Barbra Streisand is such an icon. I met her for exactly one second in California. She was coming out of a bank and I was going in. I was looking at the ground and then I looked up and she was THERE. I spoke to her, "Hello Ms. Streisand" and she said, "Hello" back with a really warm smile. That was it. But, it was a wonderful experience for me. That was probably 30 plus years ago but I never forgot it. She a beautiful, warm, and talented person.
@Robin Long Time ago when is was working in Ezeiza Airport (Argentina) i met Mr Robert Duval and i say Hello Mr Duval is a pleasure to met you AND i was hoping that he told me the same in english and i forgot that Mr Robert Duval speak very well in spanish in that moment Mr Duval in pefect spanish say to me EL PLACER ES TODO MIO that means THE PLEASURE IS ALL MINE and all that little story is because i want to say YOU ARE MORE GREAT IF YOU ARE HUMBLE and KINDNESS and i really dont like when i see that a lot stars lose the kindness and grateful we expect as fans I think Barbra is humble and kindness and grateful to the people the same way Mr Duval was with me.

I met Jay Leno just about as superficially. I was walking through an airport and we were walking in opposite directions. I just said “Hey Jay” and he just say “Hey”. And that was it. He looked so tired and I didn’t want to bother him and I just greeted him and asked nothing more.
Barbra Streisand calling steve jobs when her laptop when she was having problems with her laptop has to be the most iconic thing ever. love this woman so much.
@Dan Smith - I don't know. I think James's voice is pure heaven. He can sing with anyone and sound great....even with Barbra Streisand! I was quite impressed with him here. I was amazed at how well they blended, and I think Barbra was impressed and charmed by him. THAT is an accomplishment when Barbra thinks you are good. So what about a little bit of tummy. The boy can still move great! I think he's sexy as hell...as a man comfortable in his own skin, which is highly attractive.
@@patricedecourcy4505 IM SORRY...IM JUST TOO SHOCK!!, I LOVE BARBRA SHES THE GREAT AMERICAN SINGER I AM THE MOST SEXIEST HERE!!BECAUSE....I AM CIRCUMCISED OK!!
Many are unaware of Ms. Streisand's heart . She donated a chunk of beachfront property in Malibu to a nature conservancy . Untold millions of real estate . She chose "Imagine" for this because she truly believes in the lyrics . Much respect for Barbra , she kicked in doors & is a perfectionist . She's taken a lot of criticism from peers as well as fans , but always remained true to herself and principles . She will forever be " Simply Barbra " .
She is, indeed, INCREDIBLE!!! She sounds so awesome, it's a delight to listen to her. It's so cute when they're singing in "What a Wonderful World", he is looking at her absolutely adoringly, just like a super fan would! I think this was even bigger than Paul McCartney for him! This was fantastic!!!!! I don't know how I've missed it?!? Glad I have it now! 😀😍😱😃👏👏😍😁😄
I am 70 now and I have vivid memories of having to walk to the bus top to get to high school way back in the late 60's. The walk took anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes and I would belt out Barbra's songs the whole way. I dearly loved her voice then and now. It didn't matter to me that I couldn't hold a note in a bucket. I could hear her singing in my brain and heart and that's all that mattered!
@@carlofantiga5058 - Streisand, even as a 77 year old woman, sounds better and less murky than most mediocre artists. In fact, Streisand"s mediocre is still superior to other artists.
I'm actually curious to know if the youths of today know who she is Press like if you know. If not gway and go listen to old music and educate yourself. Side Note.... Music never dies. It ages like a fine wine.
She's just too cute. I love how cheery and excited she got when Siri pronounced her name properly. I didn't even realize that people were pronouncing it wrong. Barbra was a constant voice on the radio and face on the TV when I was growing up. I watched her in Funny Girl, Funny Lady, Hello Dolly, and The Way We Were. I just loved so many of her songs and performances. Her duets are absolute perfection (especially with Barry Gibb). The Way We Were, Evergreen, and I've Dreamed of You always gets me so emotional. What a phenomenon Barbra is.
Yes exactly! I feel the same way. Just grew up with her everywhere on telly & radio 📻. I was just always in awe of her beauty that just shone threw her vocals. Fabulous woman 👏
That is not a wonderfull look 🤨....that is the look of „i dont want to look like i am over 70 but 😳the damn Plastik surgeon can only do cat faces with no expression left.....so now i am a not wrinkled cat.“ But year she can still sing wonderful.....
Maybe because her peak of stardom was before my era, I just don't get the fuss around Barbra Streisand. I find more of her music dated and not memorable beyond some of the musicals.
Her voice lasted until her early sitxites... after that diminishment. Its range is gone, and her voice is always hoarse now. Wish she hadn't had all the yanking and pulling to her face either. Plus, that's not her hair. Don't all land on me, she saved my childhood. Just telling it as I see it.
Barbra had simply been lucky for a long time. Shes admittedly lazy when it comes to vocal study/exercise. She’s also a pot smoker which mixed with age can lower a woman’s register. It is still beautiful for 77 but amazing? I’d say no. But art is relative. I’m happy you enjoy it though. I adore her!
Listening to her book now because I saw her interviewed and she had great stories. She is such a likeable woman! So funny and fun. Brave, curious and kind. I just never knew any of this.
James brings out the fun with Barbra...never have i seen her this relaxed and easy to be with...every future interview with Barbra should be conducted this way!!...WONDERFUL CARPOOL...
James Corden. You've got the best job in the world. I'm 54 and have been a Streisand fan since Stoney End. Don't know if I could have been so calm, cool and collected in her company. Well done!
totally agree with you. I would be a screaming nut. But well, James Corden can sing niceley. I can't. But still, in the presence of Streisand..... No way!
I was thinking the exact same thing. Like James must just freak at least once a month at the people that he gets to do carpool karaoke with. I wonder whose idea was? But hhe has sat in the car and sang with absolute legends! He's such a sweetheart and you know he never takes it for granted and totally appreciates it.
I have loved this woman's voice since I was a kid in the 70s. It doesn't get any better than hearing her sweet, strong, oh so controlled voice. 😁😁😁💖💖💖💖
@@Pestyfield When you are 70+ years old and you have been performing for 50+ years, you can charge what you want. For those who cannot pay, thankfully there are videos. I would not have paid for her concert had I not been performing (for free).
Wow. Look at her tearing up at the beginning of Memories. I had the privilege of singing (in a choir) on stage with her for two nights, and it is an experience I'll never forget. The moment when she looked at us and smiled in appreciation is worth so much.
I would die in her presence. She is incredible. My parents took me to see her live in concert. And that night was so magical and so breathtaking. And to see this side of her completely in her own essence is so refreshing. I thank both my parents for introducing me to a remarkable talent and yet a beautiful humanitarian. Thanks for sharing your Barbara experience.
I worked as a security officer at a marina way many years back. Barbra was there and Don Johnson was with her and they were there to make an appearance. It would have been impossible to find someone that was sweeter or more genuine and kind than she was to me that day.
So "unpretentious" that she demands to sit on her "good side" in every interview and talk show appearance, causing the people to rearrange things for her. This whole setup with the booted car was so she could be in the passenger seat, on her "good side". She's not even really driving. They're on a platform that they use for camera crews to film people in movies to look like they're driving, because she can't drive. (Look out the window at how high up they are over the cars). All that for her "unpretentious" self.
@@teehlfx5238 The skit was enjoyable because James Corden's team made it into something funny. And I do like her and think she's talented. But she is notoriously demanding and difficult. I just call it out when people talk about how "down-to-earth" she is.
@hutch Life has taught me that unless you have had your own personal experiences with someone, you're really not qualified to use other people's experiences as if they were your own. There are always two or more sides to every story and if you were not actually involved in that story, repeating what you've heard is not much better than gossip.
Never, never, never in a million years have I ever tought of Barbra Streisand doing a carpool with James Corden. Never. She did it and it is great. I am 56 and her voice has been with for my my entire adult live. What a wonderful world was played on my mother's funeral .When I feel blue or happy she sings in my ears through modern technology. A few years ago she came to the Nerherlands, my home country, to give a concert. I had the money to a the ticket in the front row but I was to ill to be there. I saw her perform in my country, a thing I could never have concieved, in the news. It hurted like hell. And I missed it. It might sound silly but I will regret this for the rest of my life, because she has been and is apart of my life for so long. I don't just hear her voice with my ears, I can feel it in my heart. And I would have given almost anything to have been there. But it was not to be. So sorry I've missed you, Barbra. My wish has always been you humming the first bars of The way we were to me, but it was not to be. But great to see you doing things like this.
A living legend is someone who's stayed relevant, iconic and has been part of everyone's life's soundtrack since she started recording in the 60's until today. Today's singers don't compare our even can have the massive hits she's had.
of course they can't compare, they haven't had 40 years of career... 'cause they haven' t been around for that much yet? Like some of them have just started hitting their 30's... You should maybe wait until 2050 to judge how long people from the 2000's/10's have lasted (especially if you don't count the fact that a lot of those famous singers had their ups and downs)
@@celia1888 True. I personally think there are quite a few talents from the younger generation that will stand the test of time. Some people might not agree with me, but I think Lady Gaga is just beginning to show her true talents. She's a complex and multi-layered artist. Even her whispered singing has power.
Whether you like her or not there is absolutely no denying the vocal abilities this woman has. By a large number of vocal critics most agree that she is the best mezzo soprano in the world. They state why and it’s for several reasons but that was the consensus.
What makes this session great is the fabulous chemistry there was between James and Barbra. She was so relaxed and seems to be truly having a fabulous time. I could watch this video all day !!!!!!
I hope Barbra knows today and every single day how beloved she is, how revered she is, and how much she is a treasured part of millions of people's memories of growing up and making their way in the world with her beautiful voice like a warm breeze in the background. Love you Barbra!
When people today hear the word diva, they often just think of whitney, mariah, aretha and celine. They forget one of the greatest vocalists of all time and she is Barbra Streisand. She’s one of the very few singers who can sustain notes so long with a matching fast vibrato. Plus, she always sings with her heart. You can just feel the emotion in every word she sings. She’s a legend.
jay kay wtf I know she has had a ton of work done on her nose and who knows what else but I think she is gorgeous and she doesn’t look fake like other celebs!
She called Steve Jobs because she couldn’t figure out something on her computer And called Tim Cook to change how Siri her says her name! Who is this woman! Wow
I imagine Barbara doesn’t hear the word “no” very often. I’m not too familiar with her but looking at photos of her when she was younger she looks way different. Time is not kind to anyone.
@@AdieAdie17 right? I think it is sad. I really wonder what she would look like now if she had to self confidence to age gracefully, without the "help" of a knife. She was beautiful.

😱😱😱😭😭😭😱😱😱😭😭😭😱😱😱 So I’m watching Carpool Karaoke with James Corden & Barbra Streisand & Barbra was one of my IDOLS growing up, all through adulthood. And she was one of my mom’s favorites. My mom passed away 5 months ago. My mom was almost as good as Barbra, but too shy to perform. So far, up to 3:54 has been one song, mostly talking, absolutely hysterical, one of best I’ve ever seen. I hadn’t even thought about what songs she’d sing. At 3:55, they went right into THE WAY WE WERE & I had to immediately stop because I burst into tears and full on racking sobs. My moms and my fav song of Barbra’s and we used to sing it together. And it was the first song I learned to play by memory on the piano as a child. My first thought was that I wanted to call and tell her to watch. But I remembered I can’t. No idea was gonna be this emotionally involving. I still watched it but it just hadn’t occurred to me at all beforehand. Thank you James for this episode. Thank you Barbra for everything you gave us. Memories indeed. And now I want my mom.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😘
Awwww what beautiful words about someone who has touched your life in such an amazing way...I am quite sure your mother was watching Barbra AND you from Heaven...👼
A true music icon! Streisand has one of the best voices in music ever! Love it when she compliments James' singing by saying "Pretty". James should make an album with the artists who has participated in his Carpool Karaoke.
Barbra is such a charming funny girl. She can sing FUNNY songs, LOVE songs, SAD songs, POWERFUL songs, INSPIRATIONAL songs, Broadway songs and tell stories better than any singer. Pick any song from this new album of hers and you will feel that she is talking right to you.
@@juliet3827 I have to agree with you; she's even an old woman; but I have heard grown women refer to themselves as "us girls". As a feminist myself, I have always let that pass because it is women saying it about themselves. But no, it's a mindset that needs to change. There has to be a cutoff point, like 16 years is the limit between "girl" and "young woman" and 30 is just "woman". Another problem arises with Barbra, who is old but I balk at calling her an "old woman" because that insinuates she's useless.
God I love her! So authentic! What a magnificent singer & performer! So sad she stopped performing all those years. she is one performer WORTH seeing & hearing!
Maybe, but, knowing the reputation of the millenials, they probably don't know who she is, or if they do, she's too old for their consideration. I could be wrong, but, I'm living with one and if they don't do hip hop or rap crap, its rare that she likes a song that isn't of ilk, let alone know who she is, since my daughter would consider her too old for her tastes.

Tadzio5050 Me too! If you mean movies, she's great at drama roles, but she's friggin' HILARIOUS in comedies! The Main Event (1979) is a shining example. Made we wish she'd pursued more goofy roles in her career.
I Love Barbara. I am 62 and she has been famous my entire life. In my eyes she is a living legend. Her songs have so much meaning for me. Some are breakup songs some are love songs and some are songs of hope. I just love her voice and could listen every day. And her husband is one of my favorite actors way back since the 80's!
I saw Barbra in Hyde Park In London in 2019. A free concert paid for by the City of London. Barbra never let anyone down. She looked relaxed, with her pot of tea on stage. She had no reason to be concerned or nervous as everyone was with her. Just being herself was enough.
She gives me goosebumps the moment she speaks, let alone sings ❤️ What a gift she’s given us with her years and years of music and movies. She is a true true icon!
Barbra Streisand is a classy woman with a tremendous voice. I love her hairstyle. She has been my favorite singer since the 70's. What a treat to see her with James Corden.
I really dig her, that said, I think the 'long straight hair forever' thing could be improved by a shorter do, considering she is rather petite in stature. I guess boomer ladies dropped the 'cut you hair when you are 50+ thing', and they are going to look like teenagers until they die.
James you live an enchanted life... To be with Ms Streisand and share music and create this wonderful moment in time. Thanks to you and Ms Streisand for this event :)
Wow, lucky man. One of the best singers in the history of American music, great personality, ambitious and commited, outspoken woman, filmmaker, producer, songwriter, philanthropist is picking you up. This is fantastic!!!! Creme de la creme. Barbra looks GREAT!
@@lapluie6877 It's not about what her problem was. It's just about her, calling Steve Jobs himself, rather than going to any apple store to have her problem fixed.
Omg, I absolutely ADORE Barbra. I was listening to her when I was 8 years old, and all the other kids had no idea who she was, or those who did, made fun of me. I'm now 52, and I love her even more than I did 44 years ago. My bucket list wish is to see her in concert. I'd sit in the bathroom of the theatre if that's what it took...;
Yeah, he's constantly oversinging the REAL stars in the car. Totally disrespectful to the star and to those of us who click on the video because we saw Barbra's name on it.
Her voice is still beautiful. Naturally the vocal chords age over time but also it depends on how well you take care of your voice over the years. She has obviously taken good care of herself.
