Chord movement is what I've always loved most about jazz but I didn't know what it was called until I discovered the Barry Harris videos a few days ago. This video makes it all a bit more accessible. Subscribing and many thanks!

I get the dim6 scale but what I’m a bit confused about is choosing the most appropriate dim/dim7 chord for the next chord. Eg you have shown C6 move to Dbdim7 to Dm7 which is a borrowed chord from another Dim6 scale it would seem. Another example is the F#dim7 chord back to the C6 or a variation of C. These sound good. Are there guidelines for this? I’m a noob to jazz. BTW your videos are great!

i've only really ever learned classical piano pieces. i'm also very stuck in that "static chord" mindset, but feel like there is definitely a way to break out of that. do you think i could apply barry harris's framework in a more classically oriented way instead of jazz standards? I just really want to get a better understanding of how the bass and melody can flow together instead of just thinking in blocks of chords in my left hand

i saw a video where it seemed like barry was applying his framework to a chopin piece (and chopin is something i play quite a lot). so i got really curious about learning his principles

Learning movements will really help but it's important that you get fluent with Jazz standards first.
