After Mitchell Johnson tries to deflate England spirits, the Barmy Army step into song about the German bombers -Taken at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia Jan 2014.
@@marcelbehnke9818 Am not disputing other nation’s contributions in helping win the war, but don’t forget Russia’s involvement stemmed purely from being attacked by the Japanese. A lot of Russians lost their lives, but the country’s efforts were focused solely on the Japanese fronts. Likewise, the US involvement followed the attack on Pearl Harbour. So, while you’re right in that it was a multi-national effort to win the war, if it wasn’t for Britain holding its ground for 2 years, completely alone, and without any allied support, the world would be a very different place. We stood our ground, whilst shooting down German bombers in the process (and a few more than 10 👍) - The Battle of Britain was, and always will be, a key pivotal event in preventing the complete collapse of Western Europe.
So proud of our history, the dumps say this song is offensive. I’ve known loads of Germans that support this song they like it because they and their family wasn’t in favour of the Nazi regime.
I love this song but can you keep it to when you play Germany. Australia was on your side during WW2 and WW1 and many other conflicts. If my memory serves me right the man they call the Defender of London Sir Keith Park was from New Zealand. Many pilots in the British RAF came from Wigram Air base in New Zealand, as well as Australians, Canadians and Poles. There is even a statue dedicated to Sir Keith Park in London..So it should really go "And the RAF with Sir Keith Park from New Zealand shot them down" .Lol:)
@Sadie Smiles Plus the RAF are not from New Zealand they are from England , to get another country into that ditty you would have to sing "The New Zealander who joined the RAF from England shot them down" to many words.
