Helmet server various purpose rather than "preventing death" like ya'll seem to think, they protect the ear from the air pressure and ensure that they won't injure their head if the happen to hit trees or other stuff on the way down and on landing
I don’t think there is much left to protect if you choose to do this sport. My former boss died earlier this year while paragliding and it makes me believe this even more. Life is just too precious to die an self risked awful death
I live in Twin Falls and it has been my experience that these young people are friendly and courteous. The area where they stage and fold is never left trashed, they don't block paths, and when approached and asked questions about their jumping they're always friendly and eager to open a dialogue.
Ya. They're fun to watch. Sometimes out of Towner's slow down on the bridge to watch them, which is pretty annoying. I almost got into a wreck because someone from California decided to slow down to 10mph to watch them. Annoying
Sometimes a simple tap makes a big difference in physics. The helmet may not help if she goes splat, but if she succeeds and hits a tree or not stick the landing...

For those who do not understand, if you jump INTO the parachute you will likely get tangled and die. This is risky as you have two seconds for the chute to fully open ABOVE you.
I grew up in Eden Idaho about 17 miles from this location. I it usually safe to jump. but not if there is a wind, the bridge is called the perine bridge. the climb back up is strenuous.
