@@MikeO32989 Wasn't like he was an average player who all of sudden took steroids for a year or two to break the year home run record? Uh, yes, that is EXACTLY what it was like. He was the typical homerun hitter in an era of homerun hitters. THEN he cheated by taking drugs. Pre-steroids Bonds (1986-1999): average of 32 HRs per year. Mr. Potato-Head Steroid Bonds (2000-2004): average of 52 HRs per year. That's what steroids do.
I was there for #700. I understand the Bonds haters but if you we’re a Giants fan at that time it was just an amazing thing to see. Literally witnessed history, hate it or love it all those balls went over the fence
I've seen him hit quite a few home runs. I took my son to a few game's, where Barry hit a Home run. I told my son to look at that guy because he's the greatest baseball player we will ever see!!! No body would leave a game if they knew Barry was going to bat in the 9th inning. Those were great memories. Thank you Barry Bonds.
I am so glad we got to have Jon Miller doing the broadcasting. He was the narrative voice of my childhood as a Baltimore Orioles fan. Hearing his voice on some great calls is wonderful nostalgia.
John Miller is the best. He signed, along with Joe Morgan, my program from the 1st WBC in San Diego. My buddy was working for ESPN and hooked it up. Juan Maricial was doing the Spanish broadcast, but he wouldn't sign. Oh, well. He's an awesome dude in my book. Gonna pass the program down to my nephew when it's my time.
His amazing swing is absolutely pure talent but look how big and strong steroids made him? You don’t just get better at the tail end of your career than any other point. It’s bullshit.
@@quentinflinn1529 if you give one of the most talented players in baseball a massive heap of PEDs, watch his power, bat speed, and endurance improve drastically. You turn a Hall of Famer into a God. That’s what happened here. So don’t act like PEDs had no affect here.
i remember being a little kid when a lot of this happened, and i think i still have a collection of newspaper clippings from when he broke all the records. even knowing he was on steroids now cant take away just how exciting this was to watch unfold. nostalgia :)
comics fan Gaylord Perry who was a notorious cheater who even wrote a book in detail explaining how he cheated and the advantage it gave him. Anyone who says Bonds shouldn’t be in the Hall of Fame is either willfully hypocritical or just flat out ignorant
People had enough faith to sit in a cold Pacific Ocean in kayaks and tubes that bonds could consistently put one there every game....is how good bonds was.
"Bonds was easy to pitch to... If the situation mattered, you just walk him" ~ Greg Maddux That's one of the best ever saying he didn't want that smoke with number 25 😂😂😂
Greatest ball player I have ever seen. When I'm old my grandkids are gonna be like you saw him it home runs in Oakland?!?! If it was an As giants game you bet my dad and I where there
The best that ever did it. I've been a die-hard baseball fan for 57 years and seen them all...none could match this man's skills and excitement. I knew from the start with Pittsburgh this cat had it. Every single year including his last year in the league was must-see TV. His very last game in Arizona against my DBACKS I told my girl I don't care what happens we're going to see BB TONIGHT. The stadium was sold out, media everywhere, crowd booing because they walked him 3 times, BB came up the very last time and they had to pitch to him or there would've been a riot and wouldn't you know it......BOOM...HOME ROOM !
This is why baseball was great back then packed stadiums waiting to see a moonshot! Don’t care how much juice you got in you it doesn’t help you hit a ball you can either hit one or you can’t and this man had amazing hand eye corridnation Let judge juice up and see every stadium packed again! Or even so much get a home run race going like it did with McGwire and Sosa it out baseball on the front pages again We are slowly losing Americas past time to Japan!!
I don't give a damn what he took or the rest of those players from that Era. It was the best Era of baseball ever. Period. To deny that is to deny facts.
The "Steroid Era" was the greatest time for baseball. Nowadays you can't pimp a HR and its frowned upon to throw at somebody. Frankly I could give two shits if someone does steroids or not, with the way the pay players these days, they should. I'd love to see someone hit an 800 foot HR or hit 70 in a season again.
800 ft home run is impossible brother and home runs are overrated doesn't mean your good most time home run hitters strike out to much they aren't that good there avg sucks
Anyone who watched his years w Pittsburgh knows you don't just transform from that into an un-pitchable freak. Smart pitchers would walk the c-sucker and just say "go stand on 1st balco-boy"
@NOTREALLY HANKAARON he was still a phenom. And like I said, it was more than a treat seeing him blast balls into McCovey cove. The stadium was electric when he was in the box.
@NOTREALLY HANKAARON Lmao, whut. And what exactly does my comment about seeing Bonds hit home runs say about me? You don't know me in the least and that comment tells you nothing about me personally. Idiot.
Not sure how you have a Cooperstown without telling the story of Rose and Bonds in that place. Hits leader all time and homerun leader all time and season as well as walks and intentional walks in a season and lifetime and no Hall. I'm making my own Hall and I'm including Billy Hamilton from the 1890's Cool Papa Bell, Josh Gibson, Ohh from Japan and those two gentlemen previously mentioned. I'm also putting in Joe Jackson...it's time.
