Hi folks, I'm sharing two more medium sized knives, the Bark River Bravo 1.25 and the Bark River Bravo Light. Both are premium knives. The Bravo 1.25 was part of a small production run and fits in between the regular Bravo 1 and the Bravo 1.5. The specs are listed below. Enjoy.
Bark River Bravo 1.25 -- Ironwood with Red Liners and Custom Firesteel
Overall Length: 10.2 inches or 25.9 cm
Blade Length: 5 inches or 12.7 cm
Blade Steel: CPM 3V @ 59 HRC
Blade Thickness: .217 inch or 5.5 mm
Weight: 9 ounces or 255 grams
The Bravo 1.25 is an over-built premium knife, which seems to hit the sweet spot for some folks. It is bigger than the regular Bravo-1, but smaller than the Bravo 1.5.
Bark River Little Creek -- Ironwood with Red Liners in a regular squared off Bushcraft F Sheath
Overall Length: 5.7 inches or 14.4 cm
Blade Length: 2.65 inches or 6.7 cm
Blade Steel: CPM 3V @ 58 HRC
Blade Thickness: .150 inch or 3.8 mm
Weight: 2.2 ounces or 62.3 grams
This little companion knife excels at food prep, cleaning small game, caping, deboning, notching, and finer carving tasks.
Bark River Bravo 1 Light -- Ironwood Burl with Custom Firesteel
Overall Length: 9 inches or 22.8 cm
Blade Length: 4.2 inches or 10.6 cm
Blade Steel: CPM 3V @ 59 HRC
Blade Thickness: .156 inch or 3.9 mm
Weight: 6.6 ounces or 187 grams
Bark River Little Creek -- Ironwood Burl in a Mikro Canadian Sheath (this companion knife originally came in a Bushcraft F Sheath)
Overall Length: 5.7 inches or 14.4 cm
Blade Length: 2.65 inches or 6.7 cm
Blade Steel: CPM 3V @ 58 HRC
Blade Thickness: .150 inch or 3.8 mm
Weight: 2.2 ounces or 62.3 grams
This little companion knife excels at food prep, cleaning small game, caping, deboning, notching, and finer carving tasks.
Note: The small banana shaped sheath is called a Bark River Extra Small Pouch sheath. It will accommodate the PSK, Little Creek, Mikro Canadian or Bravo Micro. It measures 5 inches overall length. The inside depth is 4.5 inches. It cost $11.95 at DLT Trading.

Both very beautiful knives. I had not given Bark River knives a thought until I first began watching the videos of virtuovice from Japan. In one of his presentations he states that Bark River are so beautiful he is no longer interested in any other hunting knife. He calls them jewels. Looking at the scales on this Bark River Bravo 1.25 and the Bravo Light they are breath taking. It won't be long before I order my first knives from Bark River. I have to see them for myself.

I am one of the other 35 who got a Bravo 1.25 and I love it. It is a total "Goldilocks" scenario with me since I always thought my Bravo 1 was just a little too short and the Bravo 1.5 was just a little too long...this 1.25 is perfect for me as a camping knife. I especially like the way the 1.25 wears on my belt compared to the 1.5, for my height it is better. I agree with your assessment on the 1.25 being a little too big for EDC around town, but a great outdoors knife! I also have a Bravo 1 LT and I think it WOULD make a great EDC, especially for folks who use a knife throughout the day as part of their job. I loved my Bark River Gunny knife but always thought the Gunny was a little too short for me. I always wished Bark River would make a Gunny Plus, and in my opinion, the Bravo 1 LT is like a Gunny Plus to me. The blade is virtually the same thickness as a Gunny but the blade length and width are just slightly bigger and the handle is slightly bigger. GREAT video! Thanks!

Awesome, I hope you get many years of reliable/dependable use from your 1.25. I was wondering was yours stamped with the first production run markings on the blade? All the best.
@timgaulden9543
@timgaulden9543 10 лет назад
TheAmericanOutfitter No, I expected to see the FIRST RUN stamp but mine doesn't have it either. My theory is the run of 35 was a special order by Dale at The Knife Connection, and an experiment on Bark Rivers part to see if they would sell. I am wondering now if this new delivery coming out (April 2014) will have the First Run marking on the blade or if it just another special order. Ha, I guess instead of theorizing, I should just email Dale Stoops and ask him. That is my theory for now anyways. If this was a knife I thought I might sell later then it would have been a big disappointment, because I would assume that first run stamp carries some value to a collector....but I love this knife and don't expect to ever sell it.

The Bravo 1.25 and Bravo 1.5 only have about 3/4 inch difference right?

Yea, I have the bravo 1 ( rampless ) and the mini fox river both in ironwood burl. My mini is in A 2, while my bravo is cpm 3v the mini does have a few small pits, but it doesn't bother me either!

How much did those setups cost, I really want something similar.... Did the sheath come with the multi knive setup and where did you get the custom firesteel?
@TheAmericanOutfitter
@TheAmericanOutfitter 10 лет назад
I do not represent any of the vendors but I purchased my set-ups from the following distributors: DLTTrading.com, TheKnifeConnection.com, Knivesshipfree.com or Chystalfallstradingcompany.com. I purchased my items piecemeal and it took some time to match all of the components. I have not seen the brown right handed Mikro Canadian Sheath in over a year so you may need to settle for the regular squared off Bushcraft F Sheath. The mounting hardware can be obtained from almost anywhere. See my write-up within my EDC fixed blade segment. Brace yourself, these are professional grade knives. They are not cheap, but will last a lifetime. Bark River Custom Firesteels: $44 - $70 US Dollars (note: you can get a Swedish firesteel at a fraction of the cost and it will work just as good). Bark River Bravo 1.5: $248 - $315 (this knife came with a sheath and firesteel loop) Bark River Bravo Light: $225 - $300 (this knife came with a sheath and firesteel loop) Bark River Little Creek: $128 - $200 (this knife came with a Bushcraft F Sheath)

I have been using one for a year now, but not a big fan of the A2 Steel. Dulls quickly and rusts way too easy. The design isn't too bad, but a tad big on the thickness. I have been using the Benchmade bushcraft in S30V and has held up much better. I haven't had to sharpen it once in a year, while I have to re-sharpen the A2 Bravo monthly. The sheath is crazy bulky.
@TheAmericanOutfitter
@TheAmericanOutfitter 6 лет назад
Yes, A2 is a rust magnet and will not hold an edge like 3V. If you are in a damp or humid climate, S30, S35VN, VG10, 3G or Elmax may be better options.

Ronald Cox I believe the F sheath that the Little Creek comes with will mount onto the A sheath of the Bushcrafter, but call the vendor to confirm. That would be a sweet pair of knives for sure. Enjoy

Are the handles on the lite and original the exact same thickness? Also does the lite work well for batoning or is it too thin? Great video thanks!
@TheAmericanOutfitter
@TheAmericanOutfitter 7 лет назад
Yes, the handles are the same size, and CPM3V at a thickness of .156 is still sufficient enough for batoning through wood. The LT version is also better at food prep and slicing. Respectfully

Great video! Just curious, which of the Bark River knives that you have do you think is the most versatile size and do you have a particular blade steel that you prefer? I noticed you have a few Bark Rivers that are S35V and CPM3V.
@TheAmericanOutfitter
@TheAmericanOutfitter 10 лет назад
Hi Krbutube, for me, the most versatile blade length is about 4 inches or so. I can do almost everything with a premium 4 inch fixed blade. Ideally on trips where weight is not an issue, I like to carry a 3 inch blade and 6 or 7 inch blade with a folding Silky saw. This tends to be a power combination. I prefer a convex grind on most of my knives with a few exceptions of course. Now, let's talk about steel. The super steels of today require more time to sharpen. They require more time because of their hardness and metallurgical composition. Yes, A1, O1, 1095 and D2, sharpen more quickly but they do not hold an edge as long as some of the high-end super steels. Having said that most knife people are not really bothered with the task of sharpening their knives. Many find it to be pleasurable or therapeutic. In the carbon steels, I like CPM3V and CPM4V because they are tough and hold an exceptional edge. For stainless, I like 3G, S35VN, S30V, VG10, CPM154 and Elmax. The stainless steels of today are far superior to those of 20 years ago and certainly have an application, especially in wet and damp environments. I know some folks don't like stainless, but I have no issues and use them often. They hold a pretty good darn edge and are relatively maintenance free with the exception of normal sharpening. At the end of the day, I believe most people want the most reliable tool they can afford and a knife is about as critical of tool as it gets. I never venture into the mountains without a cutting instrument. Thanks.

@91classicrock

which bravo model do you think would be the best survival/combat knife?
@TheAmericanOutfitter
@TheAmericanOutfitter 7 лет назад
Hi, any of the knives in the Bravo line qualify as survival knives, however, when I think of an actual combat knife, I think more of a fighting knife. In that regard, the Chris Reeve Pacific is what comes to mind. Respectfully

Hi! Is there a tip on LT knife, too delicate?
@TheAmericanOutfitter
@TheAmericanOutfitter 7 лет назад
No, it is proportional to the .156 stock and adequate. One of the nicest and most useful points can be found on the full stock .170 thick Aurora in CPM3V. That knife has an exceptional point even superior to Adventure Sworn. Respectfully
