From Mikey: PLEASE NOTE this is just a video of my experience fitting a stock system and not a tutorial, I would not advise cutting your system base down unless you are experienced in doing so. if these items are cut incorrectly they could be ruined/unusable.
Step 1: Marking the Hairline
First, Mikey marks his desired hairline using a white eyeliner pencil. He takes his time with this step, adjusting the line until he’s satisfied. Getting the hairline right is crucial for a natural look.
Step 2: Creating a Template
Next, Mikey uses the clear plastic dome that comes with the hair system to create a template. He positions the dome on his head, aligning it with the hairline marks. Using the white pencil, he marks around his temples and along the sides and back of his head, checking his progress with a small hand mirror.
Step 3: Cutting the Hair System
With the template marked, Mikey starts cutting the hair system to fit. He begins at the temples, working his way back, and trims any excess material. For more precision, he sometimes uses an eyebrow razor, although scissors work just fine for most of the cutting.
Step 4: Testing the Fit
Mikey places the hair system on his head to check the fit. If it’s slightly larger than needed, that’s okay - he can always trim it down. He prefers starting a bit bigger for more flexibility.
Step 5: Trimming the Lace
He carefully trims the lace around the hairline, getting as close to the hair as possible. This ensures a seamless blend with his skin, eliminating any visible lace.
Step 6: Applying Tape
Mikey preps the hair system for attachment by applying tape along the front and around the perimeter. This keeps the hair system securely in place without damaging the lace.
Step 7: Final Fit and Style
After fitting the system on his head, he presses down the front to secure it. Then, he heads to his barber for a final trim and style. The Nicolas system looks incredibly natural with its perfect hairline, color, and body wave pattern.
