Great review. No excuse for cold peas. They should always be piping hot. I have run fish and chips shops and the batter is the way to judge the fish. Yorkshire Fisheries is absolutely perfect. This place thr batter was flat which is OK but with a bit more care they could achieve the spiky whispy batter. The chip portion was shocking. Every customer should get the same amount. Other than that it looked a friendly competent chippy. Keep the reviews coming Stephen.
Yes. Hot food should be hot. Fish and Chips are a ridiculous price! We live on an island surrounded by a sea of 'white fish' and god knows how many acres of potatoes. Thanks Stephen. 👍
Stephen you made me smile, it was so funny the way you fitted those large pieces of fish into your mouth 😁😁😁Chris peas are supposed to be served hot 😀😀👍👍
Great video in Barnacles I had fish, chips and mushy peas there in the summer sitting outside in the sunshine, only live 30 minutes away. Mushy peas must be hot!
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as always that fish and chips looked yummy I love yorkshire fisheries though amazing I like my mushy peas hot aww Chris is lovely have a great evening xx
Great Video Steve, Landudno does look a lovely place has I said before on your other Video, you're fish & Chips look so tasty, hope you enjoy the show your off to see, all the best Dave..... Birmingham
Glad you both liked Barnacles, My mushy peas have always been served hot there. Perhaps a mistake when you visited ? Interesting to hear the history of batter Chris. If you go back in Summer they serve very nice ice cream Sundaes.
It's nice to watch a live stream of Wales I've never been seems a nice place I hope you found the chippy and had something nice to eat I love a good chippy tea or dinner my favourite is sausage and peas and chips with ketchup up good video it's making me hungry I look forward to the next video just seen your fish and peas looks yummy I have that sometimes for a change
Stephen you were really favoured in that chippy...:) they probably thought you need fattening up haha..bless yer..thanks for the info chris actually I would have complained for the amount of chips you got and for having cold peas.. enjoyed the video as always and hope to see you again chris on another of Stephens videos..:)
Hi Stephen, great video as always, i do that all the time, always vinegar first then salt, and what your mate Chris said about the batter and pies back then, I never knew that interesting fact
Absolutely you have to have HOT mushy peas. As for the chip portion size? I don't mind fewer chips as long as that is what I've asked for (which I usually do) otherwise cut back on price for sure
Peas should be served hot, if cool or cold ask them to reheat them at Barnacles, they don't mind. I have been there a few times and have always been pleased.
Very good video. I have never had a bad fish chips and mushy peas in Blackpool and the mushy peas have always been hot. Don't think I could eat them cold.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool there used to be underground toilets there and the road into the town was on the other side, creating an island. Hence the name.
Hot mushy peas are best chris. Glad u both enjpyed ur meal. It looked lovely. Wr have aitkisons here in morecambe and its really good. Expensive though. Hope ur well stephen. Another great video. Hope ur well 😊👍👍
Dinner looks lovely, chips a good colour , batter looks nice, I cant stand a cool dinner, Ive been known to microwave my dinner half way through eating it, I need it roasting hot.
I have noticed over the last year that the pies and pasties I buy have been served generally only slightly warm so maybe there is a particular reason for it. Maybe that is why your mushy peas were not as warm as hoped and expected.
Looked okay but prefer Tribells. Batter looked a little undercooked and mushy peas should never be served cold. I've travelled to Llandudno from Lancashire to enjoy fish and chips and a sunset....it's a must do on anyone's bucket list 🤣👍
its on my list of seaside places to go to .a small point the letter u in wales is pronounced as a Y i only know this as i have lived in wales 16 yrs so far so have got a bit of the lingo
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool i was correcting dougle douglas about the fl to cl 😃. You say it absolutely fine, most non locals drop the first L n pronounce it as an L
Mushy pies should be hot your mushy peas looked like they were a bit dry in a lump not runny like I like them think I've been in barnacles last time I was inllandudno was bank holiday Monday last year the May on at the end of May and me and my granddaughter went into a cafe on the other end of the street and I had a Sunday lunch that was really nice and my veg granddaughter just had cheese toasties she said she wasn't really hungry and that was enough for her I love Llandudno hope you enjoyed Llandudno love fran xx
"Diddled at The Barnacle," Chris really made me laugh, especially when he said you have a mouth like a snake 😂😂 You both seemed to enjoy the fish and chips, it took you a bit longer to finish yours Stephen, 🤔 oh yes, probably because you had more chips than Chris and you didn't give him any of yours 😉 xx
Must think you need fattening up Stephen, giving you more chips than Chris, looks good though, mushy peas should definitely be hot, love these chippy videos, price really good value,we have fish n chips delivered every Thursday, 2 portions with 2 large curry sauce and its £19-50 (£2 delivery charge) but they are superb
I’ll have to try that place I’m going there soon , no fish for me tho , isn’t Chris a fountain of knowledge what I’d like to know is how many steps that waitress does in a day 👍
Chris definitely a natural in front of the camera. His portion was definitely on the small side compared to yours Stephen. They both looked good however, I wouldn’t have been happy with cold mushy peas, a big no no.
salt first !!! then gently sprinkle the vinegar gently for an even spread of salt but thats just me 👍 i cant stand seafood so i usually have chips and 2 lots of peas instead and the peas will stay warmer longer if they put them on the plate i hate them in a pot
No, the mushy peas shouldnt be cold. We go to pebbles instead, fish size good, batter lovely definitely a bigger fish than you got on your video pebbles gets my vote for the best fish and chips in llandudno it used to be the restaurant up the orme but we went back after lockdown and it was a disappointment the batter was nowhere near as good it was overcooked, it used to be a 10 out of ten but on that visit it was more like a four so pebbles gets our vote
Mushy Peas should not even be on the plate as they take up space that could be used for more chips, this is why i never have them on my fish and chips.
When your in Llandudno again try the best fish and chips in town I've tried them all and they don't come close by far to Chish and fips on Victoria Street off North Shore at the back of the Theatre F A B U L O U S
