Canada is a constitutional monarchy. Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of Canada. (legally separate and distinct from her throne in the UK, this making Canada a fully sovereign and independent country.) Constitutionally speaking, the Queen actually has a considerable amount of power; she doesn't use any of these powers and the few royal duties that are carried out are executed by her representative, the Governer General.
