Found this video while searching for a video on how to add a barb to barbless hooks. Lol. There are some nicer hooks out there, but unfortunately they are barbless. Which I believe is bullshit, but I can't change that. For now.

You can't fish barbless hooks properly mate i have caught lots of fish using barbless had barbel to 13LB and carp to 42LB all on barbless hooks and barbed hooks do cause damage to fish when the barb passes through the top lip the barb shreds the fishes top and bottom lips environmental agency agree that barbed hooks cause damage to fish if you keep your line tight you will never have a fish come off thats FACT tim i have used them for over 10 years on the river wye and commercials i rarely fish commercials ALIEN

I feel that this can grow into long debate BUT still I put answers to some statements. =As for the politics. There is 0 of it, or I least I didn't want it to sound like that at all. I believe that when I am creating smaller injuries, I am practically minimizing chances of problems which can occur later with the fish because of the injuries. =As for small Perch dropping off whilst swinging them. It’s not related to the hook being barbless/barbed. I fished in groups with other people, who are using barbed hooks, plenty of times for small Perch and on some days lots of them will drop off (say 50%) for everyone, whilst on other days just very odd one will drop off. It must be related to how they feed on a given day. Thanks

@@AndrewsKnots That's an interesting observation, though I fished many different days with the same results, so feel it really was the lack of barb that made a difference.

If you read my original post i say i have removed all my treble hooks on my lures and replaced them with single barbless hooks tim i go to USA for a month every year lure fishing as well as the uk barbless hooks tim work a treat what ever your preferred way of fishing is i had 17 zander last week on the river avon all on barbless single hook lures ALIEN
