Gwyn Newman's old corner shop at 1:10. First place I ever saw a color tele, behind the counter for tbe benefit of his numerous Bargod grammar customers. But he was a commonwealth games weightlifter. I remember him taking three of us to a weightlifting class in Abertysswg about 1970.
All very well and good remembering the past and paying tribute to miners, but look what has replaced that hard, proud working environment: tattoo shops, nail bars, beauty parlours, hairdressers who can't use scissors, cafes, gambling premises, empty buildings, decay, decline, disorder. Bargoed has sadly lost its way.
