Ya but underneath the theatrics its actually pretty sound advice if your actually in a situation where you're in real danger. Go for the eyes, groin, throat, grab a weapon if you can. Those are all advantages you can use even if you aren't big and tough.
@@MitchJohnson0110 For sure - the key point being real danger that you could not just remove yourself from first. There's almost no reason you should end up in that situation in the first place, unless you're a cage fighter/bouncer.

The red guy who is supposed to be the “attacker” while Bas always is the one attacking with the most brute force possible. The sound effects. The role play texts he says while killing the “attacker” “Okay I’m sorry”. The whole setting, the using of random attributes. Coming back to this video annually but still crying every single time!

Why thank you 😊 I made this video in 2005 before I knew about YT, I still have the original file. The account I used to upload this video was hacked because I was a dummy. There have been numerous reposting of this video through the years with tens of millions of views. I even read an article where Bas himself talked about it. Every now and then I'll read through the comments for the laughs, it seems every line in the video has been quoted. I love that so many people have enjoyed my video, I laughed my ass off making it.

It brought tears to my eyes how effective and fluid Bas's movements were. It shows that hes been in so many scrapes in bars and in the ring. Very very experienced.
Bas Rutten is such a nice human being, I consider him a mentor and a source of inspiration, Bas overcame so much and achieved his dreams, he is helping me right now with a personal problem and his generosity is overwhelming.
+Charlie foster Just so you know, in most, if all US states, 99% of what he's demonstrating would probably be flat-out illegal if you did this in a fight and claimed "self-defense" in court (unless the other person's actually trying to kill you or something). Thanks to whoever made this compilation. This whole instructional was one of the greatest things ever put on video. I remember watching the full tape whenever it came out and then showing it to some friends who had no interest in self defense or had ever heard of Bas Rutten. They all fell in love with this guy’s personality and attitude and found themselves laughing. They joked that this is probably the only self defense tape ever made for the the bad guy. Besides all the unintentional comedy, Bas actually supplied a lot of great techniques, information, and insights into the reality of actual street fighting. It’s dirty, ugly stuff. There wasn’t any fancy kung fu hand trapping or dynamic taekwondo kicks involved here. Just the fastest and most efficient way to disable someone who’s trying to hurt you. There was nothing theoretical here. This was all knowledge learned in the real world from Bas’s fights in the ring and the street.

I feel like if I started with Bas it would literally take him 10 seconds to hit me 7-8 times, break 5 bones in my body, and I'd wake up 24 hours later having literally no clue what happened. This guy is a freaking animal.
This is so hilarious, what's most hilarious is that this is all legitimately dangerous stuff for use in the most dangerous of situations for instant results if done correctly with absolute focus, this is no voodoo stuff, the technique is all sound and yet he acts like a crazy yob !!! An NFL player Brian Urlacher ( a well known linebacker with power and aggression that intimidated his colleagues) once got into an argument with Bas Rutten at some charity event. Someone Brian knew told him who Bas was, and Brian approached him with an apology over the way he acted. Bas was legitimately one of the scariest men on the planet, and his reputation still carries to this day
The liver is a notorious weakpoint. People underestimate it because it's close to your abdominals so you think it's protected but it's not, even in well toned bodies, there's many videos of world class boxing matches with fighters getting knocked down from well placed liver punches.
