My Great Grandfather John George Parkinson was born in Bridgegate, Barnard Castle. His Father, George Parkinson was born at Balder Mill, just outside Cotherstone in 1846. The Parkinson/Bowron Family lived and worked at Desmesnes Mill and Deepdale Mill, at Startforth. George Parkinson married Annie Ashmore and they lived in Baliol Street. John George Parkinson married Libbey Walker, from Winston and they also lived in Baliol Street, where my Grandmother and her brothers and sisters were born.
