Her homeland is the United States. She was born in Brooklyn, not Israel. Her parents were born in the USA. Her grandparents emigrated from Poland & Ukraine & Russia. Geezus bud if ur gonna do bios on people, get ur facts straight. Sharif was an islamic convert and Streisand was jewish, people were pissed about their religions, not their homelands. People are generally stupid
People were pissed because they were adulterous . Believers condemn the sin. You can't become a star....which means you milk an audience...ka..ching....and then go...FUCK YOU AND YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS....see what I mean. I also condemn sin...I try...not to condemn the sinner....cause it ain't fair to judge....but the truth is, what they did...had a reprecation....live and learn huh....
The late Omar Sharif was married to Egyptian singer/songwriter and top billing actress , Fatim Hammah.I met Omar with my husband on St. Catherine Street in downtown Montreal. He became a close friend of my dearly departed Egyptian husband, Samir Shafik Seef. Since I had loved his movie Dr..Zhivago so much, he gifted the magnificent great coat he wore in the movie to Sam. Omar was humble, charming, loving, generous and very kind.I believe Miss Streisand saw much potential in him, hence she did Funny Lady 1 and 2.
@@hildegardderbal5908 You would be doing a kind gesture of writing F.H.'s name out in proper Arabic.I saw so many of her films back in the day when I went weekly to the Montréal Arabian cultural centre. I simply attempted to give an anglicized version of what her name sounded like. Headlining, beautiful, Egyptian actresses usually can sing and belly dance when inspired by the gifted and beloved works of Oom Kalsoom, poetess/singer/ songwriter.Hope I have now clarified the facts.I learned to read and write Arabic as a young wife, aged 19.Blessings.
I think it's so cool that you knew him. He was one of my first movie star crushes, after seeing Dr Zhivago at the movies. He was so handsome and from interviews, you see his intelligence and humility. He was a great talent.
IF you are doing ANY reporting, please pronounce and KNOW the interviewees correct pronunciation of their names!! Omar Sherif(Shay-reef) and Barbra Streisand (Bar-bra Strysand) phonetically.. Also Barbra is NOT who she appears to be!! She hates America, is a communist who hates this country and personally, I am still waiting for her to “leave the USA”, which she and Alec Baldwin have been “threatening” to, 🙀🙄👍 as early as GW Bush became President, and possibly as early as 1980, when Ronald Reagan won the POTUS election!!
I don't believe her first husband was selfish or jealous. I believe they simply had different philosophies when it came to acting and the spotlight. He said so himself. He was an actor that didn't necessarily desire fame, while Barbara seemed to lean into it
I just watched he'd the video after reading your comment. And I'm sorry but I have to strongly disagree. He was very much jealous or felt threatened by her success. His comments very much indicated that. If you can't see that, then you likely harbor those similar feelings such as his to others and are in denial.
@haleykeck7430 Some men want a wife that will stay home and be a housewife (especially back in the day). She was in demand as her career was really taking off.
What a fantastic singer, her voice was unique and her beauty as well. I have admired her since first I heard her voice, her songs. I am happy to know that she have found happiness along her life and finally a good man that can love and care for each other. ❤️❤️😍
So true about love and lust. I hope people read your comment and take it seriously. During the lust stage, even hormones are elevated, like dopamine. People equate these feelings with love when they are not and in fact will fizzle in a relatively short time. But true love will last. through the ups and downs.
@@AlicedeTocqueville I was referring to the romances that do end in marriage but get divorced in a year. They are madly in love but divorced the next year and madly in love with someone else. It was never love. I am not interested in marriage. But I know what love is and what it isn't
Spend a year at least on a daily basis in a marriage bed with someone you're not sexually attracted to from the start, and next tell me what love is. Now who gets charged? LMAO 🤣
I am number 42! So my Barbra Karma is in good stead. Thank you for posting this. I like knowing my girl has a happy life, now. I wish them all the luck in the World.
I think she lives her life well. She made the most out of her Talents and lovers, what a great men she dated. Looks like she had a lot of fun. Love her, she is very inspirational for me. Don, t like her music but love her life style. Fearless!! 😎👍♥️
I always thought Barbara was exceptionally beautiful. These limitations that we place on relationships and people is ridiculous. Her talent is undeniable. We were told that Barbara was incredibly shy. It seems odd that she loved the spotlight.
So, by "these limitations that we place on relationships and people is (should be "are", actually) ridiculous", do you mean to say that you frown on fidelity within a marriage?
don't confuse love with lust and desire. Love is sacrifice. Lust and desire are self serving. A relationship should have a foundation of similar beliefs so that it will grow stronger, not so one of them has to give up their beliefs for the other.
Was about to comment something similar. As prolific as Streisand is, I feel sorry for her son. And the comment made by the video commentator "love should not have any boundaries" ... utter rubbish. So grandma, thanks for that very kind and restrained remark, I would not have said it so sensitively myself,🙊
@@julzluvzdollz Well, l think there's more to life than marriage. Not for everyone, that's true, but I wouldn't have missed some of my affairs. Just because they weren't meant to last, doesn't make them worthless, for either of us!
Good video. The only thing being that the pronounciation of many of the names was off - like the emphasis put on a different vowel ... but I've always though Barbara was a regular person, not egotistical in her fame. When she first met Brolin I remember people thought he was with her for her fame and money but I'm happy that they have stood the test of time. He's a very talented actor in his own right. A very good happy ending.
Thanks so much for the feedback Thexxit, we always appreciate our viewers keeping us on our toes! We understand we got the pronunciation of Brolin wrong, that was our mistake and we'll make sure to be more careful next time ;) As for Barbra Streisand, that is how she pronounces her last name. - Otherwise we're super happy that you enjoyed our video and their story!
All this hullabaloo over two people who fancied each other for a while is ridiculous. These things happen between people in offices, hotels, between neighbours ..! Barbara Streisand appears to be a very focused, ambitious and hard working girl.. Thats precisely why she reached where she did both as a singer and actress. I simply loved her film " Yentyl" on the jewish community.❤️
I was in love with 1970’s Barbara Streisand, at 10 years old 😂, my older sister, 16 had the soundtrack to “A Star is Born”, and I would listen to my favorite songs like Evergreen and My Heart Belongs to Me, etc sometimes use lyrics in love notes to girls lol😂
No, no, no, you have it totally wrong. She didn't have 300 police guards reduced to 30 in her private life, it was during and ONLY during the Central Park concert. She forgot her words to 3 songs but it had NOTHING to do with her 'affair' with Sharif. Why do you make things up?
James Brolin was born in California, but this video's narrator seems to be mistaking him for a French immigrant. His name is pronounced "BRO-lin" --- not "bro-LAHN"; it's an Anglicized stage name. (Wikipedia says that his father's name was Bruderlin, which is also not French; it's German.) I do get that some people weren't born soon enough to hear his name on TV back when it was a household word because of his good looks and his prominent role on MARCUS WELBY, M.D., which was a hugely popular prime-time series when it was new. But the gossipy notion that Barbra Streisand's attitude toward her own fame destroyed their marriage by making him jealous is just silly. Female stars were not respected nearly enough for that. People talked about her as if she could never be quite good enough to be a REAL star (as opposed to a comic) because women weren't supposed to have big noses. We girls were supposed to think she was lucky to be appreciated by a REAL star as handsome as James Brolin, because she was to be seen as derelict in her womanly duty to be pretty for men. If anyone did feel jealous enough to get sucked into some pathological competition with her fame, it's probably the person who whipped up that tall tale about her. Misogynist much?
Like any other couple, celebrities or not, it takes love, energy and commitment to make a Marriage work for the long term. It is wonderful that they can be a model for everyone, whether in the public eye or not. I am thankful for their sharing so. honestly.
@@cbel888 You don't necessarily know what you're talking about. You religious types just assume your beliefs are the truth. But it's so often true that those IDEAS are just a crutch for you. And most of you ignore a central teaching of your own religion: judge not, lest you be judged. And there's also the teaching about the widow's mite; before criticizing the mote in another's eye, remove the beam from your own!
@@cbel888 Where in your, apparently small understanding of the scripture you profess to believe in does it say you are here to judge others? That's literally the least Christian thing you could do.
@@AlicedeTocqueville I WILL SPEAK ABOUT MY RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, IN 4 LANGUAGES IF YOU WISH. YOU SPEAK WHATEVER YOU SPEAK, WHOEVER YOU ARE ........ABOUT YOUR BELIFS NOT MINE.....IDENTIFY YOUR BELIEFS NOW. I AM AN ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN. WHO ARE YOU?
I'm so tired of men who can't handle their wife being successful. When men are successful their wives are supposed to fawn all over them, even accept their affairs, but when women are successful, God forbid they "overshadow" their man. No wonder she fell in love with another.
@@whatevergoesforme5129 You're right. All religions are a plague. Any person past the age of 13 can understand the absurdity of the god myth, if they just imagine what THEY would do if they were omnipotent and all knowing, and actually created everything there is. Of course they'd create pain and ignorance, just to see what would happen. l guess he didn't have cable. If that was a god, I certainly wouldn't worship it. (Don't want to "humanize" the entity; it insults me.)
@@whatevergoesforme5129 That's such a common thing now that there's an expression for it: 'whataboutism'. Justifying a mistake (or a FAULT) by saying, 'well, Johnny did it, too!'. So lame. Did that work for you in elementary school? I doubt it.
He is one of the world's most amazing artist. She not only can sing like an angel she acts and can dance. Barbra Streisand is one of my top three favorite people. I'm not even going to listen to this video because it's nothing but negative bulshit
Barbra. Not Barbara. STReisand, not streiSAND. Barbra never said that "her affair" was the reason she didn't perform for 27 years. A lot of this bio isn't exactly accurate.
She hated the name of Barbara so she shortened it to Barbra which is her unique name. Most people in here always forget she’s always known to be Barbra, not Barbara.
Nie trzeba być piękną, trzeba mieć urok jak Barbra. Talentu nie przepijesz, nie znajdziesz. On albo jest, albo go nie ma. Basia - to legenda, nietuzinkowa, zdolna Pani! ❤❤❤❤
Omar doesn't have problem with his religion everytime he's in love he converts 😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂 His first wife was Muslim, and he did convert from christianity and changed his name to Omar to marry her ...then he wants to convert to Judaism to marry Barbara 🙉 The religion doesn't mean anything to him as I think .
She looks so terrible after the plastic surgeries ,the skin so tight and smooth ,so artificial and unrealistic for her advanced age .It gave her an angry look and made her even more homely.
Narrator, I think you are a human. You mispronounced almost all of the people’s names in ways that make me think you have no idea who these people are. I like your channel, but is there an app to solve this?
Thanks so much for the feedback Starry. Our narrator is indeed a human being ;) We understand we got the pronunciation of Brolin wrong, that was our mistake and we'll make sure to be more careful next time ;) As for Barbra Streisand, that is how she pronounces her last name.
Thanks for correcting us! That's totally our mistake and we'll make sure to be more attentive next time. Always appreciate our viewers keeping us on our toes! ;)
I remember her in the movie, "What's Up Doc?" with Ryan O' Neal. Man, I laughed so hard watching that movie!! She, Charlie Chaplin, and Harold Lloyd were hilarious. I DIDN'T watch any of her heavy dramas. I don't like tear jerkers. She and Amy Winehouse look a bit alike.
I think that deep inside she always knew that she is not beautiful. Sorry to say, but she just isn't and never was, neither are her eyes nor her nose and not her mouth. She is a great singer and a good actress, and I have to admit that there is something about her, but possibly only on screen.
She wasn’t classically beautiful (cupcake cutout) but she was beautiful in her own unique way. Btw. I can’t stand her, but I give credit where it’s due. Oh btw, she has a heavenly voice to add to her attributes.
Why ? both of them are hugely talented, consenting adults: He was not married to Faten Hamama any longer, another hugely talented actress, and Barbra's marriage was on the rocks: Jealousy, envy for sure
Her bew auribio sats it was Stdney Chaplin's awful behavior toward her toward her during the original stage version that caused her stage feight. And ir's BRO-lin, not Berlin.
