You can find Barrett’s other (imo even more impressive) performance from this show here: • Barrett Wilbert Weed s... The Green Room 42, November 26, 2018
Barrett is like my all time QUEEN. But the vocal fry and her sort of loss of belt technique frightened me a little. She has such a genuinely beautiful and full, amazing belt voice and this just sounded like it hurt??? Some parts were absolutely stunning. But, I feel like this could have been better supported????? Idk just a learning MT major analyzing technique! Ignore me if you need!
Sophia Rizzo Barrett has an amazing voice but she has never had great technique. She could benefit from some coaching or the poor girl is gonna end up destroying her voice
i've always wanted to play veronica in a revival version but it seems so scary and risky bc (i love barrett i swear but example) of what happened to barrett.. i'd be ok if it was only for a couple performances tho
Now that Waitress is closing, I’ve been binging videos and covers. Barrett would have made such an amazing Jenna. Barrett’s voice is stunning!!! She has so much talent and makes it seem so effortless!!! Barrett is a true queen! RIP Waitress.
Zandra Jones of course!!! We singers gotta help each other out. I sang this song for an audition and I got in!!! Unfortunately I had to change my song because it was “too sad” but it’s fine because I sang On My Own from Les Miserables which was a great song too!!!
@@jenn4368 YOU'RE JOKING! Last year I performed On My Own! Although, I hardcore messed up the second verse. But that's crazy! On another note, I was practicing this song today and I destroyed my throat lol.
Zandra Jones OMG REALLY!!!??? That’s amazing!!! Also trust me before going up I was SO scared bc at all the dress rehearsals we did, I kept forgetting the 3rd verse bc it’s so similar to the 4th verse and sometimes I would forget the lyrics and I was just freaking out right before going up. I was literally rereading EVERY single lyric. Thankfully everything turned out great!! Also trust me I remember when I first started singing that song I couldn’t belt what so ever...thankfully I learned a bit after a while.
*smart people in this comment section:* Barrett is amazing, but you can tell her voice is damaged, her H sharps aren't what tehy used to be and she can barely hit that R7. *me, a simpleton:* she has big voice. it pretty.
@@Caroline-le8gm yeah they're not that was just my way of showing how I no nothing about music. All I think of this cover is that a hot lady makes pretty noises
I completely agree with people saying that she should give her vocal cords a break, however, if you had vocal cords like that, you probably wouldn’t WANT to stop singing. But I see how both sides are good points
Bia it actually takes a lot of work. After you sing a song like this you’re supposed to feel like you did 6 sets of crunches because of how hard your diaphragm is working. In vocal competitions you’re supposed to make it look effortless so it will train you if you choose to pursue music so I’m guessing she’s done vocal competitions and trained herself like that
She is beautiful She can sing She's amazing She has bling She is wonderful She can dance She is belt-er-ful All of the time She is all of this baked up in a wonderful pie. She is Barret weed and I wish she were mine
1. This is beautiful. I nearly cried. 2. Although it’s so sweet that people are worried about her voice and I’m sure there are genuine reasons for concern, don’t forget that she is a Broadway star! She’s probably surrounded by vocal coaches and a lot of people who have a vested interest in her voice continuing to stay as beautiful as it is. Of course she needs to be careful with it, but I’m sure she knows what she’s doing!
her head voice is beautiful. wasn’t living for the belting {yelling}. i love barrett and i think she holds her own. deff one of a kind. i just wish her placement was different. ♥️
Whynotdream yea i agree i usually love her belting but sometimes she sounds like she’s straining... but u know every performance could have a story behind it like sickness or tiredness or nervousness or allergies. i love when her placement is rlly forward, like her lower notes. in this vid yeah i agree about the belting but i also recognize she doesn’t always sing like that
sooper salad sooper salad i agree. as a performer myself, nerves and sometimes vocal condition plays a role in how our voice sounds. she definitely had talent there is no question about that. forward placement is beautiful:)
although she’s is phenomenal in mean girls and heathers it’s crazy how unhealthy she is. this no hate at all but i just feel like everyone is cheering her on to not have a voice in a few years for how much she is pushing herself currently.
Exactly! That being said, I also think that even though she sounded beautiful on the soft parts, there are some songs that just aren’t meant to be sung by some people. This and defying gravity weren’t her best at all. Not to say she’s not talented, but her voice just doesn’t work on every type of song
Lindy Martin I’m not a professional by any means but from what I can tell Not all of technique is unhealthy but her belts, while they are powerful, aren’t supported and come straight from her throat. So as she continues to sing, the damage is gonna build up and she’s gonna lose her voice. Especially since her roles are so vocally demanding. A healthy belt should really come from your diaphragm with some head voice mixed in to take off some of the strain. You also need to have a lot of air and support. Her head voice doesn’t necessarily have bad technique but you can tell that it’s untrained and needs work. I don’t think she’s a bad singer by any means, I think that she just needs help with technique. And I love her renditions of Veronica and Janis.
hate it so much how everyone is becoming a vocal coach in the comment section 🙄 she has been thaught how to sing FOR AGES, she is on fucking Broadway she SURE has good vocal coaches and she SURE isn‘t as stupid to knowingly damage her voice cause its like everything she has 🤷🏼♀️ so just calm down, I‘m sure she knows what shes doing
Ahh! I love barret to death! But she does need some vocal rest, I hope during the pandemic she can rest her voice, which why I'm lowkey happy she kinda is done with 'Mean Girls', 'Heathers' really messed her up. Love you barret, please, take rest!
Let's stop and admire her amazing gifted voice when she reaches those notes... after rewatching about 10 times who now is thinking about make this Veronica Sawyer's version through an animatic? ... Just me? Okay, we love you Barrett keep being incredible 👌❤
Barrett is not unhealthy. She was taught to belt in a very safe and healthy way. If I see one more comment calling her “unhealthy” or saying “she won’t have a voice in a few years” I’m gonna come for someone! Barrett has said she learned to Belt in a healthy way! I think a real fan should just trust her and support her unconditionally!! Even if she was singing in an unhealthy way which she is not! But if she was it is none of your business!! Leave Barrett alone!! She is happy and she has a wonderful career and wonderful family, friends and fans who support her and her music!! Now if you could all politely shove off!! And yes I am aware that I am gonna get backlash for defending Barrett! But if you were a REAL fan you would never say “she is unhealthy” or “it won’t last” because you have no idea in how amazing and powerful Barrett is! Sorry for my rant!! ☺️
For all the people commenting on Barrett straining herself too much: where are your lead roles on Broadway? Who are your vocal students and how much do they pay you? Yeah, that’s what I thought
You’re right, I don’t have those. I think it’s just speculation though. I think she had an unhealthy vocal technique around Heathers and you can hear it come back when her voice is strained, but when she’s not doing a show or when she’s onstage she sounds fantastic. I personally think her current technique is pretty sustainable. She definitely needs some serious vocal rest tho, and I hope she gets it now
Sing along❤️ It's not simple to say That most days I don't recognize me That these shoes and this apron That place and it's patrons Have taken more than I gave them It's not easy to know I'm not anything like I used to be Although it's true I was never attention's sweet center I still remember that girl She's imperfect but she tries She is good but she lies She is hard on herself She is broken and won't ask for help She is messy but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up And baked in a beautiful pie She is gone but she used to be mine It's not what I asked for Sometimes life just slips in through a back door And carves out a person And makes you believe it's all true And now I've got you And you're not what I asked for If I'm honest I know I would give it all back For a chance to start over And rewrite an ending or two For the girl that I knew Who'll be reckless just enough Who'll get hurt But who learns how to toughen up when she's bruised And gets used by a man who can't love And then she'll get stuck and be scared Of the life that's inside her Getting stronger each day 'Til it finally reminds her To fight just a little To bring back the fire in her eyes That's been gone but it used to be mine Used to be mine She is messy but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up and baked in a beautiful pie She is gone but she used to be mine
Wow. Just wow. Not only did those high notes give me chills I was litterally crying, this is a beautiful songs and a beautiful performance of it, I would give anything to have heard it live. Again, wow!
Zara Mcbride This is good, but how can she stand there so casually and belt like THIS: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CP8-BQUUGJ4.html
I can't sit here and say this is the most beautiful rendition ever. She has a great voice, but she tends to yell through her mix, which I'm started to get really frustrated by. She didn't do that when she was in Heathers. I'm starting to worry for her vocal health.
