Barenboim & Argerich : Mozart Sonata for Piano Duo in D Major, K.448 0:00 - Allegro con Spirito 8:25 - Andante 18:12 - Allegro Molto
I am SO glad that I stumbled on to this piece. I love Daniel Barenboim and his approach to music. I also have been listening to Martha Argerich for years and to see them together making making such grand music on a difficult piece such as our friend Wolfgang created is PURE HEAVEN.
Ah, two grand masters still have their "chops" not only that, but are at the top of their "game" and by far, the whole of this performance is greater than the sum of its parts. Glorious - thanks to all!
They've known each other since they were children together in Argentina, piano prodigies just a year apart, and they look like lifelong friends when they play together.
baren boim has such a graspon the humanities in music motzart was a harsh logician and the spaces scream out this makes M the hardest to interpret argerich can be a strict motzart exponent she knows the german teutonic mind better than most thats why she floats through effortlessly beautiful creation
Both Argerich and Barenboim are legendary pianists whilst still in their lifetime. Their performance of this Mozart is exceptional and pure genius, so much clarity and so inspiring. The best performance I have heard of this work.
@@cweta4917Argerich is a slavish surname, his father was a descendants of Catalans, her mother, Juana Heller, was an Ukrainian Jewish, and Ukrainian are Russian so i partially agree, but she was born in Argentina. ♥️🇦🇷
Argentina is a country of raw beauty, whose people's warmth and passion awaken the brightest of the mind. It's certainly a good start to developing creative genius.
Horowitz said: “Mozart should be interpreted before 5 or after 80” they are like kids playing with cute toys, but in reality they are two legendary masters dominating a pair of giant black beasts with black and white teeth, as if it were a game, I love this 😻✨🎶✨ really art!

I adore the looks each Maestro occasionally gives the other. Each smile. Each knowing nod. No words required, both communicating with their fingers and an unsurpassably intimate knowledge of their art.
Signora is by no means the female equivalent to maestro. In Italian you would say maestra, quite simply. But it would sound a little weird in English, so... Maestro, even more so with a man and a woman both earning the title in the same sentence.
Felicitaciones.😊❤
This performance is pure magic! Argerich and Barenboim bring Mozart to life with their interpretation. This performance is also a testament to teamwork - they are constantly looking at each other like the pros they are and enjoy every minute of the score. Mozart would be overjoyed by this masterful and touching performance.
I love the way that thoughtful, poetic adagio is followed by a race to the finish line! How quintessentially Mozart, and how we love him - - and he loves us. He’s closer than you think. Jackie
I love watching them watch one another. One can imagine their hearts beating at precisely the same rate and their breathing pace the same. Such wonderful artistry.
Amazing performance! In the kingdom of intonation, harmony, elegance, two great talents merge in a single creative will to realize the genius music of Mozart!
This is glorious. I have always loved the music of Mozart. I came here because they have done a scientific study and found that the first movement, if listened to by people with Epilepsy, helps to diminish the number of seizures. All I know is it made me very happy to listen to these two amazing pianists. Wow. Thank you for sharing this wonderful music.
@@viviangoldschmidt2941 You should actually read my comment. I was not asserting that this movement helps diminish seizures, what I said was it was how I found out about the Sonata and "All I know is it made me very happy to listen to these two amazing pianists.".
Actually I heard in the radio news today that just this sonata has been seriously scientifically scrutinized as remedy against epilepsia, with excellent results!!! And I am more than willing to believe it.
@@martinfierro1558 omg thank u for replying to my comment from 2 years ago it brought me back to this beautiful video and now i'mma listen to it again :')

How great it is to see two seasoned performers kicking arse on stage together, playing masterfully and with such passion and nuance. So often classical performances are by younger musicians. Nothing wrong with that at all - but it’s good to balance the scales a bit and show the full spectrum of gifted musicians that we have in this world. This is such a beautiful piece of music, and they really brought it to life with such sweetness and clarity. Magic.
My wife has had seizures since she was 10, and she is now 65. She has had three surgeries and been on almost every seizure drug there is. None of this had helped. It was rare for her to go two full weeks without a seizure. We first heard about the Mozart effect on June 1st of this year and she started listening to this recording on June 2nd. Today is July 21st and she has not had a seizure for the past 51 days. Real or coincidence? We're not going to make that determination yet but this is the longest she has gone without a seizure for at least the last 20 years or so. We listen to this recording a couple of times during the day and she lets it play on repeat all night while she sleeps. We have added in Mozart's k545 as it is also said to help, just not quite as much as 448. Time will tell, but we're hopeful.
I can literally read their personality out of this beautiful play. Barenboim being so considerate for others and Argerich being strong and independent. The way their hair colors turn dim and white in the wake of time is just priceless.
Considering the loss DB suffered, his very very talented and kind wife many years ago, it's amazing he can get thru a day. May God hold him in the palm of His hand.
Bravo!! I have never heard such a perfect duo ! They are great soloist , and duo players , too.
They play together, as always, like lovers - each knowing and anticipating and, far more importantly, having fun - you can see it in their mutual affection for Mozart. May God love them forever....
You should see the love and respect Martha Argerich and Nelson Freire have for each other, When they are in each other's home in Brazil, fully relaxed and informal, you just love to watch them interact with each other. You could see how much love they have for the other and you cannot but wish they would live for a thousand years, gracing us with their musicality. I hope they are making many recordings of their lives as concert pianists which we could enjoy in the future. Perry London
(Argentina) graced by : "around 198 psychologists per 100,000 inhabitants" , I'm really not surprised at the greatness. I only just now learned of the Argentina connection with this performance and these Musicians. Thank you so much sigma 1024 ; thank you so much RU-vid. Yours truly, "alone but not alone at 0055LCT"
Dos grandes "monstruos" de la música. ¿ Qué más puede pedirse ? ...¡ Nada !
"Come on. Give me something I can bite down on here." "Here. Bite into this. Well?" "Yes. Yes. Oh this could use a little..." "Salt. Of course. But not too much. The main course is a touch on the sweet side." "Oh? You know the wine you brought is simply divine." "I know. The things you can get at the drug store these days." The intimacy of the musical conversation between these two is wonderful.
Did you know that listening to this Sonata reduces epileptic seizures in patients with this ailment? (Quon et al, 2021, Nature 2021, 11:16490). Well, I am sure we all knew Mozart is a healer, but we are now beginning to understand the physiological underpinnings of his music therapeutic effects.
In addition to the virtuosity, what a wonderful video production! Great lingering shots of faces and hands and absolutely no sign of a camera. Completely un-intrusive and perfect sound as well. Many thanks to those who put it together. Also, what a wonderful intimate space for music.
Magnificent! His hands are rather small in comparison....and hers......no wonder she can play the big ones!!!!! Very artistic, none the less, with these two. And Barenbiom is a marvelous conductor....Page turning at its best! Bravo!!!!!!!
Why does the 1st movement takes 8 minutes while other pianists completed it in 6 minutes? 8 minutes is not consistent with their smooth and fast tempo of performance.
I went to listen to Baremboim once in The Colon, like 17 years ago, I remember going, listening, it was him and a piano, but I dont remember anything else! Tragic! I was young, I remember everything, but not the music, I know I enjoyed it, I know it was good, but cant remember anything else. Poor me!
Such skill in their performance….utterly brilliant in every way! And I really needed something this momentous in my life right now!!! So unique and unmatched 🎉
Martha Argerich wohnt in Genf, Daniel Barenboim in London.
Beautiful concert! My two favourites Pianists! Barenboim and Argerich! Also the composer "Mozart" amazing to hear with passionate! Lovely with three movements, technique superb. Variety of fingers movement with dynamics. I enjoyed the music especially after I woke up. Gives me good move."bravos"!
These two former child prodigies have been doing this together for 60 years or more, since their childhood in Buenos Aires. Could any music making be better?
It's true that were born in Buenos Aires; Agerich in June 1941 and Barenboim in November 1942. But they never met there as children. Apparently, they never met until adulthood, and by then neither of them were in South America.
@@RWBHere In fact they did meet when they were seven or eight years old. A Viennese banker who had fled Nazi Europe had bought a mansion jIn Buenos Aires and organized a musical evening each Friday. All sorts of people attended, among them Martha and Daniel who were taken there by their respective mothers. Martha recalls that Daniel seemed to be able to play just about anything on the piano which apparently made her uncomfortable ! Later, as young adults, they led their own respective lives and didn't play together again until many years later in Paris, I believe. Happy listening !
@@margaretminiere7318 that's not what a 'meeting' really means for a lot of people. They did not meet as musicians. As musicians we meet and spend a few weeks jamming out. We don't see one another from across the room in a crowded place. That's not a 'meeting'. Unfortunately seems to be acceptable meaning these days ... whereby having met some one becomes completely meaningless. We know our online friends we never met better than most people we 'met' :)
Rita Verselle
