It doesn't have to be, this is all stated in the bardock movie and DBS: Broly. It just wasn't told directly to Goku. Considering this information being told to Goku in this way would break the timeline again, I don't think it ever will happen.

All of this is non-canon. Also the “civil war” was entirely made up for this short(probably capitalizing off of invincible and the viltrumites.) Toriyama DOES forget stuff a lot, but this was never created by him.

Beerus ordering frieza to destroy planet vegeta for example ruins the whole point not only of the character, arc in which he was the villain in and vegeta's hate, it also makes the "revenge our race" speech vegeta makes to goku and ultimately the super saiyan legend which frieza was always scared of useless and pointless. Also, makes goku's fight completely useless cus he also fought frieza for his race's pride. Just one example. The whole dbs also ruined: -bardock and the whole goku backstory, now goku is presented as a perfectly good character, making his gead injury in og completely useless, the piccolo vs ape gohan completely contradictory and pointless since goku's pod simulated a full moon supposedly to make goku transform and obliterate the human race. -saiyan saga for these reasons too. -buu saga since whis never intervened when kai was literally about to die multiple times, leaving such little things unexplained. Buu, which represented an universal treath, wasn't taken care of unexplainably when he basically ruined the whole balance of the universe. I could continue for ages, dbs makes dbz useless and pointless, not only that, but also powerscaling and base cabba being at the same level of base vegeta for example makes Z characters look like amateurs, which they weren't.
