KORN puts 10000% into their performance.

From what I've seen of John, he seems like a really genuine, down to earth guy, and as a person who greatly admires his artistry, it's nice to see him be able to talk about Korn in these terms. I'm not much of a Korn fan myself, but you have to respect that they do something truly unique, they have been doing it well for a long, long time, and you can't deny that they work their asses off to provide for their fans.

Yes they do, I just saw them live in 2022 and Helmet and Evanescence opened for them...needless to say KoRn absolutely blew both of those bands away and I'm not just saying that because I'm a huge KoRn fan.

I didn't hear anything about missing out. They're still clearly not his kind of thing, but he's showing respect nonetheless. These are comments about their appeal to audiences over time. Hardly a lament. Highly doubtful the dude managed to never hear anything from Korn since 1994 and then suddenly discovers their *music* at a festival he happened to be working.

@@twr412 Right. It's all good to not like a band, but to not show a band respect when they clearly deserve that respect is pretty lame and foolish. What KoRn and producer Ross Robinson started back in 1993 is still a huge influence in the rock/metal world. Just look at Sick New World and all these other rock/metal festivals, bands like KoRn, Deftones, SlipKnot, and Coal Chamber are still huge these days and still the main attraction at most of those festivals. Everyone I know who talks sh!t about KoRn likes a band that they inspired, one of the many nu metal bands they inspired, and sadly I don't even think those people understand that KoRn pioneered that genre.
@LeadMe2TheBliss
@LeadMe2TheBliss Год назад
@@palestalemale8831 KoRn toured with bands like Sick Of It All, Biohazard, and Life Of Agony so I would say they fit in pretty well with the hardcore scene.

@@LeadMe2TheBliss dude I was in the HC punk scene back then. Believe me, Korn did *NOT* fit in that scene. Its ok to not fit in. Just like those HC punk bands didnt fit in with Korns scene back then, which was Nu/mall metal.

IMO, I think all the initial Korn hate came from them being put in the "Nu Metal" genre along with the likes of Limp Bizkit. But, again IMO, they were so much more, and had their own unique sound.

There's always been people (elitists) that shits on KoRn but the undebatable fact remains, they were pioneers of a genre and sound that resonated through each of us that grew during that time...I was 9 when the first record came out...and I think it was when I heard balltongue it blew my freaking mind...still to this Day at 38 years old I am a loyal Korn fan
@LeadMe2TheBliss

Way more people love them than hate on them though. They may be a somewhat polarizing band but SO many more people love them than hate on them. Most of the haters actually like them more than they want you to believe too.
@LeadMe2TheBliss
@LeadMe2TheBliss Год назад
We have similar stories, I am 39 and still a loyal fan too. In fact, I saw them last summer a few months after Download 2022 and Helmet and Evanescence opened up for them! I loved it, Helmet and Evanescence were good, but there was definitely a certain vibe in the air and you could just tell that the whole crowd was basically just waiting for KoRn to hit the stage. I remember vividly, moments before KoRn were about to hit the stage all the lights in the amphitheater shut off and the crowd absolutely f*cking lost it! I have seen some big bands too, Black Sabbath two different times, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, O.G Pantera, Slayer, and other big bands but I can't recall ever hearing a crowd erupt like that before. That crowd evidently knew exactly what they were in for and the boys in KoRn certainly delivered a stunning set, even without original bassist, Reginald Arvizu.
@unholy_raccoon

There may be people who just don't like their music. As simple as that, no elitism involved. Not saying about myself. There are certain periods in their music that I like and certain periods I don't really care for. Nothing that I really hate though.
@GuardianKnightoftheRealm
@GuardianKnightoftheRealm Год назад
I agree with everything you said and stand by the sentiment except for one thing...just because you can't stand Korn doesn't make you an elitist. In fact, the very idea that only elitists don't like Korn is itself a form of elitism.

Him saying it was mostly 20 year olds was the most polarizing thing to me cause these are just zoomers who were far too young or weren't even born yet when Korn was at their peak, and he said this was last year so its kinda boggling they can still find an audience a decade or two after their debut

Yeah, but you also need to understand that KoRn are still releasing new albums, some of the best albums throughout their whole career, especially The Nothing and The Serenity Of Suffering. KoRn are still VERY MUCH ushering in new fans with absolutely every album they release. So, the fact that there are a lot of young kids at their shows still is to be expected, and this is coming from someone who has been buying their merch and CD's since Life Is Peachy. I just saw them live in 2022 with Helmet and Evanescence and KoRn absolutely blew those bands away, no competition at all!!

Nu metal as a whole has been making a big comeback as of late, and it's not too surprising, considering that people who were teenagers when these bands were at their peak are now in their 30s and 40s and have kids of their own. It's not a surprise that younger people are discovering this music, either through their parents or through other sources. Hell, I was at a Baroness show last month and there were some teenagers in the audience.
