Barn Raising / Corn Shoveling

Acres of Clay Homestead

Our new project barn is coming along nicely as we start putting the walls up.
The hurricane has brought rain all the way up to Michigan!
The grain bin is starting to get low, so it's time to jump inside and start shoveling the corn to the center.
Thanks for watching!

Cute calf, my bulls have done that in the past, mostly they don't recognize a person or something they have or are wearing is strange to them. I know you're aware of that, but others watching may not, doesn't mean he's ready to charge it's a scared warning tactic. Like what Kevin is doing with the barn remodeling, wish I could do that, oh well. Thanks for sharing, I hope you all have a great week.

That mother cow seemed to know that you meant no harm to her calf. . . . I once was at my uncle's farm and we had a cow that seemed to feel that that we were going to harm her calf. . . . she charged the truck. The pickup truck bounced over about a foot. My cousin and I were in the box. My uncle had a good laugh when he saw that our eyes were as big as saucers. We did not enjoy the experience as much !

@@acresofclayhomestead we got a little rain this morning but not much. the reason why i asked if seth works at laying fiber optic cable is because there was just a 20 year old kid that was working for a company that lays it and he went to unhook the trailer that had a big roll on it and when he did the hitch came shooting up and hit him in the face. have they ever had that happen before?

Great video again..I have noticed that You feed Your cows a heavy protein diet of feed. Is this to make the butterfat content of the milk higher? it seems to me years ago that is what the farmers got paid for was the butterfat content of their milk, something like that. Not sure if that is how it is now days, I was just wondering on that because noticed that all the feed You feed Your milk cows is high in protein content..thanks again for nice video and have a great day up Your way..I live in western part of the USA and grew up in north western Wyo. worked for farmers in the summer putting hay up and other things..that was 60 plus years ago so Your videos are fun to watch because take Me back to years ago...the going pay rate for a long 10 hour day back then was $8,00 a day and the best noon meal a person could ever eat...

Ronda, you sound good. I'd like to say 2 things: 1). There is a jack called a wall jack. It makes lifting walls a cinch. I used them 50 years ago when I was building houses. I could lift a 55 foot long wall using 2 wall jacks. They capture the top plate with the cable and the bottom of the jack is anchored, so when the wall gets all the way to the end that you set, it stays right there and you don't need to hurry and get it nailed down. Only the bottom of the wall can move, but you place a 2X4 on the outside to keep the bottom from sliding. And if you wanted to be frugal, you could make a couple out of extension ladders. Just bolt them at the right length. OK? Please let Kevin know there is a safe way to erect a wall. and 2). Farming is rated more risky than Police or Fire Fighters. So please keep that in mind when you and your family are working SAFELY. Beautiful seeing everyone including Abby. She's been missed. Thank you for taking the time to video edit and post. It's always nice to see what's going on at "The Farm." ben/ michigan PS I got 4" of rain.
