Well i hope Claire ran you a nice hot bath and pampered you for alll the work you did Elton . . Its only fair . . Isnt it ?? . A great vid team ,well done Elton . A bit of work involved there . . Till the next one take care . Bye from NZ🍻👋🇳🇿twa
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. We genuinely have no idea and Elton can’t wait to strim round it, the curiosity is killing him 😂 - Claire
I doubt there's much more than the shape being held in place by the weeds if it's an Estelle, hell they were barely made of anything but rust from the factory 🤣
Add Gardening to your skill set!!! What an amassing Job and very interesting watching what turns up. Thank for sharing this with us all. All the best Bob
Love that 😁 can't wait for you to dig the Skoda Estelle out. I learnt to drive in one of those, was the only car my dad ever bought brand new, he was so proud of it. Was a tough old tank. A car ran into the back of him in it at lights and wrote off the other drivers car, there's a thick crash bar behind the rear panel on that, it was only slightly bent. It ploughed on for years that thing. Loved it. Very comfortable
We are beyond delighted and so very grateful we were given permission to film so that we could share the experience 👍 Thank you so much for watching - Claire
Thanks for sharing. It's hard to believe that you keep finding more cars under all that brambles. Maybe give us a final count after they have all been dragged out and taken to the auction house. Cheers
@@UKBarnFindsBack to it now chick 🐣 unfortunately, my holiday is now a memory! take care lovely lady, I hope you have a splendid birthday on Sunday, sending Yorkshire hugs to you ❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰 hope Elton spoils you rotten xxx take care lovely lady 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Glad your channel is growing, guys... you make a good team. Elton is very lucky to have a wife with such enthusiasm... my missus would probably hit me with a shovel if I asked her to help me move a car more than 1 metre🤭... keep it up !
Thanks Mat, yes I agree the Scirocco does look nice, we have so many projects on at the mo, if we didn’t I’m sure Elton would be making noises to keep it! Thank you so much for watching and commenting 🙏 - Claire
Think it is so funny when you are laughing Claire when Elton is struggling with something 😂I bet sometimes you have to cut bits out and edit 😂😂😂, have a great weekend lovely people
Hi Kevin, yes I do have to edit a few bits but I quite enjoy leaving in the banter and the giggles, after all that’s what we are like off camera 😂😂 Thank you so much for watching and commenting - Claire
Elton what a great job clearing that space. Claire great camera work. If you have a second large 4wd get yourself a pully block that allows you to change directions. The second vehicle becomes an anchor point. Even a decent tree or post can be enough for the redirection. Anyway awesome video. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you. I’ll be watching some videos on how to use a pulley/snatch block effectively. Every day has been a school day on this job. What I have found, since filming this part, is that a very short winch length is better for tight spaces when using just the Land Rover alone. A lot of manoeuvring, but the car being towed does go where I want it then. A long winch length allows it to go of course too easily. All good fun though. Thanks again, both for watching and the advice. I really appreciate it. ~ Elton
Hi Elton and Claire, great work, Only time will tell what else may be hiding in the undergrowth in the field of dreams. Keep up the amazing work. Love the channel ❤️
Thank you William, I actually feel very self conscious about recording voice overs and being in front of the camera so feedback like this is a lovely boost for my confidence. Thank you so much 😊- Claire
Hello again Guy's, Thanks for the hard work and update. You certainly are bringing back memories for me. Pity there's no fields like this one near me. Looking forward to the next update. Cheers Guy's.
They are still going although legal now 😂 you can listen online, I often do. I am hoping to go for a tour of the boat (Ross Revenge) soon I can’t wait! Thank you so much for watching - Claire
Another fantastic video, thank you! My mum used to have a Fiat 126, an early "M" reg in olive green. I used to get taken to school in it......and I can still hear that air cooled twin to this day! :)
They are such cool little cars. May be a while before this one gets heard again, but the good news is that it rolled out with all four wheels turning and someone may save it now. Once it’s on the Anglia Car Auctions website, we’ve done our bit 😃
I think the mystery car is another Volkswagen of some kind. What an incredible treasure trove of cars, even in the condition they are in. The Suzuki Swift is excellent, not often talked about on RU-vid. They were incredibly popular in Australia, being sold as the Suzuki Swift and also re-badged as a Holden Barina, excellent little cars. The Swift GTi was a little pocket rocket. Top marks again to you two for bringing us this video. Elton did very well and I'm sure the discomfort was made up for by the fun of wrangling of power tools 😄 👍
Hello, brilliant work and videoing you're both doing here, I couldn't see how many doors the car hidden has, but it is either a Skoda Estelle or Rapide, I'd think probably an Estelle. Looking forward to your next video, also I met you both towards the end of Rustival, it was a pleasure to meet you!
Elton reminds me of myself ..he already has not just each job but ALL jobs complete a certain way inside his head. Unfortunately missions don't always work out the way we envisioned. However it's the results that count 😎👍(✝️)
@@UKBarnFinds Hi Claire, I'm not too bad thanks. Although yesterday my Rover battery died so I was £70 out of pocket and then this morning Google paid me £70 which was just weird lol. I have been tinkering on TeeCee still and hoping to get the new film out as soon as I can.
@@UKBarnFinds I actually worked on caroline as an elec engineer back in the 90s on the Ross jusst before she lost her anchor and ended up on the sand bank. You will enjoy the tour Claire and PS i love your channel John xx
Honestly, that's almost got to feel a little like unwrapping presents at Christmas, although if it took a strimmer, hedge trimmers, a big pair of shears and a reciprocating saw to get into the average present, I don't think Christmas would be quite so popular! How that Moggy van stayed together (well, mostly) for 10 feet, let alone the 100 or more that it was pulled, I have no idea! The moths were definitely holding hands real tight to make sure their shelter didn't just disintegrate spectacularly into a huge puff of ferrous oxide dust and a few panels.... That Scirocco's bodywork looks absolutely brilliant from what I could see of it. Maybe we should ask Elton to lift them up so we can see the underside too......if it's not too much trouble! Anything for RU-vid, eh?😂😂 How that little Suzuki Swift hadn't rotted badly is beyond me, although the Fiat 126 seems to showcase what I thought they'd all look like after sitting in the hedge for 20+ years. Glad it's not the case for all of them. The Swift, like the Scirocco, looks like it could have been parked there yesterday. I'll wager that the one in the bush is an early (maybe mid-) 80s Subaru.....if I've picked the wheels correctly.....although the doors don't look as rotten....er.....as curved as I would expect. I'd love to see one of THEM preserved by the brambles because I understand there aren't so many left over there. Whatever it is looks to be from the 80s with those door mouldings and of Japanese lineage with the wheels anyway....time will tell, eh? All the best - and thanks for your tireless efforts and braving the weather to bring us this footage, Claire. You camera people are the unsung heroes of this type of video and my hat is off to you. Bringing Elton along for comic relief was a stroke of genius too! (Seriously - sorry Elton!! You're doing a much better job and with way more stamina than I could muster to clear that lot out, mate! Your dedication to the cause is certainly appreciated from my armchair - and no, there's no way I could do the job any better without hiring someone to do it for me......and as for moving stuff about - at least you've got the Landy and a winch. Imagine me trying to pull things out of there with a Triumph Stag or a Mazda 3 saloon and a tow-rope!)
Hello both what a great job EXTRACTING those cars from the undergrowth!! Liked the bit where you put your safety helmet on, and got a free shower - very funny!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire
In the early 70's I knew a field like this in Hampshire but in those days it was all 50's cars. Sadly it was cleared to make way for a housing estate. As a student I had no space or money to do a restoration, but I could have had a Triumph Roadster 1800 complete with dickey seat for 150 GBP.
Those Triumph Roadsters are lovely. I had the fortune to film a really well-preserved barn find one last year. Absolutely loved it. If we’d had time to get it sorted, we’d have bid on it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Gfzu_Y6D0uk.html
Some good ones there. so easy to go to rot when cost of repairs and keeping on road exceeds the left over income (and time) that you have. I have lost so many cars, but if the present day classic and MOT concessions were about in the past I might have been able to hang on and actually fix a couple of them (Triumph 1300 - rot. Viva- Engine, Commer Van- Engine, Simca1501 engine(would have made an Ideal electric conversion)
I think the brambles have actually "preserved" some of these vehicles. Claire ,you have to realize, us men have very little patience. When we see something new, we just cant wait to find out, what it is (especially vehicles) so we go all tough and "bull in a china shop" ..If we cut ourselves or lose an arm or leg, well so be it...........GRRR!! MACHO Men 😄💪💪
I felt so sorry for the Moggie van. I drove one of these for the North Western Electricity Board back in 1970. My first car was a Morris 1000 traveler so seeing the wheels splayed was a bit saddening. although I did see a few moggies broken down with th esame problem including a police panda car. The lower part of the trunnion can seize and thats what you get.
I know Mick me too 🥲 although thank goodness it wasn’t scrapped. At least this way ‘part or parts’ of it will live on 👍 thank you so much for watching - Claire
We will be taking a closer look at them at some point. Sadly time and the ‘great British weather’ were against us. Can’t wait to get down there and share some more hedge reveals! Thank you so much for watching and commenting 🙏 - Claire
It is in very good condition for an 80s swift I would have expected it to be as bad as the moggie I bought myself one of those hedge trimmers last Christmas they are really good 👍
The 126 is, as it seems, a liquid-cooled one (bigger air inlet on the left side) Great! In the last years of their production they got a radiator. Pollution regulation forced (Polski) Fiat to do so
Elton is the only RU-vidr I have seen use a safety blanket on a winch cable .Last year a young woman here lost her life when a winch cable oin 4x4 parted and struck her in the chest killing her. If any of those who think the steel cable on their gear won't break ,they cdould be in for a surprise. ( I broke one once 40 years ago ,trying to pull a road grader out of mud . with a 25,000 Lb winch)
That’s awful. Poor woman. I’ve always used a winch mat, or anything to hand that will potentially take the sting out it if it breaks free. After filming this, I watched a few youtube clips of people testing them and now use a heavy canvas army mat on top of the cable. Scared the living daylights out of me, seeing how fiercely they can fly back at you. I always make sure, also, that myself and anyone helping is positioned in a safe place. There are bound to be times when we’re not, as people move around, but I’d like to think this rule applies 99% of the time. Claire would confirm this; she was given a brief before she filmed about placement, not to step over the cable, etc. Can’t be too careful. That winch you were using must have been a beast 😳
Back around 1970, two Fowler ploughing engines were dredging Earlswood lake, Surrey, and I was told that the cable kept parting. Fortunately, those doing the dredging knew what they were at and there were no casualties. I've also seen a cable that parted when a ship was under tow in the London docks and that did cause a fatality. Both cables were somewhat bigger than a 4x4 one.
Love the Scirocco GTi! Looks in pretty good condition. Could I spy another VW Tarantula Alloy on the mystery cream car?? Could be attached to a Golf? Who own these cars? Will they be up for auction any time soon?
Anyone would think that Elton was getting old with all the huffing and puffing going on! Anyway good progress I think. The Morris is sadly a basket case but there will be some good parts on it. I am not sure about the other car we got a peak at but it could be another Saab from looking at the wheels? I am looking forward to seeing the Austin A40 Farina, that car is more 'up my street' my Dad has owned one in the past. Is it a Countryman for example? It would be nice to know. Great video Claire and Elton. 👍👍
Hi Stephen, I can’t wait to unveil the A40 either, we are planning to do some more filming soon although it will be weather dependent! Thank you so much for watching and commenting- Claire
What treasure drove i had a suzuki swift in that model very good on petrol on a long journey devon to wales 52 mile to the gallon and i think the bodywork is aluminium it dont rust there is a few more cars to be found there
Oh I wish I was in the UK right now. Granted we still do not know the condition of the engine or the underside. But that Sirocco looks a great find. What is ironic is after I brought my sirocco I got a VW mechanic mate to look it over. Other than a few minor issues, he found that the previous owner had damaged one of the alloys. On the surface it looked good, but when he took it off he found it was cracked on the internal faces and the previous owner had just put an inner tube in. The alloy was the same style as the ones on your three wheeled sirocco. Then I met a beautiful young lady who I had a relationship with for a while. Guess what she owned. An identical Fiat 126, minus the spot lights. As we lived a distance apart we had to meet half way a couple of times, (plus it was a great pub we would meet at). But when it got dark, I would have to drive in front of her all the way to her parents house. Because her headlights were about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. So seeing the two cars parked up like that brought back fond memories.
Wow what a coincidence and what a fabulous story. I mentioned previously in the comments that had we not already got too many projects on the go we would love that Scirocco 😃 Thank you so much for watching and commenting 🙏 - Claire
@@UKBarnFinds It all gone belly up for me here in NZ, so I am coming home, but it could take another month or so. It would be great to know what the condition is underneath and the engine and a rough cost too get the sirocco back on the road. I would love another one as I am coming home on my own and don't have to worry about family anymore.
