Pt. 1 - "The Barbara Walters Special" aired September 13, 1985. Unfortunately, I don't have the entire show but I thought what I did have was worth sharing.
Miss Barbra Streisand is my greatest role model and my all-time favorite singer and actress. I'm only sixteen but I can certainly the talent of this one of a kind and amazing woman.
She looks so calm and relaxed. I love her houses. Her houses are like her - so sophisticated and arty! The ranch house is so poetic and heavenly with the birds singing in the trees.
I got to say when she talks about were her drive comes from then the doubt that comes along with it. That's how I've always felt but I never could put it into words...until now...thanx Barbara!
I remember when this interview aired. I was 15 and watching on the couch with my Mom. I have always loved Barbra (my Mom did, too, but she never liked Barbra's hair in anything except The Way We Were. Lol!)
Little did we know (and probably her too) how remodeling those tiny five houses would be merely a warm of things to come in home design. Her present day cliff top ocean front estate and "barn" are beyond spectacular (even by California kazillionaire standards).
I remember when Streisand came to Atlanta and they shut the huge antique shows for a private shopping spree for the primitive antique’s just for her . She bought everything and repeated the hauls several times after,it caused quite a stir in the antique world !
She is so right. Everyday is an audition and you have to prove yourself. She was so intuitive and insightful. Look how Britney, Madonna, Whitney, Christina and Madonna are treated nowadays. The trend is an ennemy. The day you grow older and change the course of your stardom, they immediately think you are a failure. The critic is the worse, the public is the worse. You need to prove youself constantly. Barbra knew it. You go girl.
@@chloebarry4025 No, she tried to sell the property but no one could pay the price. So she gave the 40 acre estate to the State of California. Probably for a big tax ride-off. She now lives in another much smaller Malibu estate on the coast.
I believe she is around 45 here. How many 45 year old women these days look as good as that!?!? Goodness gracious that's a woman who looks after herself! Of course, there are other factors at play.
Barbra herself has said there is no such thing as perfection. But that this doesn't stop her from the eternal quest to strive for something better. She believes in preparing the best product for her fans.
