I regularly fish the Bristol Avon, Thames and Windrush but you’ve inspired me to travel up from Oxfordshire next month for a couple of midweek days at Cundall Lodge Farm!! I’ve not visited North Yorkshire for many years but your beautiful rivers and scenery will make the 200+ mile journey worth it I’m sure!! Please keep your videos coming!! Cheers!👍
Great video. I've read you can't drive down to the river this time of year to avoid getting stuck? How far a walk is it from parking to the river pegs?
It's much better now but if it has been very wet it is better not to drive to your peg. The walk from the farm to the nearest peg is quarter of a mile (downhill)

Fear it might be quite boggy and river in flood even. Fished helperby last weekend after watching your video of the stretch, I struggled but my dad had a nice Barbel 😀👍
I've been up there a lot but now you cannot get up there because of the corrosion the track he drove up is rough you need a 4×4 still a beautiful place
I have only caught bream but I have been told by a reliable source that there are good tench. As tench fishing is a dawn start I cannot claim to have seen any. There are also pike in there which is what the few anglers who fish it target. It is interesting as you don't know what will turn up.
yeah, sheephills was a good stretch till they ruined it.. Had some nice fish out of Cundall lodge, biggest being 11 lb 4oz... There used to be a swim there knicknamed 'the suicide swim' which did some good fish... the dog leg running up to the top of the stretch was always a good peg, though it change somewhat after the 2007 floods. Might have a look back down there back end of the season.
stopped fishing here about 2008 due to the Geordies, shouting and balling at each other, fishing with 12 rods total disregard for other anglers. Are they still about Charly or have they moved on?
+j99oel I haven't experienced anything like that but I tend not to fish there at weekends, avoid the more popular stretches and leave within an hour of sunset. If you're after big barbel it takes some beating and there's plenty of room to hide away from the worst elements of the angling scene, not all of whom are from the north east. The two stretches immediately upstream of Cundell Lodge are no longer day ticket because of such behaviour which tends to push them onto fewer & fewer venues. Try night fishing at Collingham Weir!!
Exactly the same thing happened on the river Ure at Ripon with lots of families on the banks and children running up and down. That isnt what I want to see when I go fishing.
Yes, but it is extra cost. It was £5 for the day and an extra £5 to night fish (off at 6am). I think it is the same this year but ring to find out. Join Leeds DASA. They have miles of uncovered water.
