How are open throat and appoggio connected?
What supports what?
In fact above mentioned things cannot exist without each other if a singer tries to produce
a chiaro scuro tone.
If you reached an open throat in vocalises it doesn't mean yet that you can have it right away with Arias or songs.
Why?
Incorrect articulation(non appoggio type) with consonants easily changes the shape of the throat and therefore creates placements.
One should learn articulation while keeping an open throat
that is an appoggio articulation.

No matter what voice we think we are, as we develop, our real voice will come out. I know a young lyric bass-baritone who was told to sing leggiero tenor at college, but they discovered their real voice when they met a real lyric tenor, who told them to sing baritone and not tenor. This changed their life and after a year with this teacher, they could go over to sing more heavy repertoire like Verdi and Wagner. Singing tenor made their voice weak and not developing anything. Chiaro scuro is essencial for any singer, no matter what voice type. If they don't have a chiaro, their scuro will sound bad and vice versa. His voice sounds so great now ☺️

As always maestro - excellent teaching for baritone. Sadly as I age the voice has moved from tenor to baritone and I've lost the top end. So this will be vaulable to work on. Thanks.

Dear Mr Tenelli , as i understand from your other videos appoggio is a support technique . why we cant use it when we switch the registers if we keep the sound consistency ?

He sounds like a light baritone voice to me maestro. So he could have been a high dramatic baritone or a Verdi baritone. Yet he started a high tenor? I started as a high range baritone and transitioned to a mid range tenor who is trying to work on appoggio. I would sing this exercise in the upper octave from high A to Db when I have mastered the tessitura from mid C to Ab.

Maestro Tenelli, how do i schedule a lesson with you?? i want to discover how to use my voice. and i keep failing. A little information about me, you see.. i was born with a cleft pallate, and i dont know if having that may cause problems in finding the "pocket" when trying to get into the mixed area with appoggio. You know more than me, so if you can give me some insight. i would definitely love that.

When you said he was singing Tenor before he got to you.....Was he straining his voice by singing in an uncomfortable range?

I'm a high baritone, but in warm ups I can reach the high G, A, and sometimes B. can I train to become a tenor? how?

Haleem Sharback be very careful. If you arent a tenor and try to do it you can destroy your voice. Im speaking from experience. Focus on singing the notes that are EASY for you with more resonance instead of stretching your range. If you are truly truly a tenor it will happen naturally without u trying.

Do and improve what you are. It will be you. And no tenor can imitate your voice. Be your self and everyone will want the voice that you have. Otherwise tenor will nail the nail first. Be yourself and be first who run the circle first.
