A rare Aston Martin that may have been used as an unmarked police car in the sixties has been found after half a century hidden in a garage. The DB24, built in 1955, was discovered at a property in Gloucestershire and is believed to be worth £250,000 when fully restored. The classic car, which became famous as the model driven by James Bond in Ian Fleming’s novels, was bought by a car enthusiast who intended to work on the engine when he retired. Instead it was covered by a sheet and forgotten by its owner, and was forgotten.

I knew an old boy that had an Aston Martin of that vintage stashed in his garage, he always described it as a DB2/3, his hobby was modifying engines and he had some other rare and interesting cars and bikes.

acid dipping is a dangerous proposition because there are pockets in the chassis and body where the acid doesn't readily drain and once the acid strips the gunk (old paint, primer, plastic filler,sealants etc.) then the gunk forms a little protective barrier between the residual acid and the neutralizer....but it's probably ok for a simpler structure like most older cars have

it looks like crap. bumpers are corroded and the body and interior look ratty as in rat infested feces everywhere. Now do you want to sit in that and inhale the sweet smell of rat urine?

Thought there'd be more on the blue aston, start her up drive her, blink her head lights, show owners manual, but I guess I'd be secretive too, that's like finding a blue sapphires in a hog wallow. Enjoy her she's a treasure! Please don't rod her. She's a thorough bread.careful on those corners!

Acid dip if it was a real restoration company they would stay well clear of that proses in the long run for the cars life is not good original and rare cars do not need acid dipping there is other methods like soda blasting or the near last resort sand blasting the last resort is using the acid which you cannot 100% cleaned off so what remains still eating the body work away 10 years later it's a pile of rust again / classic sign of Facebook mechanic again quick not lasting option !! Not the hard work and long lasting one ??
