Hi Robbie I just subbed you we walked right by your narrowboat at the weekend u were moored up at Beeston marina just passed the big lock (naughty lass) right keep up the great vids mate much respect to you 👊
Hey, Robbielad! ANOTHER lovely video. I'm always struck with how beautiful England is, and really enjoy your commentary when you're visiting places of interest - including the pubs! It looks like such fun. Also, was glad to see you got your sewage tank sorted out. You know, I'm hoping we might meet face to face someday. You're definitely an interesting fellow! Thanks for sharing your continuing voyages. All the best, John
Great pubs. That pie looked tasty. I used to get the train from London to Newark when I worked in Mansfield and I often had a look around when I was waiting for my lift or the train back. It’s a lovely place steeped in history. Thanks for another great video.
glad youre back Robbie, andlove the musical accompaniments as well miss them when you not vlogging. The gentleman with you is an old school fella so all credit as well to him,not many left with his skills.Keep making these videos in the same style with pub of the week who doesnt like a pint lol atb Mike
Good stuff as usual Robbie! We overnighted at Hazelford lock, in exactly the same place you did, all the little pathways up on the island were quite interesting. What I did find was when I took the dog out last thing at night, after a few falling down waters, those steps up from the mooring were a little dodgy! Made it, but a little wobbly!!😁🤪🤪
Great vlog Robbie, you are a natural. You should be on a travel program with Judith Chalmers, she's 83 now think of the fun you and her would have with peanut butter!!!!!!
Didn't realise Newark was so interesting! Excellent vlog! Will have to watch it more than once to take it all in! Amazing bars to visit! Hard to chose which is POTW! Flying circus or just beer mmm pirates bar. Cosy quiet place! Games! No can't choose!
Hi Robbie, good to hear from you. Now I can't be sure, but that violin school used to be a knitting factory? or summat. Anyway in November 1980, the owner was selling the 'illegal' CB radios, and I bought one from there......the first 'social media'. More on the Trent journey on your next one.
Hey Robbie it's great to see you back. I was impressed with the Rich Tea biscuit/Peanut Butter sandwich. So it's not just Narrowboat Chef who comes up with innovative additions to the menu of international cuisine!
Nice video of Newark Robbie. Told you it was nice. You passed quite close to my home when you went through Fiskerton. I'd have popped down to see you had I know you were there.
Nice one Robbie. You are heading to the city where I work. Moor on the river just upstream of Trent bridge near the council offices to explore this great place. Look forward to seeing your 'puuuubbb of the weeeek' cus there's plenty to choose from!
It's so weird but I've been to a whole bunch of these places you've travelled through in the last few years - Boston, Newark, Lincoln, but then I remember well I'm probably here watching your channel cause I also enjoy travelling the UK and seeing the lesser known parts 🤔 if only the canals stretched the whole length of the country!
Excellent vlog Robbie and some great pubs, have to say The Clay Tavern has to be pub of the week certainly has my type off sense of humour... have fun mate, not that don't anyway, all the best pal..
fantastic as usual my vote for the pubs are in no particular order organ grinder and the last one run by your friends you cannot beat proper Ale ALL HAIL TO THE ALE
Loving this. Such a calm and relaxing chatting and editing style (and I'm guessing you record your own music? Fair play if you do). I've been subbed (on my other channel) for a long time and always look forward to a new Robbie vlog. I've written Newark down on my Official List Of Places To Visit ;).
Hi Robbie, great channel I like the content is down to earth and not overhauled. Got a question, if you was buying another boat what would you have different compared to your boat now?.. Cheers Jim.
@@RobbieCumming Thanks for that Robbie, I take space and rust is important when buying a boat. Don't see many grp narrowboats on canal, guess if they get knocked about they would sink and wouldn't cope well with the ice?..
stopping at Trent bridge, Try the Embankment the Trent Navigation, Wilford ferry, Larwood and Voce , Southbank (Not as nice as Newark pubs to be fair) TBI is classic but Witherspoons. Wander down into West Bridgford for eats, Fashionable bars a bit posh but nice.
I'm sure you didn't near have enough beer on that trip, that many pubs and still sober? But I suppose you have to crank it responsibly. The rest is on the editing floor for sure. I was young once.Love your vlogs.
Had a boat moored in nottm back in the 80s had many a drunken weekend travelling from nottm. down to Newark did carry a lot of home brew so kept topped up during journeys between pubs
Robbie Cumming Sue and I have been at the hospital lots. Dad’s been poorly and in and out of hospital since July last year. His latest stay in hospital has been 3 months and counting bless him. It’s good to see you having fun x
@@RobbieCumming well, to be fair my good friend, it's the only one I've been in. I usually overnight there if I've delivered to Essex that day and it was recommended to me by another driver. Quirky joint! I can certainly recommend the Castlegate Fish Bar for their kebab meat quality (not mega portions tho!) and then wander back towards the bridge end of the street to Bodrum Kebab House where they do a rather decent he made chilli sauce (50p/tub) which does finish off a good kebab nicely lol Small things to suss out but they make a good difference when away from home. Newark is a stunning place, the Castle Gardens are a nice little place to soak up that history, I believe there is also a City History Walk or Historic City Walk worthy of doing. The architecture is wonderful, and that coffee house you highlighted......not a bad place for a Zizzi pizza! Another wonderful vlog!! 👍
Oh my a dancing penis.... I don't know what to say! Don't you hate those big ocean boats. Those thing will swamp your boat in a heartbeat. I can't stand those big boats. Looked like you two where having fun. Keep cruising on, Chris from Missouri
Which one would be your Pub of the Week?! 1) Castle Barge 2) Just Beer 3) Flying Circus 4) Prince Rupert 5) Organ Grinder 6) Fox and Crown 7) The Clay Tavern
They all looked pretty good to me and happy to have a couple of pints in each of them. The Flying Circus appeals to me the most and the Prince Rupert ..... isn’t that a euphemism for something?😉
Robbie - I am surprised you were able to steer in a straight line by the end, this was a total booze cruise! I recall you mentioning, when you were contemplating the Wash, that your boat was quite low powered. You appeared to be cruising against the flow okay on this trip. Are there any tidal or river scenarios where a lower powered boat would not cope? Mike
Fighting against the tide would be difficult on the river for most narrowboats but especially mine if there are waves about, as the Naughty Lass is air cooled so there are air intakes close to the water level. I’ll explain properly one day!
@@RobbieCumming Robbie, what is the power output of the Naughty Lass, I think you said it was in the low 20s horse power or something like that. Is the NL a 45 ft boat?
Robbie! Lovely vlog. I thought some great camera work and editing! Loved all the pubs, even through i don't drink. They all seemed to fit the public house just right. Glad to see you looking better hope it's the same on the inside as well. Well good day, and even though i don't know you personally, i feel like i can say mate. So good day mate
thanks for the history on newark castle ,, in all the reading , king john this king john that , lost the royal scepter and family royal jewels in that costal bog - wait where was that ? never been found you say , hmmm ,, oh i did not remmber reading about where and how he passed on,, after all that food and more food did the job ,, lesson learned , hmm beer must be ok -- right ?
@@RobbieCumming the best Beer Coaster Quiz -- true or false , Alfred Einstein was Related to Albert einstein ? Yes its true they were 7th cousins , thought they did not know , Alfred E. is a Baroque music authority and wrote the definitive cataloge of Mozarts works , Albert E did play violin and after learning a Mozart sonata ,fell in love with music and played for private audiences and friends O and wrote E=MC2 , writing down an idea can have consequences
Good god man, put in some effort to put some mufflers on that motor... it must drive you mad, and deaf ... my tugboat is like a whisper compared to that banging racket
I know 2 adults splitting a beer with lunch are not going to become dangerously 'impaired' boaters, but whats the laws over there say about tilting a pint while operating a boat? A lot of US places gone so far as to have 'open container' laws for cars- _"You are not drunk, you are not Drinking, but you have the booze available to maybe Drink & Drive in the future so we arrest you now"_
RWBimbie You’d have to google that one - the coppers here normally wait until the perp is drunk and disorderly before they do anything and even then it’s mostly just a slap on the wrist. Probably why we have such a ridiculous binge drinking culture
