I m watching this show on 2023 and almost finished 2nd season, but after going through the episodes, I wanted to know about actors but most all of them passed away and Barry leave this world too early 😢😢.... Every one of them are soo good with everything ❤❤.... Wherever you legends are but we missed you🥰🥰
I'm also watching this show in 2023 & will be going through them just like you. I'm in the US. Several British programs were picked up here but not this one. I'd seen "Doctor in The House" & had a crush on him! He was ADORABLE.
I think it is so moving to find you all here commenting on the wonderful Barry Evans so many years after his passing. Some folks who were not even born in his lifetime are now fans. To have touched the hearts of people all over the world is a marvelous thing . Although his early and later years were tough , he did know success as a particularly fine actor in comedy shows that brought pleasure to millions of people.
As kids we enjoyed watching the series in Goa India. Ur act was a true definition of a Teacher. U would have been an inspiration to many of my school friends who became teachers. RIP.
how come he died as a broken man, all alone in his rental room. he drove cabs to make ends meet. who's failure is it. people of my generation owed him and we failed miserably.
Unfortunately the show business world is cruel and unforgiving. He was typecasted and after a while he couldn't find decent jobs, though his acting and his potential were never used to their whole spectrum. He had this magnificent literate ability, an impeccable structure, endearing warmth and a face full of projecting feelings. Hearing recently how he passed, I was in tears, because both sitcoms (MYL and DITH_DAL) were broadcasted in my country in the 80s, but I rewatched them recently, because I was a child back then. What an awful fate. To be abandoned, to fight his fate and become such an artist, and have such a tragic ending. His untimely death was far from suicide and was never adequately investigated, if at all. I can't even pretend to imagine how his last moments would have been. So sorry.So very, very sorry...

Thank you for this tribute. He was one of the fondest memories of my youth, as "Mind Your Language" was on TV in my country in 1980-81...I recently found out the circumstances of his untimely death and I was so, so incredibly sad. It was years after the eighties I managed to watch "Doctor in the house" and "Doctor at large", and still back then hadn;t heard that he had passed and in such a way. Beloved, soft spoken, incredibly viacious and endearing expressions. Pity that the very appearance that gave him the first shots in the beginning, became the obstacle that prevented the parts he deserved to come to him. Such a waste. Rest in eternal peace, beutiful man.

I think it is important for actors, sportsmen/ women to diversify. An insurance before things 'dry up' and not afterwards. A very sad story about a very talented actor. Rest In Peace Barry.
