There are so many repair and replacement parts available for a Model A, this will be a comparatively easy restoration, especially with your combination of skills. You scored big time Jonathan.
I remember riding in the rumble seat of a 1931 Model A. I had a friend of mine who was the president of the Model A Ford club in San Jose, California when i was in my 20's Im 69 now so it was along time ago. Glad you saved it.
Don't let them miss you Jonathan. Be strong and stay off the nicotine. I'm in my mid 70'S now and lost my father to that horrible addiction when I was 38, my mother when I was 46 and my oldest brother lived in a wheel chair on oxygen before he passed. I miss my father and mother every day, so much lost. Don't allow that dreaded drug make your loved ones miss you. It will be life long sorrow for them.
Congrats on the find and recovery Jonathan. Looking forward to the other find. Merry Christmas and all the best for you and your family. Thanks for sharing
Two months I am proud of you. I had tobacco addiction for 42 years and it starts to get better after two months keep strong. And I really enjoy your channel I have been a mechanic for 38 years and like what you do by making them run and roadworthy and not complete customs. Keep up the good work.
Very nice find and plenty to work with. Funny how when you find yourself unprepared and yet find what you need to accomplish the job. Thanks for sharing.
HEY!!! GREAT TO HEAR YOU'RE NOT SMOKING!!! I,,,uh,, have asked about a Jobathan update, figured I, uh, upset ya...THANKS for your update!!!!! You help to make this a better world!!! I'm sure your Mrs wants you around a bit longer!!!!!! WOW!!! Glad nobody got hurt when that rope let go!!!! Yeah, that roadster looks to be in decent shape, considering the barn was a tad thin in the skin. GREAT JOB LOADING IT!!!! OH, uh, you'll have that engine running, noooo, doubt about that!!!!!
I sure love watching these old car rescues! I can't wait to see what you will do with this one, lots of great potential here. This is the best medicine to help you beat that craving for those cancer sticks. Looks like you will be even more busy than you already are. Thanks for sharing these awesome videos! Oh, I forgot to mention, my mother and father had one of these cars this year and drove it to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon.
GREAT! Glad to hear your still not smoking! You can deal with anything mechanical, just remember your body is a machine, so you can deal with it and its craving as well!
Nice going with quitting smoking! It really can be a helluva struggle, letting go. For me, when I quit, the toughest part that I remember was all the hacking & coughing just after I quit. These days, I find it much easier to avoid the temptation, especially if I'm not around other people who happen to be smokers. Just don't look back. It sounds to me from one of the Franklin vids, like your wife is very supportive of you NOT smoking. You're a very lucky man, Jonathan.
Don't ever give in to the urge to smoke no matter what, Jonathan. It will get easier every day but it will never go away completely. Maybe your Doc can recommend something to get you through the tough times. I quit for 6 months and gave into it, finally. I'm going to tackle it again soon but i know more of what to expect now.
I know how tough it can be to remain free from smoking. The hardest thing for me was when I sat down to think something through, the first thing I did was reach for my pipe and tobacco pouch. Also, just right after a meal or after you just finished making something that took you a while to make was the perfect time to light up and set back and enjoy your handy work. You are going to have to find something else to reward yourself with during these times. Whether that's a piece of fruit, a piece of hard candy or something else, find what you like and start
Great recovery boys. Right on the limit, thought you might have had to tie your belts in the rope too, ha, ha. Looking forward to seeing the second car; wonder what it is....
a good amount of Model A's don't have the original block in them . the other spot where the vin is located is driver side frame rail on the top just below the cowl . Nice find !
I'm so glad on your not smoking any more and your doing really well. But I'm happy you're got 2 new cars now. But let me ask you something let us know when you might start on the t A
Awesome find thanks for saving another one. Is this the same barn where you did the first start and drove the car out? Great job not smoking your doctors would be proud
Just a friendly reminder, if you need to put a rope under that much tension again, drape something over it, maybe in a couple places. Looks like there were plenty of scraps of tarp etc laying around. Hang some of these over the rope - best is on each end of rope about 5 feet from where youre changing over to chain/cable etc, and one or two toward the middle. That way no matter where the rope breaks it will keep the rope from whipping back.
That's a hell of a nice find there, If I had the money I'd offer to buy it from you. Congratulations on staying off the cigarettes. Quitting was one of the hardest things I did but it was worth it. I stopped counting but I think it's six or seven years since I quit and I promise it will get easier! I still like the smell of an unlit cigarette but the smell of a lit one or an ashtray are horrid now.
Surprised If u were worried about the rope breaking that u didnt dig away the soil or at least try helping by pushing it or putting a 2×4under it as leverage
Thats awesome Jonathan!! I guess there is more top notch entertainment coming up!!! What a cool car!! Cant wait to see the next one!! Great job in the rollback Noah!!!!!!!
Back in the 60's & 70's My Dad and I Completely Restored one of these 1931 Model "A"'s and a 1931 Model "A" Pickup's every Bolt and Nut was redone. They was Beautiful when finished. Jonathan on the front radiator of the Roadster is a Club Medallion.....what Club is on it??
I have a 1930 Cabriolet but have always liked the roadster better. Mine is stock and probably a 20 year old restoration. Not perfect but solid and mechanically sound. Just how I like it.
I love this car. Of course, this is the car that everyone wants... Even though this model A is far prettier and more desirable, I think I'd go for the model T. Simply, because it's a little different and restored, it's a lot more unique. Good Luck. I wish you success, in business and with quitting, it takes a lot of will power to over come...
About 43 years ago while out night hunting we happened across a guy that had two chicken housed stuffed full of A-Model and T-Model cars and parts not too far from your base location. He said bring your lights, I want to show you my cars. Wow. I have never seen anything like before or since. They are long gone and I don’t know when they were sold. There must have been about fifty or more.
Two minutes go to to hours then days and now months. Your still not in the clear til your mind is and that is the auto reflex to reach for one then remember that you quit. I have been there. I made it three months and then while I was standing around some guys that smoke I made the reach and then said ah I quit. An just like that some one offered me one and I took it joking around just holding it and some one seen it wasn't lit and offered me a light and I was smoking again. I thought what the heck, I can do it again, just quit but I just seem to crave them worse than ever.I guess I am a coward cause right when this was going on, my brother had quit same time and he never did smoke again but he got sick so he went to the doctor and they told him he had a spot on his lung. I stayed with him but a month after they found that, they found tumor in his brain! I think he just quit trying or something. He turned seventy in march and then all this happened and april seventh, he went into a coma and died. It hurt me bad cause he was the last of my family except for my kids who live many states away. I live in alaska and so I had started and I just ain't gonna quit. I am glad for you as your young but I am seventy two and no one who really care about me much cause I git crippled fourteen years ago and can't walk or feel my right side. I can't play my guitars or walk and I have to wash my dishes one handed.... I just don't care like I used too Great find on the rigs. That rope broke very strangely, square off like a ax hit it or something sharp. Good thing that you didn't have a anchorage on it!
