This is part 1 of my Raleigh Barn Find restoration. In this part I strip the bike and paint it. Support my channel www.saveoldbik... Follow me on Instagram / _2ndlifebikes
The problems you had at disassembly was laughable but made me aware of the bike I just purchased. A 1982 atala, now seized seat posts are my nightmare, even though I heard previous owner offer to lower seat for me to test ride. Work stand comes on Monday so I guess we will see
You should paint with a little more of distance to the frame, and give more fast shoots with the spray bottle, you do that so close and it generate drops. have a nice day.
Hey Jesús thanks for the comment! I used AKA line writers paint for this build that’s reasonably low pressure compared to a lot of spray paint and the nozzle has a very small narrow fire. In a lot of cases I would agree with you but with this paint if I was any further away I’d miss! Haha and I had no drips in this paint. Thanks for watching!!
Great idea for the paint job. Couple of comments; the Raleigh logo can be cut in permanent vinyl and stuck to the fame before the final clear coat. I have done this several times and it looks much crisper than the painted efforts especially if there are fine lines. Painting big blocky logos is ok with removable vinyl but sometimes the paint bleeds under the edge of the vinyl if the paint goes on thick which spray.bike paint tends to as you have to spray from only 4 to 8cm away. Try a 2k epoxy clear coat e.g. Spraymax, it dries way harder than spray.bike and will seal in your vinyl logos. I sometimes add custom printed vinyl decals that I make using an inkjet printer and the cricut using print and cut; the two part epoxy clear coat seals those in as well so they don’t run. Finally, it really is best to spend the time taking the entire frame down to bare metal as it ensures any and all rust is gone before priming. For my last build I have switched to a 2k epoxy primer as well, dries rock hard - again Spraymax. Having said all that I love the artwork - and the splatter.
