Bark River Knives: The EDC Bravo - EDC Excellence

The Bark River EDC Bravo is the smaller brother of Bark River's best selling Bravo 1. It sports the same style handle that has been scaled down to be proportional with the size of the knife. The overall size, weight, and profile of this blade are a perfect combination for a heavy use Every Day Carry fixed blade, in my opinion. In this video we go over some of my common everyday tasks.

Excellent video sir, Looks like a wonderful knife, and great in depth review. Since it is about a year old, how do you like this pair still, you really bragged on the American Denali, so curious if you are still loving it and since you obviously get your hands on a lot of knives, is the Denali still one of your favorites. Thanks again and have a blessed week.

I rarely see convex edge knives reviewed by "bushcrafter" channels (people in the Gauntlet for example). Maybe it's because not many companies make convex edge blades. They are excellent at batonning, featherstick making, etc., and the edge is the strongest grind for edge retention and hard use. Thanks for showing this. Bark River also has top notch leather sheath's.
@feralwoodcraft

+csh 62 Simple. It's a bias based on accepting what "experts" say on blind faith. Hey I've been there. All I wanted to use was scandi for a long long time because that is what all the experts on the internet said. Then I got my hands on a BR Aurora a couple years ago. At first I didn't like it. Then I gave it a fair and unbiased try. Mind Blown. If all goes as planned, the Bravo 1 will be shown off next week. Time for some Bark River Bushcraft :) You are correct, their sheaths are rockin!! Thanks!

Another great video brother. Awesome way to show the versatility and capability of this knife as an EDC. With the size of it, I would consider using it as a bushcraft necker. I currently use a Jeff White Sloyd Knife for that. But this Bark River might be it's replacement. Thanks for making me think about spending another $200 on a sweet knife.
@feralwoodcraft
@feralwoodcraft 8 лет назад
+papaschuette It would definitely shine in that department. I fully plan on getting a second sheath so I am not locked into carrying it on that Denali. Oh, and what are friends for? We are to encourage each other in our knife addic....er...collections.

Hey Joe! Looks like a great knife. Which one do you prefer between this and the Adventurer? Take care, iRène.
@feralwoodcraft
@feralwoodcraft 8 лет назад
+Melusine Centun (Melusine101) I wondered who was going to ask that. For a smaller EDC the Adventurer's handle is more comfortable in my opinion but the added size of the EDC Bravo brings a lot to the table as well. It really all depends on what I plan to do with it. For normal everyday life, I'd probably pick the adventurer. For in the woods, the EDC Bravo. But that said, if I HAVE to pick just one, it'd be the EDC Bravo. I hope that's not too confusing.
@melusinecentun5847
@melusinecentun5847 8 лет назад
Feral Woodcraft It's perfectly clear! By the way, I was very surprised when you said the edge holding as between O1 and A2 - Elmax is a very hard steel, it should hold a much better edge than A2, if it does not, it means there is something wrong with the heat treat.
@MnPfan

Hey Joe, I'm a little torn between this and an Adventurer 2. How would you compare them?
@feralwoodcraft
@feralwoodcraft 7 лет назад
I haven't used the 2 so I can't really offer an opinion based on any experience, sorry. For me personally, now that there is a #3 coming out, I'd go with the 1 or the 3 but that is just me (and I haven't used the 3 either so take that with a grain of salt.) Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

Can't stand when people leave food outside then have an issue when an animal gets into it, what do you think would happen? Just put the food inside.

So in your state, what is the blade length limit for a fixed blade knife that you can carry on your waist? Does that include state parks? Why we as citizens continue to allow any say in this matter at all is beyond me. Here in CA, the state laws aren't too bad; it's the local laws that get a little lame.
@feralwoodcraft
@feralwoodcraft 8 лет назад
+Budding Survivalist Yeah, a lot of it is the local laws here too. The main problem is that many of the laws are written so subjectivily that it's up to how the LEO wants to interpret them. In the state of NC it is technically legal to carry openly anything but a sword. However, once you get into local laws and bring in the "frightening the public" charges that cops like to slap people with, one has to be really careful. Anyway, the legality I mention is the pocketing the knife where 3.5 is the limit. I agree with your comments 100%. The answer to your question is simple (at least in my opinion). You and I are now the minority. We have very little power to affect change anymore, unfortunately.
@jasonhoyt8232
@jasonhoyt8232 8 лет назад
Yes, those "rubber" laws are ludicrous. In a lot of places, a LEO can simply take your completely legal knife if it looks "scary" or they "feel" in danger by the way it looks. Yes, you can get it back at the station, but what a hassle.. Thank God I have yet to be the victim of such nonsense. But many have. That's why I don't carry my "Lansky World Legal" knife when I go into the city. Because even though it is definitely legal in virtually any city around the country and world, it "looks" scary. So I end up just switching it out for my Sun Fish style knife which "looks" like an old man knife.

Thanks for another great video! I don't know what it is really, but I just can't bring myself to buy a BR knife. I've got a couple of GSOs for users, & I've got full customs with Elmax, CPM S90V, etc. & fancy pants scales for my collector knives...and there's something about all of the negative whispers out there about BR, & then the fact that they seem to produce roughly 999,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 knives per day at Bark River....mind you, that's an estimate on my part based on what I see available out there in the magical knife kingdom....something, or maybe several things, turn me off when it comes to BR knives. And now that I'm 40, it's much easier to turn me off than on. Well, let's see; I've covered other knives I like better than yours, my sexual impotency...ya, I think I've covered all of the main points I was shooting for today - really though, I'm a big, albeit, new fan. I've got a stressful, demanding job, & I find that when I watch a video or two of yours before I drive home after work, I yell at my kids less & compliment my wife more, so we all thank you!
@feralwoodcraft
@feralwoodcraft 8 лет назад
+scott sherman First off Scott, thank you for the kind words and sharing that. I am glad I could inadvertently help out. Secondly. I know exactly what you're saying about the rumbles and rumors about BR and I don't know why they are there. All I can say is if you get a chance to try one out, I really suggest it. I own 8 of their work and quality and construction are solid. They do put out a lot of blades though don't they? lol Thanks again and 3 points for the days most humor filled comment lol
