Videos like this are super helpful. I do remember seeing Super Dave mention keeping stuff out of the engine but when you started talking about the saw laying over in the dust, that really makes a lot of sense. I was cutting the other day and my saw took a tumble into some screenings that were underneath all the trees that the excavator had pushed. I can just imagine getting a big ole scoop of that into the exhaust. Both the Egan and the WCS stuff looks nice, dogs included.
There both useful products depending on your means and what type of cutting and things your doing to me ones a lil tamer the bark box and one is all out which both are right in the correct environment
I dont run spark arrestors to keep stuff from getting OUT of my engine, i run them to keep stuff from getting IN. Cleaned too many mud daubers out of exhausts to make that mistake. My saws with pipes welded to the can get dirt bike wash plugs in them when not in use.
Great comparison 👍👍. You would think for the sake of $6 that the deflector would be standard rather than optional right out the door? But I'm not a businessman so I'll leave those decisions to those folks...

I have an old MS 390 I want to put a straight shot on it but I can’t find one on the website do you know if 391 is compatible with the 390 thank you for your time happy holidays
@@MitchellsBackyardLogging I have a buddy that seems to think it’s the same saw just the upgraded version. I don’t understand why I can’t find a straight shot for it. I live in Northern California at the time I bought it 12 years ago. It was a very popular saw for tree falling
@carlhaggard3792 id say its hard to find one due to the fact alot of people consider it a semi pro saw for nothing against saw but i dont see alot of loggers or tree work guys using them west coast saw may make a bark box for it
@@MitchellsBackyardLogging yeah I get it I mean I love the saw it’s a great saw, It’s just hard to get parts, for I probably should’ve went with what I knew at the time instead of listening to the sales pitch lol
391 is definitely a homeowner saw... "prosumer" if you will... for future reference on all of the newer stuff, if the middle number is even (like 261,462,661) its a pro saw, if its odd (like 271,311 etc) its a prosumer/homeowner saw... they are functionally okay saws, but they arent built to the same level as the pro saws, nor will they have the same longevity
Thats what i use the first set of solder sticks i had was harder to melt these arent terrible but i think there smaller in diameter im not a pro at but i get by a guy that buys chain from me is a refrigerant guy like fore ac units and what not give me some pointers that help me out
