That Barca team was perfection. The whole 2010-11 season was masterclass and a great footballing lesson. Valdes - Alves, Abidal, Mascherano, Pique - Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta - Pedro, Villa, Messi. And the best things was at the end when Xavi and Puyol gave the armband to Abidal and allowed him to first lift the CL trophy after he recovered from liver cancer a couple of months earlier.
Ernest Abor Maybe I'm young but never saw a Barcelona team being relevant outside of Spain. 2011 seems so far away. I only saw Barcelona being trashed and humiliated in Europe by Bayern, Juventus, Roma , trashed 4-0 against Liverpool's "B" team. A total fiasco of epic proportions at least since 2015 for Barcelona outside of La Liga. Irrelevance and humiliation. Meanwhile Real Madrid with Cristiano Ronaldo won 4 CL's in 5 years and 3 in a row, something to never be repeated again by any club or anyone for at least in 200 years. But hey, you want to get nostalgic and discuss if Barcelona were or not a great team in 1998, more power to you. Living in the past and of nostalgia and can be a nice and very comfortable thing to do.
@@guitarloca3875 They are talking about Peps Barca, None of those matches were under Pep so yea, you dont know what youre talking about about as you were "too young". but let me paint the picture for you... It was 2009 when they won 6 trophies in one year, and what happened was just unbelievable, they didn't just beat everyone, they were true gentlemen, they wined them, dined them, put on a Marvin Gaye record, started with foreplay, and proceeded to have their way with pretty much every one they encountered. and once they were finished, the opposition couldn't stop talking about how Peps team stroked it, anyone who dared to try and resist had their goal impregnated again and again and again, It was disgustingly beautiful how these guys did it better than anyone ever did, nobody wanted to bend it like Beckham anymore. They just wanted to experience a night under the stars at the Camp Nu. This bled over to the Spanish national team which was dominated by Barca players and a few Real Madrid players and won everything. This was clearly before you're time otherwise you would remember that this was the biggest thing in football history, Gone were the days where you needed 6'8" muscle men to get the job done, gone were the days where you needed to pay millions of euros to get that quality in service, Barcelona brought, their own 5'6" home grown players and completely reinvented how the games was played. Peps Barca gave us Tiki Taka, the False 9, wingers playing as fullbacks strikers playing as wingers, a weak skinny holding midfielder who had all the brains, goal keepers playing with their feet. this is why today you see players like Hazard, David Silva, Aguero, Juan Mata, Salah, Ederson, Ter Stegen, Laporte, Isco being given more chances at big clubs as more technical players were required instead of the traditional big hatchet men.
As a United fan that Barcelona team was brilliant legendary... But Man.utd and Barcelona had dominated European football for 5years prior to that check the semi-finalist of the since 2005 Manchester united and Barcelona dominated The champions league
that was more than half of Spain's national team that won 3 back to back major trophies, so there was nothing manu could do. That team was the best ever. That team made messi score 92 goals in a calendar year. THOSE PLAYERS WON EVERYTHING with the spain squad and barca team. Even Messi still dreams about that team. MSN can't even compare to Xavi, Ineista, Messi, Busquet.
Best team ever. I would say Messi's high was 2017-2019. New coach, different formation, different style, very aging squad. He became much more of a playmaker yet still scored most goals those years. He was truly a complete player doing it all.
Francisco Alvarado I also agree that Messi's peak was in 2017-2019. A great Barcelona and La Liga player. Completely irrelevant outside of Spain, of course, as it's well known. Humiliation after humiliation in Europe. But good enough for La Liga, in the right club, in the comfort zone and at the right temperature. Now Barcelona must help Messi retire with some dignity and rebuild the team from scratch to become relevant again.
MF Aphex Heads Well everybody knows Ronaldo was stolen the Balon D'Or of 2018. They can give everything to Messi except a CL, the "Copa tan linda" as Messi himself calls it. or any type of relevance outside of Spain. A Barcelona fabrication. And now they don't even know what to do with him.
missmysuits...you should tell that to Papa Perez about Ballon d’Or 2018...he fixed games for Madrid for their UCL wins and he also helped Modric win his ballon d’Or in 2018
Its amazing how Barcelona haven't won the cl in 5 years with the players they had I thought they would win it last year but then they got annihilated by Liverpool I don't see messi winning the cl league again
I dont know how you thought they would win a ucl last year i watched every game. if they were favorite to win during the last 3 years including this year, then this is the most overrated team (and i'm an absolute barca fan)
It's not like the best team always wins, chelsea 2012 and Madrid 2016 for example weren't favorites and didn't have the best performances but still won, sometimes you need luck.
Just Made you need luck to win certain games, those consecutive referee decisions in the time Madrid won 3 consecutive make u think, Barça got lucky cause although we smashed Liverpool 3-0, that result was a lie, Liverpool played better, second game comes and we got smashed 4-0 but Liverpool got lucky since we had many chances to finish them off but the ball never went in
IMO barcelona of 2011 was even better than three treble winning sides of 2009 and 2015, they were just denied by CR7 goal in extra time of copa del ray final, that was an incredible team.
Maldini 3 But that was sooo long ago. If you want to remember Barcelona being relevant outside of La Liga you have to go sooo far!! Meanwhile Iniesta left in search of glory in Japan and Xavi the same but somewhere in the middle east and the team totally broke up. Barcelona now need to rebuild from scratch to avoid more humiliations outside of Spain where they are irrelevant since .. 2015 (!!).
@@pituxaazul3772 well i would not say irrelevant most teams in ucl still recognise barca as one of the best in the competition and they have got to ucl semi finals last year i think they have been bit unlucky for example without that trent corner againts liverpool barca would have probably survived and got to penalties. ucl is cup competition so barca can easily succeed it would not be suprise if they got to ucl final this year. they still have messi and decent players look at for example tottenham last year they got to ucl final so why not this barca side.
FINLAND You must be joking. Barcelona was comprehensively dismantled, humiliated and punished 4-0 by Liverpool's "B" team. 4-0. And it could and should have been 5-0 or 6-0 . Since 2015 Barcelona are irrelevant outside of Spain. A domestic team . The end. They must rebuild from scratch if they want to become relevant again. And help to retire Messi with some dignity. Making him coach of the kids in la Masia, for exemple.
pituxa azul first of all mane doesn’t play for the ‘b’ team, second you can’t say Barcelona have been irrelevant if they’re favorites to win the UCL every season lol
The scary part is Messi became exposed as a player since Xavi and Iniesta left being trashed on 4 consecutive years outside domestic league (let's not even talk about the Argentina situation) Barcelona must help Messi retire with dignity (making him coach of the kids in la masia, for exemple) and rebuild the team if they ever want to regain prestige in Europe.
@@guitarloca3875 The scary part is the since Xavi and Iniesta left, Messi has averaged more than a goal per game, and around 1.5 goal/assist per game, that's the scary part
@@sakshamkhajuria2867 yea cuz that was against a declining barca under rijikaard where ronaldhino didn't play, deco, gudjohnsen etc declined... And yet we still dominated you that match and y'all won by that scholes banger due to zambrottas error.. .. Literally messi was the best player on the pitch that game
2015/2016 Real Madrid team got lucky wining ucl that season. The 2016/2017 one was controversial of that Bayern match but overall that Real Madrid side played great and everyone did their job. 2017/2018 was also controversial because of that Bayern match again but overall were great
@@frontline8776 weakest ?? Nah all the barca teams with valverde are a lot more weaker than 2017 barca. I never said they would beat them but as we talk on the ucl context, where i feel like madrid always have something more than the others, in which that year cr7 killed the best three defenses that year, barca wouldnt win like 4-0, that real could cause problems but yeah i think as a barca fan 2011 barca is the best of the decade at least
Give me a break. Yes this barcelona is the best of all time, but the UTD team were a joke that is the difference between Pep and Fergie Pep would never be able to reach that far if he's team would have even one weak link
But pep won against united in 2009 missing many players in the back, they played puyol in the RB position and yaya toure as a CB. and that was against an even better united team.
That Barca team was one of the best of all time. But what is ale talking about? That man united team was fairly average. Midfield was dead. Backline was aging. The team was extremely reliant on the three forwards Rooney, Chicharito, and Berbatov
Carrick was at his peak. Midfield was dead. You guys underappreciated Carrick too much. He should be in the same conversation with your 3 English midfielder
Alex Ferguson had his full careers worth of knowledge behind him & he still couldn’t put together a team to even give Pep Guardiola’s teams game & pep had just got in to management.
lol how did i know that Craig Burley would have done this game , where United LOST, over the 1999 Final ESPN Video? i dont think i have ever heard this guy praise United, ever he is one of the most negative football pundits i have ever seen
Brandon Harro if you witnessed both teams then you’d agree 10/11 was better. One copa del rey doesn’t make that much of a difference. Don’t get me wrong 14/15 was superb but not quite as good as Pep’s.
The difference in football then an now is very different keep that in mind you stupid cakes...football is more faster now days an there's less space.. liverpool won't give xavi an the others time on the ball
