Alright, I was totally not crying until you got to the part about not needing someone to push her. Like you I’m glad she’s so versatile. And thank you for clarifying some aspects of life with a wheelchair. My sister has limited mobility, though she’s not in a wheelchair right now, and people really don’t grasp that you can need one sometimes and not other times.
I'm 16 and I use a wheelchair part time for cerebral palsy and I Lost My Mind when this doll came out because its not a hospital chair it's a real chair just like mine and I've never seen that before!!!! My doll arrives next week and I've never been more excited!!!
I have to say that this is my favourite review of this Barbie doll. Anyone either young or old would find it inspiring. I think now that Mattel could come out with more dolls like this one so that all children are represented. Ones with hearing aids, guide dogs and maybe an athlete Barbie with running blades so that nothing is off-limits. Not just your imagination, but your reality too.
Yes dissabled people aren't confined to their mobility devices like a wheelchair kinda like how my white cane folds up because i don't have to use it all the time. I like both the barbie and unicorn!
love this new doll. I am in a wheelchair but a power one. I think some doll company should make a power wheelchair (like the AG Car). I used to horseback ride as a child as well love ya
Literally started crying when you reviewed the Barbie. I’m so happy that after all these years they brought out an acceptable disabled doll. I am in a wheelchair and I’m trying to save up for her! I’m so happy she exists right now 😭💛 and she can still move like I can so it really does reflect me. Thanks Mattel. Also I’m gonna say it for the people who don’t know ITS OKAY IF YOU STILL LIKE BARBIE IM 15 AND I STILL LOVE BARBIE!!
I can't tell you how happy you just made me! I still have tears in my eyes. As a woman born with a chronic illness (with a closetful of a wheelchair, walkers, crutches & canes) the AA version feels so representative of me. I've wanted her for a while, but I'm definitely purchasing her now that I know that she's a Made To Move doll as I'm not in a wheelchair fulltime. Thank you so much for sharing this you made my day.
I love this so much! My daughter who will be 4 in June REALLY wants made to move barbie dolls and they are not easy to find.... and the fact that this Barbie is in a wheelchair is dear to my heart. I have worked with people with disabilities for 20+ years and its important to me that my daughter grows up knowing that we ALL are unique and we ALL have gifts to give to the world. I ordered this doll today and am so excited to receive it for my daughter.
Omg I need this barbie, I hope they keep marking this and also Ken dolls maybe in some magical setting with different disabilities even a blind barbie or Ken I remember having a crush on a blind animated character when I was a child he was from a movie called quest for Camelot.
I am so happy they made a made to move Barbie and and wheelchair and I am and they will check as well and I love you Channel Mommy and I love that Unicorn to
I wish I would have had a doll that was in the wheelchair to relate to it might have made it easier for me to accept my wheelchair sooner than waiting to be an adult and accepting it then. Thank you for doing this video.
This barbie is very important. My husband is in a wheelchair, he suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and it's been effecting his body since he was 13. He can walk, he is active but he can't walk or stand for long periods of time without causing himself serious damage. So that she's Made to move is such a great thing. And everything you said just hit so close to home and it made me tear up. Even more reason to love you. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story.
Love this video- my daughter has SMA type 2 and uses a wheelchair and I particularly love how you use this as an opportunity to educate about wheelchair users 💗
I didn't think that Mattel would put a MTM Barbie, I thought that she would be a normal fashionistas Barbie with bendable legs, but it make sense, since a person who is in a wheelchair must be able to move it. And the wheelchair is very detailed, I like also that they added the platform. The top is very cute, and also the jeans. I wonder if Mattel would also do some dolls with crutches in the future (I was thinking about my mom). My mom got polio when she was young, and she got a shorter leg compared to the other one (she was very lucky); when she was older she did a surgery to "block" her knee and to lengthen her leg, and from that moment she had to use a crutch (now she uses two crutches because she broke the "sick" leg some time ago), so I was very happy when I saw this new line, meaning that Mattel thought to add disabled people in their toyline (not counting the ones with different hairstyles/skin colors). My mom also walks a lot, despite using the crutches; one time she also went up in a mountain (ok, the road was large and not so steep, but it was a dirty road, and from what she told me it wasn't easy, even with the help of my dad, but she wanted to go in the hut/restaurant up in the mountain, and nothing could stop her). She also told me that, when she was younger, she played a lot with the sledge when it was winter, or before she got the surgery at the knee she also climbed trees with the help of her friends, so yeah, a disabled person can do a lot of things, if they want to. I'm happy to hear that you got to walk again, and I liked your discourse about people with disability ^_^ PS: the unicorn is also cool :D
Pamela's V Log there was an original wheelchair Barbie doll, however she wasn't compatible with the original dream house, so she was pulled off shelves
@@Mister_Dollz The original doll I have is missing one of her wheel outer rim.... But she is on my dresser along with one of the newer ones. I hope to get the other one here soon...
@@rosem3240: They could have her bedroom on the first floor. My mom can't walk and she doesn't have to go up stairs. Granted, we don't have a 2nd floor but still...
@@PaladinHeart I think the point of the new dream house is you get to the rooms with the elevator and since the elevator is able to fit wheelchair dolls it’s sorta making it more accessible
Cute! I didn’t know they have these! I have a build a bear with a wheelchair that I bought along with the bear. Is it weird if I’m 24 years old & I want to buy this? Lol
I love her, and your description of wheelchair life! I, also, live with a condition that looms a wheelchair all the time- thought not MS- but you put all of my thoughts into words! Definitely need her in my doll collection now lol
Such a great video. I’ve been in a wheelchair before because I had my first ever knee operation on the 9th of October 2014 when I was 11. I was in a wheelchair over my 12th birthday: 18th of October 2014. Keep up your great 👍 and amazing channel 😉
When you said their was programs for people in wheelchairs to go horseback riding, I know I program were they teach horse back riding lessons for children with autism down in Virginia, my parents took me down their once, I really wanted to ride a horse once I visited them, I think they were going to get me in the program but now I live so far away up in Baltimore MD! I wonder if they'll ever come out with an Autism awareness Barbie!
It might be a little difficult, considering autistic people look just like everyone else. They just seem a bit shy and stand-offish, but very smart. I suppose any barbie doll that's like a scientist, astronaut, etc.. could be considered autistic.
I bought the wheelchair Barbie for my niece. She doesn't really understand why some people need to use a wheelchair but she thinks wheelchair Barbie is cool.
I have RSD and use my wheelchair when I'm out of my house. I love this doll, I do wish they'd offered a curvy version. I love the hand sculpts, they're almost in the right position to look like she's pushing it herself.
I think it's really cute I have a Barbie that has a persistent leg and I love her too I am a one day I think I might get this Garvey the one that's in a wheelchair and I'm glad that you got better and I'm glad there's medicine out there for you you do a very good job on these videos and I've learned a lot I got my Barbie I was walking around Walmart and I fell in love with her and I call her Jasmine and then I got a little Kelly Barbie doll and she has a little sister but I want to get her someday 2 me and my sister have 79 dolls now we are going to have 81 dolls when we get the American Girl doll every year we get the American Girl doll every year and then we get it be forever adult her godmother gifts just American Girl dolls we also have dolls from Walmart from 18 in and we also have baby dolls and we have American mini dolls and we also have we have little Barbie dolls
