"Extended highlights". Doesn't show the entire attack. The combination between Luis Enrique and Rivaldo at the last goal deserved to be fully shown. Why make this video so long and then not show the important scenes?
One of the strange things is how Barcelona did not win the Champions League even though it had this strong formation and many distinguished players in that era.
@@M-yf5wx That era was stacked with top players and teams. And there was no trainer yet who completely unlocked football like Guardiola. Besides, the best team doesn't always win. Just look at Milan 2005.
As a rando American who adopted futbol in 2010, my rooting interest tier goes… 1. Man City 2. Fiorentina 3. Barcelona 4. Roma Always had an affinity for Batistuta. Underrated unique striker.
@@Leo-57 your wrong. Figo was a better player than Batigol. Rivaldo was better than Figo. But in 99/00 Figo was the best player in the world. When Barca played Chelsea in the QF - Figo was streets ahead of Ribo.
@@sugs6839 I don't share that opinion, a lot of people has a lack of knowledge about Batistuta, in 1999 Batistuta was second best FIFA player of the year and 4th in France Football ballon d'or while playing for average Fiorentina, unfortunately his loyalty to Fiorentina cost him some prestigious awards like ballon d'or, he was a fearless striker, from 1993 to 2001, only R9 and Romario were better strikers compared to him. Figo was not the best player in the world at any point, sorry, when he won the ballon d'or in 2000, it was for 2 reasons, first because he started playing for Real Madrid who has that capability to push his players to more notoriety, in fact he won that ballon d'or with zero team trophy while Zidane won the Euro, was POTT in Euro 2000 and beat Figo in semifinal through an outstanding performance, the second reason was because Fair play is part of the ballon d'or criteria, that headbutt from Zidane to the Hamburg player causes some voters to punish him. Please, Figo was more noise created by Florentino Perez around that transfer from Barcelona, and he was the first player to win a ballon d'or with zero team trophies. Enough said!
@@Leo-57 first off Batigol was a legend no doubt. But your lack of trophies argument by default means Batistuta did not deserve the award - silly argument. Figo was easily the best player in the world in 2000 and in 2001 (along with Rivaldo). But lets focus on 2000. Zidane had one outstanding game in Euro 2000 against Portugal where he upstaged Figo - ill give you that. But he was shit in the league and shit in the Champions league - a bit like 2001 tbh. Even Del Piero was more consistent than Zidane at Juventus. Figo in 2000 deserved the award more than any other recipient of that decade except maybe Messi. Figo was outstanding in the Champions league (the best player) - his performances were incredible - especially against Chelsea - that 5-1 demolition job he was insane. Had he not been suspended against Valencia and playing injured in the second leg - I'm pretty sure Barca would of won the CL - atleast they are in the finals. Bcos when he played the second leg Barca won and FIgo was their best player on the day. He made more assists in the CL that season than anyone else - and would have had more if Kluivert didn't squander a few. In La liga he was the best player bar none. Deportivo won the league bcos FIgo was suspended in the final few games. Figo was crack for Barcelona. In the Euro 2000 - he was the best player of the tournament apart from Zidane. He destroyed ENglaand, TURKEY and Romania. Zidane did not win Euro 2000 by himself - he actually did nothing in the final. But France had an incredible team - djokaeff, henry, pires, trezeguet, thuram etc. Djorkaeff being on fire ofc. So Zidane had 1 good tournament (3 games) and hes the best player in the world. But Figo was awesome all season but he is not? What a load of Baloney. Perez made Figo a star - what utter tosh. Yes he made him more known. But Figo was better at Barca and Sporting than Real overall btw. Funny thing about Zidane is he was actually very inconsistent and he only ever won trophies by being surrounded by the world best. Figo's first season at Real - they win the title, Figo breaks La liga assists record, Raul conveniently finishes top scorer and Barcelona need the greatest hat trick ever scored to clinch fourth. Real hadn't won La liga in like 7 years too. Zidane's first season - he does jack shit in the league. Real finish 3rd. Figo is off form with an ankle injury. But upstages Zidane in the group stages. But lucky Zidane scores the volley against Bayer leverkusen (outstanding goal) and everyone forgets his sluggish start to Madrid and his mediocre form at Madrid. Figo won the league by himself. Zidane needed a fully fit Figo, R9 or Del piero to do the same. Don't let trophies blind you. Messi has gone trophyless before - still the best player on the planet. I mean when Athletico won the league - r u saying Messi and Cr7 were rubbish? Utter BS. Come to think of it was Zidane ever the world's best - he was hyped by the media. No doubt. He never deserved the Balon D'or. Figo did. Zidane won world player year award 3 times - he never deserved any of them. Most inconsistent great I've seen. Figo was robbed on world player of the year in 2000. What did Zidane win when FIgo left Real? Absolutely nothing. What did Inter win when FIgo joined - 4 scudettos in a row - they had not won it decades prior to his arrival. An ageing Figo won more Scudettos and Italian Cups (was MOM) than a prime Zidane did at Juventus - FACT. And for the record FIgo was Inters best player in his first season. Figo is underrated, Zidane overpraised.
