You could try bath paints, that would be my guess on what would work.

I would try homemade chalk paint if i were you it's equal parts water and corn starch then a few drops of food coloring is optional, but whatever you do don't forget to stir, stir, stir. Also just a bit of a heads up if you do decide to try this suggestion, this particular chalk paint doesn't show up at first, but then as it dries it gets darker and you can see it.

U just place the little tubs inside the tray they came in and use the lid to keep them fresh.

Hey here’s an idea! Try kids hair colour spray , its washable so it might work I’m thinking a chalky type media will give it that colour water swirl we want :P 🤷🏼‍♀️😅

Try watercolour paints (the ones in tubes, not solid paints in a palette) and dont add any water to it. Paint the doll and let it completely dry before dipping her in hot water.... hope it works 😁👍

Hey, if you want to get a lava effect..oil paint will get the best effect because oil and water don’t mix therefore the oil ain’t in the pretty pink color will glob together and the clear water will stay separated

Mattel! Send Mommy series 2 when it's released! The fans have spoken! I want to get one of these Color Reveal dolls to experiment with . . . I'm very curious what they actually use to coat these dolls with. Oh, I thought of something after you mentioned vinegar. You might be able to get some of the orange off Cheeto Barbie by soaking her in vinegar. I've seen artists use vinegar to clean brushes before. You might also try soaking her in diluted fabric softener. (Or vinegar, then fabric softener, and back and forth a few times.) I know fabric softener also helps with brushes full of acrylic paint (another trick I've seen artists use). There may yet be hope for poor Cheeto Barbie.

You need to use something that is going to actually react easier with water, or the easier method would be not using water. You could 100% get this to work with a baking soda paste, and dipping it in vinegar, and you'd get that fun (but a bit messy) baking soda bubble up too. (think grade school volcano projects) lol...

as all of us could see- original paint had a white under-tone, like, its not just pink paint, it turned water milky- not stayed translucent like all paints you used. ssooo.. maybe chalk? i saw a video where grind up blue chalk had a similar effect. you have to grind up a lot of chalk and first dilute it with water to make paint tho x)

Hi! I'm thinking the coloring they use to color the Barbie dolls with is probable some sort of food grade type coloring. Since kids might try drinking the colored water. I've noticed the food coloring liquid drops they sell at grocery stores when dropped in water swirl like that. Maybe if you painted a light coating of paste variety of food coloring ( sold with Wilson and other cake products at grocery or specialty stores) would work. Maybe thickening the liquid variety a little with soda or baking powder or something. ??? What do you think? I feel like a mad scientist or something! I'm curious to figure it out too! 🤔😬

Watercolor might work, but it would take lots of layers.

I think that the paint will stay fresh if you put that cup back in the paint holder and put the “lid” that you threw behind you on top and I think that will work. At least that’s what I thought of. 😊

If you buy liquid water color and let it dry, it will swirl beautifully in the water.

You should try Water-color paints. They seem to dissolve better with water.

I don't know if this would work but I feel like you need something power based like eye shadow or talcum powder? Maybe you could mix it with something to make a paint or you could dunk the doll in water and pour over some crushed eye shadow while it's still wet? Not sure if the water would be sticky enough though 😬

Those paints are meant to put in paint pallet slots and close then up with the pallet’s lid I think

You might try something chalk-based. The original coating came off in a way that reminded me of chalk powdered into water.

guache is water activated so if it does dry out, you can reactivate it with water

Have you tried poster paint? I remember it being quite thick, matt and powdery textured when I was in primary school (kindergarten) and obviously it was washable as it was for kids🤞🏻

You should try bath bombs that might work and get the satisfying effect your trying to get.

I think you almost have it. Do you need something that’s a little more water soluble than that. You could try the temple paint, or even watercolor paint.

I think with all the babbling, we should just call you Brook(e), Mommy. :P For 'Cheeto Barbie' you can try Super Clean which is usually in the automotive cleaner section at like Target, etc. Soak it in that for a little bit. Might work fine on the color reveal doll plastic.

I wonder if using paint mixed with aftershave on the Barbie then dipping in water to take off after it drying would give that effect

What about mixing the paint with some kind of oil, not oils paints because they dry too hard but maybe mix with baby oil and see what happens
