For this session I was on the Wye for the day. The local river level gauge showed the river was low but the colour said something very different. What was going on?
As I mention in the video, the dissolved oxygen levels had dropped considerably that morning but were slowly recovering through the day. On closer inspection of the telemetry data the ammonia levels had spiked that morning, the most likely cause being that sewage had been dumped into the river. No wonder it was a strange colour. I'm glad I cleaned my gear well when I got home!
