Barbra is still very much with us. She is 81 years old. That 1980 song was her biggest hit and was number one all over the world. People like Whitney, Mariah and Celine all look up to her. She is a legend!
Oh NO... Barbra is still very much alive, thank God, and was still performing in concerts at the age of 77 just before the pandemic. In fact, during that 2019 concert, there's a clip of her dueting with Ariana Grande (50 years her junior but having no trouble standing toe-toe with her) on Barbra's Disco smash hit of the 70s, with the late legendary Disco Queen herself, Donna Summer, which I strongly suggest you react to. Barbra turns 81 next week and still plans to record another album and is releasing an autobiography in November. You have just touched the very very tip of the iceberg. You have just heard what her fans have been listening to for decades... and some of us, like me, since the beginning, more than 60 years ago. As you will hear as you, hopefully, continue to feature this incredible voice on your channel, she isn't referred to as The GOAT by many lightly. She's the only artist to debut an album at #1 in six consecutive decades. Her accomplishments go on forever with Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and a Tony, and countless other awards. She's also a terrific actress, both comedy and drama, and a songwriter. Watch and listen to her Oscar-winning song "Evergreen" she co-wrote with Paul Williams for her 1976 box-office smash hit version of "A Star Is Born." Heck, watch the movie, she's great in it. That long note you heard is nothing compared to the one she does at the end of her medley from her movie "Yentl" in "A Piece of Sky/Papa Can You Hear Me." That final note is about 20 secs long, and it's on YT ... the whole scene from the movie will leave you breathless. She was once asked in an interview, how she manages to hold such long notes effortlessly, her response was, "...because I want to." And btw, Barbra produced, directed, and starred in "Yentl" and was the first woman ever to win a Golden Globe for Directing. I could go on and on, but she's simply 'The Greatest Star,' a song she would sing in her very first movie at the age of 26, "Funny Girl" which she won the Oscar for Best Actress... little did she know she would become it. Great reaction to "Woman In Love"... this is from the best-selling album "Guilty" for which Barry Gibb wrote the entire album for Barbra. There's even two fantastic duets with Barry, the album's title and "What Kind of Fool"... borh duets can also be seen in clips of from Barbra's live "One Voice" concert in 1986. You are about to experience a once in a millenia talent as you start sampling more and more of Barbra's career, and I can't wait to watch you do it. 😊
Great song written by Barry & Robin Gibb in 1980. Barbra Streisand is one of the true mega stars. She has spanned over 6 decades of music. This lady has a fabulous voice & can sing many genres of music. She is a singer, actress & filmmaker & one of the few performers to have received awards in multiple fields of entertainment (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony). Love the musicals she was in especially "Funny Girl" & "Hello Dolly". She has so many great songs that were hits & she has done numerous duets with famous people.
That beautiful silky voice turns into a sharp knife, what a vocal reach and just beautiful strong song. It gives me the chills each time I listen to it. Thank you for sharing this. I strongly believe this song will never lose its power, it's hitting me every time
Song was written by Barry and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees. Barry produced thevAlbum with Albhy Gahlhutin and Karl Richardson. There is a demo of Barry singing the demo in his falsetto floating around, y9u should look for it. Barry also performs two songs with Barbra on this album as well as background vocals.
You're right that is the longest I've ever heard and I tried it five times and I couldn't hold it as long as she did😂 the only other one that's almost as long is Luciano Pavarotti singing nessun dorma
Great reaction! You should check out some of their live shows. Barbra is one of the most complete artists: singer, actress and also director of wonderful films! Greetings from Tandil, Argentina! 🇦🇷🤗
