I still believe that Barista FIRE is the best way to achieve financial independence for most of us. Barista FI is a form of financial independence where you don't actually stop working, and therefore, you do not actually "retire" in the traditional sense of the word. Instead, you can pursue employment recreationally, meaning for fun! You can work when and where you want to work. Barista FI is quickly becoming more and more rebranded as "Financial Independence, Recreational Employment." Whether you want to just work part-time, work in a lower-paying field, try out a new field, start your own business, work seasonally, or anything else, you should strongly consider making Barista FI one of your primary goals.

I work as a restaurant expeditor. I work 4-6 hours a night. 22-28 hours a week. I make $29 an hour plus some tips in wisconsin. I combined that with cash flow from a 4 family rental property and had a pretty good life. I just sold the place a couple weeks ago and now life is even easier.

Great video! For the last 7 years I was pursuing a FAT FIRE lifestyle but this year I changed to a Barista FIRE. Happy I did because I was getting burned out.

I really like how you highlighted the idea of the retirement work being meaningful. I retired from full-time teaching, and will be teaching part-time at a smaller, private school. I’m hoping that’s a great fit for me! 🤞

How awesome that you get to try!? Maybe it will work for you, maybe not. Then you can move onto the next idea and see if it fits.

Barista FIRE is the way to go for sure. It seems like most younger retirees end up there anyway due to boredom and the pursuit of purpose in life. Personally, I think a great way to go is to have a robust and organically growing income stream via real estate and the stock market. Over time, let your income naturally grow to a point where you are Fat FIRE. Due to the above strategy, we are luxuriously Barista FIRE now, will be Fat FIRE by age 45 and Obese FIRE when SS kicks in at 62!

@OnCashFlow 10 месяцев назад
Yes, it certainly does seem that way. The main point being that it is unrealistic to never earn another dollar again...even though FIRE planning often revolves around that. If you start young enough, so many years go by until your 60 that if you were barista FI, your investments would likely cost their way to enormous heights but that also brings up the topic of not spending enough if you let your assets grow to such measures.

Hey from France, i was looking for fire and just realize that I am actually in barista fire but didn't know the word, that the best one I think, I work 3 times week in a part time job that i actualy like and my wife quit her pharma job and work for her in the cosmetic eye brow and lash and we enjoy life , and we still able to invest in order to get highest passive income year after years, you can still invest in barista fire that's fire ✌️

As a person who has worked in a nursing home for the last 8 years, IMO people really only get old when they think they have nothing meaningful to contribute anymore. Barista FIRE is the way to go because it is more doing what you WANT to do, not what you MUST do

I also have two rental properties and agree that even having a property manager there are always questions/discussion to be had dealing with property issues almost weekly. Great informational video my friend. I love watching and learning from your content!

I see why the end goal for some RE investors is to get consolidated. Imagine the amount of questions once we have 10 properties...

I can't imagine retiring at an early age and living out the next 40+ years doing absolutely nothing (and expecting that money I've saved up to keep me going for that long) so Barista FIRE sounds like a great idea! Honestly what I'm looking for in FIRE is just financial independence through a big enough savings. I just don't want to have to worry about working full-time to keep myself afloat.

I think that this certainly is what most people want, even if at first they need to retire completely and take a short break away from all work. (sorta what you would call a "sabbatical". But eventually, being human, we want something to do with our time that is productive/contributes to our community or society on some level.

I plan to consider this an option and ease into retirement in 10-15 years and take advantage of employer healthcare.
@OnCashFlow

That's a huge part of compensation that most people don't realize how much value is in some employer healthcare plans!

Full time is still full time, even if you are working 3-4 days per week but 12 hour shifts! That would give you little time for youself on those work days.

@@OnCashFlow yep one week 5 shifts but then the other week only 2. It's better than my last job and I'm very close to coast fire and or barrista fire. Sometimes you need to be bankable for loans.
