snobbishness of some wet shavers when it comes to using non-traditional or mass market commercial products and if it's one thing you are not; it is a snob. I have been watching that small dark mark under your chin since the cut occurred and it seems that you are having the same experience many of us with dark complexions with such small cuts; discoloration and a noticeable darkening of the area. The solution(AND IT WORKS AND WORKS WELL)to restoring the skin to its normal color is applying a small amount of Pure Cocoa Butter on the spot twice daily. Once in the morning. Once at night. And I can not stress enough to use a tiny amount of the butter. Cocoa butter in a lotion or other moisturizer will not work as well. You need to use actual cocoa butter. Here, in the States, it can be purchased at any pharmacy, many super markets and discount stores. It has a strong cocoa scent as in cooking chocolate and smells edible(IT IS NOT!!!)and it has a very low melting temperature much like a chocolate candy bar. Anyway, I telling you; apply this substance and in 2 to 6 weeks(it varies based on skin type and melanin content)the spot will vanish without a trace.

It happens in every hobby. I used to be a vaper and when I first got into it, I bought the cheap shit. All the vape youtubers on the internet were using $300 gold finished, hand crafted vaping mods. They would refuse to review Chinese clones and would badger people who bought the mainstream gas station stuff.

I’m right there with Paul. This stuff has really put dent in my continuous shave soap search. I do love brushes and soaps, but I cannot dent any longer that I get a WAY better shave - comfort during especially- with this canned cream (and Gillette Foamy). Barbasol especially. Their new Pacific Rush I also now love. Almost ticks me off. Ha. Great video and thanks for giving your honest opinion of Barbasol.

I was a Canned foam and cartridge razor daily shaver, but then I discovered creams and soaps and brushes and safety razors.. Although I love the process of creating a lather with a brush, I can't deny that I get a closer shave with the canned foams, but I get a lot more razor burn using them unfortunately

The key to really make this stuff shine is to a) make sure your face is soaking wet just before applying and b) dispense merely a golf-ball sized amount to your wet fingers and really work it in adding a little water to your fingers as you go, and rubbing it in until it's slippery and luxurious. Oh yeah, and let it sit for a few minutes before you shave, great stuff!

I like barbasol, but I like Gillette regular shave foam, because it has a glide formula that makes it slicker. Gillette regular shave foam does not dry out my face and it has a nice old spice type scent. Also when I use a foam I get my face very wet and then get my hand wet. After that I get a very small amount on my wet hand and then I rub it on my face. So there is enough water for the razor to glide on. It's nothing like shave soap, but it works well when you want to get cleaned up and don't have time to make a lather. Happy shaves Paul!

Ah as far as I'm concerned Paul you're shaving with luxury there! that stuff really is good on my skin and I get a perfect shave every time using it. I usually follow with Fine American blend aftershave, it's supposed to smell identical to barbasol but it doesn't but it is a fantastic barbershop scent. Anyway great to see you mate great shave and see you in the next video

Great shave. Based on my experience, the Barbasol is probably the only great canned foam for me because of how its great performance but it lacks slickness like canned goo. Even when I become a wet shaver, Barbasol will always bring back memories of my cartridge shaving days. My cartridge shaving days might come to an end later as I might get a wet shaving starter kit. After switching, I'll be even happier with soaps and creams than the canned creams

Paul, one thing I do with the Barbasol Original is to wet my face, then hold a small puddle of water in the palm of my left hand and dispense the cream into the puddle with my right, then rub my hands together then apply. The extra water seems to "slick it up". I have been DE shaving for 10 years and I get as good a shave with Barbasol as I do with my brush and Proraso. And the scent of the Original is fantastic. Very nostalgic and comforting. The Sensitive Skin formulation is great, too, if you can find it. Barbasol is made just down the road from my house, right here in Dublin, Ohio. Cheers, Paul!

Hello Paul. I learned recently that the cooling agents used in electronic cigarette eliquids were originally patented by Wilkinson Sword. They have names like WS-5 and WS-23 and are used to give eliquids a cooling/ice/menthol feel, the WS refers to Wilkinson Sword. Originally they were designed for use in shaving soaps but now are used in many other ways. As a vaper who makes his own liquids and a wet shaver I found this really interesting and thought you might too.

When I first started DE wet shaving back in Dec. 2016 I started with a can of Barbasol a Merkur 23c And Aqua Velva as the aftershave. That's how I did it for two years. Its thanks to channels like yours that I finally upgraded to some TOBS Sandalwood cream and A badger shaving brush, and I love it! Great Vid and God Bless! Preston from Texas.

I used to use Colgate canned cream which was similar but was about half the cost of Barbasol. Colgate disappeared from the market some years ago, and when the price of the replacements tripled in price I started just lathering with Ivory bar soap with less than desired success. Eventually the internet came along and I was introduced to Arko and TOBS and I find them much superior to my old way of shaving. Now, I couldn't see myself shaving without a brush and a proper soap/cream. But once again Paul, you have entertained us Yanks with your honesty with a dash of humor which is much appreciated. Cheers, mate.

Yeah it’s only a single pass shave cream. Most of us in the states don’t touch that stuff and that’s why I absolutely love TIKI soap’s 1920’s barbershoppe shave soap. Absolutely amazing scent, consistency and slickness. And they have an aftershave splash to go with it. Have a wonderful day sir

I was on a day trip to the US a couple days back and picked up a can of Barbasol Sensitive as well as Barbasol's body wash - they were both $1 each. Also picked up a bottle (glass) of Stetson Cooling Moisture after shave, just over $5 and really quite terrific. A vintage find last week that I'm quite pleased with - an unopened gift set of Aqua Velva from the 1970s. All in glass bottles, all still smelling fantastic. Beyond the classic Ice Blue that's still made there was also Surf, Redwood, and Frosty Lime - none of which are in production any more. Frosty Lime is particularly nice - a shame they dropped it.

Every so often I find some unused vintage after shaves - I guess depending on how they have been stored and the fact they are in glass bottles helps them keep. Beyond the Aqua Velva set I've found a quartet of Mennen Skin Bracer varieties in a display case, and boxed bottles of Hi Karate & Everest (made by Avon)...it's little a little trip back in time lol.

Barbasol is a well-recognized American manufacturer of shaving products. I used the cream featured in this video for several days, and it left my face with a significant acne breakout. Perhaps not advisable for those with sensitive skin. "Neigh, I say unto Thee." It does a fabulous job on cleaning the leather seats/dashboard in my car, however... And my car smells like a barbershop!

Ooooo..Barbasol! I used that once or twice on visits to the US years back...I love the scent. You're lucky to get it there - here in Oz, I haven't seen it at all. I must say, I haven't used shave foam in about 3 years now (nor a cartridge for that matter) so I think I would miss the ritual and the control over hydration I get with whipping up a face lather if I went back to a foam (even once). Good quality lather keeps water to the beard to make cutting that much easier. Maybe just keep some water on your face when you apply this stuff. Great shave mate!

great shave Paul , Barbasol was my first shave cream when I first started to shave. The reasons for not using can cream are numerous . First , the propellant used in the can will just dry your skin out. I have listed the ingredients below : do you really want these on your face? Water, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Isobutane, Laureth-23, Aloe, Diazolidinyl Urea, Fragrance, Methylparaben, Propane, Propylene Glycol, Propylparaben, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.

its odd that as an american here in the states, ive never liked either a canned shave cream or a multi cartridge blade razor. id only shave once a month cause i hated using them and they murdered my face. finding channels like yours and being introduced to the world of wet shaving using DE razors and soaps and the other tools, i love shaving now.

Paul, thanks for the video! I have been expecting for this video!! You must wash your face after every pass and keep your face wet before you apply the Barbasol. I am enjoying Barbasol connected to the Conair Warmer lather machine. Take a look at this lather machine!

Rodrigo Kill yup, that's the trick. Just a few drops of water in the Barbasol on a prepped face gives a great shave. People add water to hand whipped lather all the time then ding Barbados for being stiff and dry.

Before I discovered D.E. shaving, Barbasol in the can and a Gillette Cart razor was my weapon of choice. It always dried out my skin.

Very interesting video my friend. Believe it or not that was very similar to the first shave I ever did when I was 12. The only difference, the razor was my dad’s Gillette Silver Flair Tip. Great shave sir. Cheers

The barbasol can definitely smells good. I find that there is no slickness as you say. The Gillette foamy can is just as thick and way slicker. Great Elvis rendition!

I notice your cat came around after you started singing 'are you lonesome tonight'. Coincidence? Or is your singing that good😋😋 Good shave though Paul. I much prefer the lathering of soaps nowadays, but it's always good to go back and see what other products are like.

If I use Grapeseed oil as a preshave and don't shake the can, to reduce the amount of propellents that come out , Barbasol provides a terrific shave can't get enough of that scent, the extra moisture purple can has lanolin and vitamin e

Barbasol is the best and only shaving cream in a can that is made. Anyone saying anything different are sheeps that think they're $35 shaving cream is the only thing everyone else should use. Found out, recently, that Arko is great as well!

The general consensus is that this is decent for the money but not slick enough which would make some pre-shave slickness really worth it in this type of shave like the cube from Phoenix artisan accoutrements kinda thing.

I like Babasol more than the canned shaving gels. With Barbasol, if you shake it- you get that foamy stuff you got, which gets dry. But if you do not shake it....its a runny white stuff, which make the razor gliding better. Same thing when your can is running out. And you need an aftershave balm because the skin will be dry. I also think that the Nivea gel , that many people adore is useless (at least the one they sell in the US) - that one is sticky and clogs up razors...., it's some kind of liquid plastic fluid.

My Father used Barbasol for many years and thought me to shave with Barbasol when I was 12.

Do you know I think I'm going utterly nuts. Everytime you start at the top lip area i seem to tighten my top lip as if I'm shaving. Madness. Lol I just realised this and think I've always done it. Men in white coats are on the way.

I used barbasol all my life until about 4 years ago when I discovered your channel and I've never looked back. About 90% of American men use canned goo. The problem with it is that it's so airey it lays on top of your beard, the positive points are... A) it's cheap and a can can last you over a year, and B) if you're in a hurry you can shave your face the same time it takes you to brush your teeth or comb your hair.
