I visited Colton Point State Park and Barbour's Rock last year. I was able to sit on "Cliff's Seat" then. Definitely, one of the best seats to view the canyon, even with my fear of heights.
Happy 4th of July everyone, and God Bless America! For my money, the view from Barbour Rock is one of the 10 best in PA, certainly one of the most iconic. Hope you are enjoying the day Cliff, and everyone else out there, a truly beautiful location in Pennsylvania! I was under the impression that the second overlook you made it to is the true Barbour Rock?!
That was sensational Cliff, glad the smoke from Canada was gone for the most part. there seems to always be some haze the farther/longer the view is. I was surprised you went out so far on the "unrailed" lookout, I was fine where the guard rails were. Happy 4th everybody!!😀😀😀
We hiked to the bottom of the canyon and back twice years ago. We went both sides. I remember one side was nicer than the other. It had some waterfalls as I remember.
I always enjoy this trail. We did some hiking on the STS and Billy Lewis trails back on Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for sharing one of my favorite places!
Cliff thanks, I have never walked out to Barbour Rock, wish I had. Been to Colton Pt many times starting back in the 50s. have picture of my dad standing on the rim before they put the railings up. I have driven from Colton Pt to Rt 414 many times. Lots of views . Many other roads to explore too. Camp there back when the camping area is the grassy areas just inside entrance on both sides of the road. My family would have a picnic at the pavilions that were built by the CCC in the 30s. There is a view at the far end of the picnic area, road makes a loop back to leave by the entrance .
Amazing!!! I just got back from the black hills in South Dakota and it was similarly minus the trees! I looked for a channel sticker but didn't find one...must have been too late...lol😅
been meaning to take my girlfriend here for a while! i looked online and it seems like there’s a few different parking spots to get to the main overlook, so i’ll figure it out
