Discovered this channel during the research rabbit hole I’ve plunged into for the Criterion Collection. I never bought one before but for some reason I had now gotten a sudden urge to do so (as I’m a lover of film as I am of physical media, but also, who does it better than Criterion?!). The high quality of your content is apparent and I thank you for putting the strong passion you have on display for us all to see :)) keep it up!
I blind bought Amores Perros last year at the sale but still haven't gotten to it yet. Dr Strangelove is great, it might be my favorite Kubrick. The perfect mix of humor and angry satire that never becomes too on the nose. The packaging is great too.
Great video, haha like how you intermixed some regular blus.....can't wait for the inevitable day when we get that deluxe Small Soldiers release from Criterion....most likely a thick digi pack with an included booklet of the script.
Hey Bill! Enjoy your dive into Arrow, they're a terrific label - Cinema Paradiso is absolutely gorgeous and it looks even better in 4K; I hope you get the chance to experience it that way too, incredible film.
Dr. Strangelove and Vertigo, for me. Does the photo that accompanies the postponement of the criterion announcements mean anything? I keep hoping for Inland Empire but I have never seen it so I don’t know if it is from that?
The photo is actually a still from Lost Highway, another Lynch film Criterion’s planning to release on 4K. It looks like they’ll be prioritizing that before Inland Empire. I was informed from sources that Inland Empire sadly won’t be released until 2023.
Recommend checking out Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Watched it after Style is Substance's most recent video (a RU-vidr I recommend checking out) and absolutely fell in love with it. Would make a good double feature with Todd Haynes's Velvet Goldmine which is rumored to be joining the Collection sometime soon
