To be fair the UK designs are probably way older for that kind of stuff so it's more of US taps being an upgrade than UK taps being a downgrade. I don't see why they didn't adopt the redesign tho.

@@muffindealer9576 I'm talking more as a comparison between the UK and France, but I get your point. I think you're right that alot of design in the UK are old fashioned and have stayed old fashioned. French stuff tends to be more modern and just be better designed, in my opinion. I think three decades of neoliberalism & cost cutting for construction has a big part to play. In the 1980s construction of residential buildings was heavily deregulated and privatised in the UK, so contractors could get away with building just plain unsafe, cheap as dirt housing. France on the other hand still has quite strong governmental institutions and safety regulations so the quality of housing tends to be alot better. There are also definately alot of houses built in the victorian age still in use in the UK that should have been demolished half a century ago.
