I am 64 and still have my Barbies and all of their clothes which I kept with their accessories in little plastic baggies. I was the only girl in the family and spent so many happy hours playing with them.

I received my Barbie for Christmas in 1961, I still have her! It was her wardrobe that was so exciting! The little details were amazing! I remember the little zippers in the dresses. The little gloves and shoes! It took my love of fashion to a new level!

I got my first Barbie for my birthday in March 1959. If we knew then that she would still be around today I guess I wouldn’t have played with her. LOL. Loved my Barbie. My Mom made clothes for me and my sisters Barbie dolls. She made each of us a wedding gown. When my friends saw our gowns they all wanted one. I think my Mom sewed 15 gowns for all our friends and had to make each one a little different. Great Mom and a great memory.

Me and Barbie are about the same age and I remember when my sister got Barbie for Christmas and I wanted a Barbie after that, but I never got one,so when I grew up I started collecting dolls and Barbie was one of the dolls I collected

I have the Mary Kay Barbie, and it was so fun to hear Christopher mention that Barbie. I've always been so proud of her - I had to earn her as a consultant myself. :) Great tribute to Barbie, the beautiful American icon.

🎂🎈🧁March 9th, 2024 Happy Birthday Barbie🎂🧁💖💖!!! Rachel and Christopher, I did not know that 👩‍🚀Barbie was an Astronaut 👩‍🚀in 1965, which was way ahead of her time😃😃👍👍👍!!!! I was not alive during the 1960s,so I never heard of Astronaut Barbie!! And I so LOVE Christopher's Solo in the Spot light Barbie 💖💖as well as his Birthday Barbie Surprise💖💖!!! And I still have my Malibu Barbie that is displayed in this video by the lamp!! This is how Barbie influenced me as a Child. I was learning disabled, shy, and bullied as a kid, but Barbie was so glamorous and confident!! I went from being shy to starting my own Club during Recess and I called "The Superstars" after Super Star Barbie, but sadly I never had Super Star Barbie😭😭!!! And when I was a little girl I wanted to grow up to be a glamorous Woman, so when I was 7 years old, our Elementary School Counselor wanted us Kids to all draw a picture of ourselves. Forgive me if this sounds egotistical, but I was only 7 years old. I drew a picture of myself dressed like I would want Barbie dressed with a Ballroom gown and long earrings and I entitled the picture, "This is me.". So, our Elementary School Counsel showed my Mom the picture and she found it interesting that I drew myself like that because none of the other Children drew themselves with a Ballroom gown and long earrings. I hope you do not mind me sharing this silly story, but that is possibly some of how Barbie influenced me as a Child. My Mom was a Teenager when Barbie came out in the late 1950s, but my Mom likes that Barbie is glamorous and very feminine. Like my Mom said, "In the late 60s early 70s Women felt they had to look like Men in the Work force.", but I like that Barbie is allowed to be feminine in the Work place!! Thank you so much Rachel and Christopher for sharing these beautiful Barbie Dolls with us and for celebrating Barbie's 65th Barbie!! And my Mom thinks that there should be a Baby Boom Barbie that is actually 65😃😃!!!

❤ great video!! I have all my vintage Barbies, Skippers, Ken, Midge, Allan, etc from the 60s (I’m kinda old 😂). I have repros and silk stones, too. But, not enough room to display them all! I need to rearrange my entire house 😂. Thanks for celebrating Barbie’s birthday!! You’re my favorite doll site.

Happy Birthday Barbie! I’m sp glad Christopher accidentally wandered into your life because I love watching the two of you together. You have a chemistry that brings me a lot of happiness. As for my own journey with Barbie, I was a kid in the early 80’s. My two older sisters had Barbie’s that I loved, and while my parents didn’t buy me Barbie’s they thankfully weren’t afraid to buy me boy dolls. I had Western Ken and Sun Lovin Malibu Ken (the one with the tan lines). I definitely have pictures of me on Christmas morning with my Ken dolls. I’ve have to pull them out some time.

That was wonderful! Thank you for sharing stories about you and Barbie, Rachel and Christopher. Here's some of my little stories with Barbie. She came to me as a family, the Western family when I was around 5. Barbie with her Superstar face (no wink), Ken with his black leather pants, and Skipper with her sweet face. Loved the removable skirt. My grandma was a dressmaker, and always loved to watch her sew, touch all the fabrics. Visit shops with thousands of colorful buttons, miles of lace... I love doll catalogs, dealer catalogs, tiny catalogs for children. I was fascinated by the vintage clothes. All those separates felt like miniature clothes of what the mom was wearing, in the 60s and 70s, and Skipper clothes sometimes looks like matching clothes. It really seemed that you could wear the same clothes than your Barbie or Skipper doll. I was also amazed by the quality. Only bought one, the pink dress, pink ribbon at the waist and shiny sleeveless silver top. It was an absolute joy to feel the fabric. My grandma let me touch so many fabrics, to this day I always touch the clothes in stores, to feel the fabric. I was a member of the Barbie club for several years. I was waiting to get a letter in the mail. Loved it as it was just for me, and not a letter full of criticism.. These letters were addressed to me, very colorful and fun. Sometimes there was even a small book. I kept everything!! My favorite was the yellow letter of California (dream) Barbie. Love palmtrees. Wonderful moments ❤ Thanks to both of you 🙏 Btw it was funny this little glimpse at your first meeting Christopher. Maybe one day, you can tell a little more? 😊 So glad Christopher knocked at your door.

I’m sitting here trying to stay busy, but my heart is breaking but that is a very private matter. I sit in front of many of my vintage Barbie outfits I have collected over many many years. They bring me joy - perhaps because they are how beautiful life can be and should be. My first Barbie (blond pony in zebra stripe swimsuit) cost me $3.50, my aunt purchased her for me plus the red sailor jacket/white shorts with the amazing cork sandals and a CHARM bracelet!! I began sewing as my Mom said no more money for doll clothes. I have seen for Barbie , myself in high school, and for my Tonner dolls and hope to continue for Grace.

It's truly heartwarming to hear how your vintage Barbie outfits have been a source of joy and comfort through the years. The memories attached to your first Barbie and the journey of sewing doll clothes reflect a beautiful tapestry of creativity and resilience. May your collection continue to be a source of inspiration and a reminder of life's beauty, especially during tough times. Keep cherishing those moments and may your passion for sewing flourish with Grace.

I was born the same year as Barbie but I was never given an actual Barbie. I had Midge. I loved her....bought her clothes but was envious of my friends with the actual original. Would love one now....but she is way too expensive for me so I opted for a "weird Barbie" from an amazing etsy artist that I am so enjoying . She cracks me up !! Loved the movie !! I have one for Christopher if he would like one for his collection. Just let me know !! Thank you both for such a lovely Barbie Birthday tribute !! So fun ! Such memories ! ❤🎉

As a child in the early 1960's, what attracted me to Barbie (I grew up with Madame Alexander Wendy and Cissette dolls) was one thing only--her CLOTHES! I actually found her form off-putting, much preferring my Cissette dolls' figure to Barbie's, but the detailed, exquisitely-sewn fashions for Barbie were the stuff of dreams for me, not to mention the tiny perfect accessories. I had little interest in the career-oriented outfits, but the glamor of her everyday wardrobe was just so swoon-worthy I couldn't resist saving up my weekly allowance for the chance to acquire another piece. If I thought of the doll herself, it was as more or less a mannikin for all her dreamy outfits.

None of my childhood Barbies survived. What I loved almost more than the doll, is the clothes. The shoes!!! It was always so sad when I lost a shoe. Now my Barbies have an enormous choice of shoes. The first Barbie I got as an adult, is Radiant in Red. Love her. Love making clothes for my Barbies.

Loved your Barbie presentation. Christopher!!!!! It was Awesome!!! Now that Barbie’s friends are more “worldy”. What do you think of the new Barbie “Friends”? (perhaps. They are called the “Looks” collection”? just curious??? I think Barbie empowered women, but the new dolls speak to a wider audience of different ethnicities, & body shapes, (perhaps empowering both genders….as well as body types, especially the curvy Barbie…just wondering….thanks again!!! I Love what you are doing, creating, sharing, etc..,!!

Women in effigy are among the earliest examples of art. Tiny stone figures of Goddesses proliferated in every culture before monotheism and even now the Virgin Mary is as beloved as ever as are Lakshmi, Pachamama, Erzuli, Yemaya,, The White Goddess...even Isis (whom the Jesus story was stolen from) has modern day devotees. Barbie too is a Goddess of sorts, The Mother Of Pink, the beloved feminine face of corporate capitalist consumer culture. Love her or hate her, she too is a powerful representative of the eternal feminine.
