Barbecue in the shed. The tradition of the "gauchos" of southern Brazil: 400 tons of meat. Part I 

Every year during the first 20 days of September, the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, celebrates its traditions and culture. And the greatest expression of the celebrations are the camps that are set up in several cities, such as Porto Alegre, the state capital. For 20 days, hundreds of people carry out cultural activities in rustic sheds, and practice their greatest passion: grilling.
This year, 2024, there were 200 sheds, in addition to restaurants and other establishments that offer typical foods. Thousands of people visited the place, where they enjoyed a traditional barbecue in a friendly atmosphere. In total, 400 tons of meat were consumed.
