You made me laugh thinking back about calling friends in the 90s, the 80s even! I remember my best friend and I would tie up the phone for 12 hours at a time talking about boys...in a code language we thought only we could decipher but was probably really obvious to our parents. One time my friend hid in her closet so her Dad wouldn't find her on the phone. Bless technology for empowering personal freedom!!!
Loved the Clueless transformation Arjen!! I absolutely adore 90's crimped hair 😍. Phone Fun Skipper is so cute and so similar to the barbie extra! I grew up with Tropical Skipper's face mold from 1985 🤗!! I also vote for a new series of vintage barbie inspired transformations!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳😁 Yaayyy!!
Hey there! Just curious, have you ever tried using a flat iron or crimping iron on low heat to re-do your dolls hair? I use it all the time on vintage Barbies from the 90’s after I boil wash and have had some great results. You just have to spray the hair with water and keep the iron on low heat.
I like this doll I just don't understand why she has a picture of French fries on her fanny pack it just is so out of left field and doesn't fit in with her whole aesthetic! And this isn't the first time I've seen Mattel put food on the dolls outfits! I find it so strange!

Controversial opinion. Disappointed the pleated skirt doesn't go all the way around. And the plastic leggings. Mattel is trying but they really need to invest. MGA is the same price point with real clothing, fasteners, zippers, etc. BTW... did you order Crystal Fantasy Barbie?
Have to agree with you on this one! Mattel is relying on Barbie’s name a little too much i’m afraid… No I haven’t.. maybe you wouldn’t expect it but I don’t feel much for her .. 🤷🏼♂️✨

I hope she's not pixelated. *sigh* Bring back the Superstar era and glamour. Mattel has this treasure chest with Barbie and I feel like they're not leveraging it. And they have definitely ignored the adult collector community. I'm over here like "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" but there aren't that many high quality dolls they've produced.

I noticed that the the 90s Skippers are fragile necks as well. I have an original one that just broke as well without even trying to take it off. Great restyle! They are such a cute pair. I used to have that Skipper, but I got rid of some of my 90s dolls around 10 years ago and sometimes regret it. She was my only Skipper with that face mold along with Pizza Party Courtney.
I use a metal comb to comb doll hair with. It glides through the hair and doesn’t pull as much hair out. Most people who root new hair use a metal comb. I buy mine at a pet store. Try one out and let me know what you think of the difference.🥰
Great concept, great implementation, great tips! I am older than you, but I also enjoyed the 90s references. I have never seen Clueless, but it is on a streaming service I just subscribed to, so it’s on my list for this month. Also, I haven’t bought this doll yet, but I am planning to. It’s good to hear her hair is better quality.

Dr Arjen I hope you enjoyed your trip. My 1999or 2000 skipper is more of a tan Tomboy look. She was part of a beach tan series. I bought her some school cloths, at the time when Mattel put out high quality Barbie cloths. Then i bought her a jogging out fit. Then I got her a skimpy top and short skirt out fit with yellow heel slippers. Being a Tomboy, she hated them.
If you are interested, I managed to take my Extras from box with minimum damage. Including the Deluxe one. The videos are in my playlist "Barbie Extra". They are in portuguese,but I think It is possible to understand. Extra 7 was the best unboxing, to me,because the box is in great conditions.
I must have 60+ '90s Barbies, with hair of all textures. I have not had curl or crimp loss on any of them. I have 6 Totally Hair Barbies, for example, so I've had a lot of practice with crimped hair. I just never boil wash kanekalon hair for more than 3 minutes, even straight hair, because A Thousand Splendid Dolls says it can frizz if it's in hot water too long. (And Shelly knows everything about restoration.)
My 1st Extra box took me like half an hour to open!! 😂😂 I wanted to preserve the art on the back and I also didn't want to damage the doll. I still don't know how to open these boxes properly 😂😂
I love dolls, but hate unboxing them! I love this doll too amd styled the hair down on mine. I gave her outfit, minus the jacket and shoes, to the braided pastel rainbow haired extra doll.

She is very cute. #8 finally popped in stores here and I snatched that doll off the shelf instantly. I still need to wash her hair and tweak her outfit a little. The girl deserves some real shoes 🙄
