WOW, THE LAST TIME I HEARD THIS VERSION WAS ON AN OLD 8 TRACK TAPE DECK IN VIET-NAM----LORDY DOES THIS BRING BACK SOME HAUNTING MEMORIES! BUT IT WAS AN EVERLASTING REMINDER THAT THERE WAS CIVILIZATION OUT THERE SOMEWHERE! I HAVE LOOKED FOR THIS VERSION FOR 40 YEARS....THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY PURPLE HEART FOR SHARING THIS WONDERFUL VERSION.
ONE OF THE FIRST ALBUMS I PURCHASED WITH MY HARD EARNED MONEY. THAT WAS MY GRADUATION GIFT TO MYSELF! I LISTEN TO HIS MUSIC EVERY DAY!!! IT JUST MAKES ME FEEL GOOD THAT HE'S A TEXAN!! GO GALVESTON!!!!!!
I was about 12 or 13 when this came out. My parents were concerned that a young white boy from conservative NR Teaxswould be listening to such stuff. And to make it worse i was not the only one!!
This was the U.K. issue; 20th Century issued this in the U.S. On the original T-407 LP, the script type used for Mr. White's name was white, as opposed to black on the U.K. cover.
