I know my comment is 3 years late, but I have to say this for anyone to see. Been watching several Bargello videos. Happy to see yours, because it was the best. I can always count on you to make your instructions easy to understand and follow. Thank you so much!
I have watched so many quilting tutorials and yours are by far the very best for me to understand. You speak slowly, clearly and articulate the directions and your hints very well. Thank you for helping me learn quilting techniques by a truly professional quilter and teacher.
thank you for this really helpful and detailed video. You are so good at explaining how to do this. Gave me the confidence to make a table runner. Bargellos looks very interesting.
Made with strips, 'usually the same width,' you said. Have you looked into varying the widths in the same way you vary the lengths? I think it would make a nice placemat, tablecloth, or quilt top. I also agree with Carole Johnson (below). You do a great job on your videos. You are clear about what to say, and say it. Likely as not this comes in part from years of teaching (a guess). Thanks for the videos.
Thank you Donna for the great tutorial. Love the fact that you always include the small details, like keeping the stitch length small so your blocks don’t come apart.
I love this design, but as a visual learner I’ve been hampered by most written instructions. THIS is a fabulous tutorial and I think I finally “get” it 😊. Absolutely beautiful result!! Thank you for your awesome videos ❤
I am a "new to quilting" student. I LOVE your channel here. I made your Christmas tree napkins. So easy and so fun. I want to make this table runner as a wall hanging above my living room windows. I'm excited to get started. Thanks for your easy to understand instruction. :)
only just found this. love bargello quilts and using a jelly roll takes all the headache out of selecting and sorting the fabrics. my DH spent 3 hours fetching and carrying fabric bolts in the shop to get 20 purple batiks but the end result was worth it. great tip re the stitch length & seams, probably really obvious to expert quilters but us beginner's appreciate your clear, concise instructions which make all the difference to the end result 😉😉
I love your tutorials. I especially love the tutorial on the bargello table runner. Do you have instructions on how to use this same pattern to make a quilt for twin and queen beds.
WOW! You just took away my fear of tackling my first bargello quilt (table runner)! I've watched several RU-vid videos on bargello quilting and yours is by far the best. Heading to my sewing room now to select some batiks to make my first bargello project! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Donna! You're an awesome teacher. ☺ PS: Due to a brain disorder I developed 10 years ago, I hadn't quilted for several years. Part of the medical issues include amnesia after a seizure. I never know what part of my past I've lost until something triggers that there is a related past - like setting down to try to make a quilt for my son. Much to my horror I couldn't even remember how to thread my amazing high-end machine let alone how to put the blocks together. (Fortunately I found one of my 12" blocks I pieced more than 10 years ago and it has 52 pieces in it. That block is now my reminder that I learned it once, so I can do it again. Even if I can never make that block again, I'll have so much fun making others. ☺ ) So I'm having fun learning to quilt again and have almost finished my son's quilt for Christmas. YEA!!! It's just made of 8" squares but he'll love it since I made it for him. After seeing this video, I've set a goal for myself to watch one of your videos and learn new techniques with each quilt I make from now on. It'll be like Christmas all year every time I watch another one of your wonderful videos! God bless you for sharing your many talents, Donna. You make a difference in people's lives in more ways than you probably knew. ☺☺☺
I have so many bargello quilts after watching your tutorial!!! I have made so many have lost count. Lots of baby quilts using the technique. Thank you so much!!! I have ordered a log cabin quilt kit and am looking forward to making it.
I have watched about a dozen videos on Bargello quilts and this is hands down the best! Easy clear instructions. If I had seen this one first I wouldn’t have watched any others. Thanks 🙏
Oh my stars! I think I could actually do this!! This is fabulous! I've watched a bzillion bargello videos at this point and somehow yours clicked in my brain. Thank you so much! I'm gonna do it! It's 1:43 a.m. and I am headed for my stash! Coffee up and let's sew!!!
¡GRACIAS POR PRESENTAR TAN BIEN ESTE PROYECTO QUE YO TANTO QUERIA APRENDER! NUNCA PUDE APRENDER INGLES Y LO LAMENTO MUCHO, PERO AUNQUE NO ENTENDÍA LO QUE ELLA DECÍA, CON VER COMO TRABAJABA LAS TIRAS, SE ME ABRIO LA CABEZA. UN TUTORIAL CLARO, PRECISO, MARAVILLOSO. ¡GRACIAS!
There is no other person online or utube that does a better nob at explaining than you. You are amazing and I hope you keep on teaching. I so appreciate you. Thank you
I seen this pattern at a craft fair and I was blown away. As a new quilter I my eye is not trained to see the simplicity of the pattern, I am just amazed at this 😀 thank you.
Love this table runner and also that you can do this to make a full size quilt. I have wanted to learn to do a Bargello for years and did not have the "guts" to tackle this but you make it so easy. I downloaded the pattern and can't wait to get started. Thanks so much. Janet
I’m working on this runner right this very minute! I’ve gone through step by step and just sewed the first of the three sections together. It looks great. I have lost track of how many times I had to watch the video but thank goodness you did such a great job! The only trouble I had was where and how to place the 3 inch pieces at the end and in between the sections. I kept it in the “tube” until just now watching and rewatching the very end. It was a little hard to figure out which seam to rip out. But I finally figured it out. I am a very visual learner. Thank you so much for making this video! I think I’ve viewed it probably 50 times over this process!
I have on my table jelly rolls to do this as a knee quilt for my mu for Christmas, can't wait to get started. Your tutorials are the best on You Tube. I have watched many different ones but keep coming back to you for all your tutorials. Thank you from the UK.
Donna this quilt block is awsome! I wan't to make a bargello but the thought of how long it would be and how to cut each piece was daunting, but making individual blocks like you've done I can't wait to start mine. Thank you for your Awsomeness!!! LOL
IIjust found this site on the Internet and I love this tutorial . I am going to make a bed runner to brush up on my skills then I am going to make a quilt.
Was watching someone else on another video do a quilt like this, and seeing that she doesn't know how to properly use a cutter, I couldn't watch. This and the way you teach all how to quilt is very refreshing, easy to follow, and I love what all you make
Thank you Donna, love this tutorial.you explain everything so clearly, cant wait to have a go at making a runner.I have made your placemat's and they turned out fantastic, and your instructions are always easy to follow.
Donna, I found your tutorials for Jordan Fabrics by accident.....you are absolutely amazing. It's awesome that I can watch your videos.I would love to visit your shop someday, although I think that's probably not going to happen,as I live in Michigan....but you never know, maybe someday....although I do plan on placing an order VERY SOON. You and your husband Matt do a great job!
Donna, you never know ! My DH and I are retired, and I am really bugging him to take me to Missouri Star Quilt Company in Hamilton Missouri. Maybe he will agree to take me to Houston TX to see Jordan Fabrics too....that would be absolutely AWESOME. Is there ever a chance that you might come as far as Michigan ? I know that Ann Arbor has a BIG ART FAIR in July every year!! Anyway....I love your videos Donna....you do such a great job. The Bargello Quilt placemat video and runner that you did was just fabulous. I never thought I wanted to try that, but now....well, you have me interested in Bargello Quilting. I am thrilled about all the things you sell..... Have a great WEEK !
I have started a hard bargello quilt and I have finished a quilt that was made like your place mat. But i can't wait to do this table runner in a quilt. This is the best tutorial i have seen and I have seen a lot. You are in my favorites !!!!
Thank-you so very much for giving us all the directions and measurements to make this lovely bargello. I really appreciate your clear and precise instructions and sewing. Lovely choice of fabrics like usual. You really have a gift for choosing wonderful fabrics!
OMG! That is totally Genius! I have always wanted to try making 1 of these but every other tutorial I have watched has just confused me.Can't wait to try this!
Hi Angela, I love watching your quilting and all the different patterns you make. You make it look so easy every time. I'm quite new to quilting and have to say that I'm a little afraid to attempt it on my little projects in case I make a mistake! I'd love to be the person who wins the quilt you have just done. Looking forward to your next video.... Janet
I'm so thankful I found your site. I am very meticulous with my quilting and I don't enjoy watching a sloppy quilter. I really don't mean to offend anyone
